In an instant, countless fragments of parts were scattered by the wind and waves, various components landing on Wang Chao's body. He even spotted the lever from the Tractor nearby. As the residual force of the explosion dissipated, Wang Chao shook off the dust from his clothes, stood up, and looked towards the monster. He saw that the creature had been struck by the front of the vehicle, its body hurled a considerable distance away. The ground was gouged out, leaving a deep trench, surrounded by a large area of bloodstains, some even splattering onto Wang Chao.
Wang Chao thought to himself that the power of the blast was indeed tremendous; surely this monster must be dead now.
Just as he felt a weight lift from his heart and was about to continue towards the temporary camp, a sudden roar echoed around him, deafening and resonant. The source of this immense roar was none other than the gigantic monster that Wang Chao had believed to be dead. Instantly alert, he watched as the creature shakily stood up.
What a turn of fate! Earlier, that soldier had been torn apart by this very monster, and now it stood with a large hole in its abdomen, intestines as thick as an adult's thigh spilling out. Its entire body was drenched in blood, as if it had soaked in a pool of it. Countless metal shards were embedded in its flesh, with blood oozing from many wounds.
The monster rose to its feet but was clearly in a frenzy, rampaging wildly and shaking the ground beneath it. Wang Chao dared not act recklessly; while leaving might be an option, he couldn't be sure that the crazed monster wouldn't charge towards the Nuclear Power Plant. With this thought in mind, he gritted his teeth and stomped his foot, quickly reloading his weapon and firing several controlled bursts at the creature.
Wang Chao's goal was not to kill but to attract attention. With its intestines exposed, death was only a matter of time for the monster. What he needed to do now was draw it away from the direction of the Nuclear Power Plant. Sure enough, enraged by the bullets striking it, the monster let out several howls before charging towards Wang Chao. Compared to the nine-meter-tall beast, Wang Chao felt like a chick but managed to evade easily due to his agility.
Thus, Wang Chao led the monster away from the ranch. Just as he thought his plan was about to succeed, the creature suddenly spewed out green liquid from its mouth. The area where the liquid landed began to corrode with a hissing sound; all grass disappeared instantly. "Grass!" Wang Chao shouted. "This tank hero has unleashed AP!" He quickly dodged but still got splattered by some of the liquid.
Immediately, his military uniform began to corrode. Without hesitation, Wang Chao tore off his clothing; however, even then, a large hole formed in his thermal underwear. Fortunately, the corrosive liquid had already evaporated and did not continue to eat away at him. Otherwise, his flesh would have suffered a similar fate. It was thanks to Wang Chao's swift actions that he avoided further disaster.
A foul stench wafted through the air; this liquid was none other than the monster's gastric acid!
Suddenly, the creature stopped advancing and stood not far from Wang Chao. Its hollow eye sockets remained empty, yet at that moment, Wang Chao felt as if it were staring directly at him—a disconcerting sensation indeed. Could it be that this monster could sense his position without eyes? Was it related to that gastric fluid?
Confused thoughts swirled in Wang Chao's mind as he quickly dashed to his left. The monster mirrored his movement and ran left as well. When Wang Chao halted and sprinted in the opposite direction, so did the creature to its right. This was bad! He had indeed been located by the monster. To attract its attention, he had gotten too close for comfort. Suddenly, with one swift movement, the monster leaped right in front of him, a sharp claw slicing through the air towards him.
A wave of irritation surged through Wang Chao's body alongside a loss of strength.
Wang Chao leaped into the air, soaring to a height of three meters. He landed lightly on the monster's massive claw, almost like a dragonfly touching the water, and swiftly climbed up along the creature's arm. With a Submachine Gun in hand, he moved rapidly, firing one-handed and hitting the monster's hollow eye socket with pinpoint accuracy.
Blood splattered everywhere.
The monster seemed to sense Wang Chao's strength shifting, and its other hand swung back in retaliation. Wang Chao executed a swift roll to evade the attack. At that moment, his bullets had run out, but he had already charged right up to the monster's face. Clenching his fist, he imagined delivering a blow that would rip its brain out, just like he had done with the Tentacle Monster. However, in the blink of an eye, he saw a long red tendril whip toward him.
Just as Wang Chao's fist was about to strike the monster's eye socket, that tendril wrapped around him. He looked closer and realized it was the monster's intestines! This creature could even control its own guts! The intestines were thick, and Wang Chao found himself unable to escape. The mucus coating them made him feel as if his body were being corroded.
Looking down, he saw no signs of corrosion, but the pain coursing through him felt like fire that couldn't be hidden.
"Ah! Break free!" Wang Chao shouted as he exerted all his strength. His muscles swelled to their limits, but the tendril tightened around him like a giant python. The veins in his body bulged as if they were about to burst. The monster was also nearing its limit; both it and Wang Chao were at their breaking points.
Seeing that its strength was waning without any results, the monster opened its gaping maw, intending to swallow Wang Chao along with its own intestines. It seemed determined to take them both down together! Wang Chao thought frantically.
"Ah!" He continued to struggle with all his might, knowing that if he couldn't break free from these intestines and ended up in the monster's stomach, it would mean certain death!
"I'll be damned!" Just as the monstrous mouth approached him, Wang Chao unleashed every ounce of strength he had ever possessed. The monster's intestines could no longer withstand this force and burst apart, spilling intestinal fluid everywhere and splattering onto Wang Chao. He felt searing pain as wounds opened across his body. But at that moment, he couldn't care less about the pain; he hurled a dagger with all his might.
At that instant, the monster's claw struck out with lethal force. Wang Chao had nowhere to dodge in mid-air; one swipe tore through his chest, exposing bone and nearly revealing his beating heart.
The dagger struck true into the monster's eye, causing white and yellow liquid to spray out as it staggered backward.
Ultimately, he still hadn't escaped. Wang Chao regretted wanting to play the hero and insisted on checking out the Nuclear Power Plant. If only he had grabbed the documents and run away back then, he wouldn't have faced such a calamity. What a foolish risk he had taken! As he hit the ground, an immense impact shattered several of his ribs. At that moment, he noticed a horde of Zombies approaching from afar, drawn by the series of loud noises.
He wanted to shoot himself, but he found that he couldn't even move his fingers. He thought he would probably die before those zombies arrived.
But what's youth without a bit of bravado? Or perhaps there are always things more important than death.
Wang Chao thought to himself that he wouldn't be lonely when he went, after all, those twenty or so soldiers were already on the way to meet him.
