In the haze, Wang Chao felt his flesh being ruthlessly torn apart. He struggled to open his eyes and found himself surrounded by Zombies. Wang Chao was furious; how could he, the destined ruler of the underworld, end up like this? Becoming a Zombie was worse than death itself. Yet at that moment, he couldn't even die. He closed his eyes again, allowing the encircling Zombies to continue their assault. 0

His eyes slowly closed once more. 0

"Wang Chao?" Yang Mengying asked. "What's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?" Wang Chao opened his eyes to find himself lying in bed. Rubbing his eyes and shaking his aching head, he surveyed his surroundings. This place looked familiar. Suddenly, it hit him—this was his rental apartment! He glanced at Yang Mengying, who wore a puzzled expression. 0

"Where are the Zombies? The Zombies?" Wang Chao still felt disoriented. 0

Yang Mengying replied, "What Zombies? I need to go to work now. You should hurry and find a job too; stop playing games all day or you'll get stupid." 0

Even after Yang Mengying left the room, Wang Chao remained in a daze. He stared at the computer screen where Resident Evil was still running, utterly shocked. Outside, elderly couples were already dancing in the small garden, while students and office workers hurried by, many eating breakfast on the go. Could it be that everything he experienced was just a dream? 0

It was merely a peaceful and ordinary morning. 0

"Open up, Senior!" 0

Wang Chao opened the door to find the little Sister from upstairs. She said, "I'm leaving Yiyi in your care; I have a date!" Wang Chao rolled his eyes at her but still picked up Yiyi. Yiyi had her head down, looking as if she hadn't woken up yet. As Wang Chao brushed Yiyi's hair aside to see her face, suddenly Yiyi let out an angry roar and lunged at him with her mouth wide open as if to bite him. Startled, Wang Chao realized he was surrounded by Zombies, densely packed around him. 0

"Yiyi!" This time, Wang Chao truly woke up. He looked at himself and saw that he was covered in bite marks; one of his legs was even broken. What puzzled him was that he hadn't turned into a Zombie. Based on the position of the sun, he deduced he had been lying there for several hours, yet when he woke up, he still retained his thoughts. 0

Dragging his broken leg, Wang Chao half-squatted down. The surrounding Zombies ignored him completely as if he were one of them. Fear gripped his heart as he raised his hand and placed it in front of one Zombie's mouth; it simply walked past him without any interest. "I... I..." At that moment, Wang Chao found himself speechless; despite being bitten by Zombies, he had not turned into one. 0

Or perhaps he had become a thinking Zombie? 0

Wang Chao quickly pulled out a long-preserved Braised Chicken Leg from his Spatial Ring, brought it to his nose, inhaled its familiar aroma, and then took a big bite. The taste was just as he remembered, the same old recipe. This chicken leg was incredibly delicious; he had once set a record by eating ten of them in one night. Damn! He wasn't here to savor gourmet food. His enjoyment of human food indicated that he was still not a Zombie. 0

But could he still be considered human? 0

His clothes were completely torn, leaving him in a state of undress. The bite marks on his body and his broken leg didn’t cause him any pain at all. In this condition, returning to the Refugee Zone was out of the question; otherwise, he would be shot on sight as a Zombie before even reaching the entrance. However, Wang Chao felt compelled to report what had happened at the Nuclear Power Plant. 0

“What the hell should I do?” If he went back, he would die; if he didn’t go back, everyone in the Refugee Zone would perish. 0

Just as Wang Chao was caught in this dilemma, he suddenly spotted a soldier staring at him in shock around the corner. Wang Chao felt an uneasy sensation in his heart. Sure enough, the soldier murmured, “Wang Chao? You’re Wang Chao.” This soldier had been part of the team that escorted Wang Chao and naturally recognized him. 0

“Brother, I—” Wang Chao began to speak but was interrupted by the soldier’s exclamation: “Monster! I saw you being torn apart by countless Zombies. You… you can talk! No way, I have to report this to the captain.” 0

“I may have been bitten, but I’m still human!” Wang Chao shouted. 0

“Bullshit! Can’t you see that the Zombies aren’t even attacking you? Captain! Captain!” The soldier retreated in fear from the approaching Zombies and then turned to run. 0

Wang Chao couldn’t let this person return; absolutely not. No one else could know about this. He wasn’t a monster; he wasn’t a Zombie. He needed to go back and deliver his warning! But dragging his injured leg, how fast could he run? As he watched the soldier about to disappear down the next street, an unnamed rage surged within him. 0

I won’t let you escape! 0

Wang Chao reached out and pointed into thin air. A Bone Knife extended from his hand, stretching over ten meters long. With one swift strike, it pierced through the soldier’s Heart. Blood flowed through the hollow Bone Knife into Wang Chao’s body like a raging fire, a sensation akin to being pierced by countless needles. But alongside that pain came the visible healing of his wounds. 0

“What’s going on?” came a voice from behind: “Did something happen?” 0

As the captain turned down a street and arrived at the scene, he was stunned by what he saw. Wang Chao was like a monster, using the bone spikes growing from his body to drain the blood of his teammates. 0

"Open fire!" the captain ordered without hesitation, knowing that at this moment, Wang Chao no longer belonged to the realm of humanity. 0

The ten soldiers heard the command and immediately opened fire without a moment's hesitation. Countless bullets struck Wang Chao, creating numerous bloody holes in his body. Wang Chao had already retracted the Bone Knife and was holding his head with both hands to protect his most vulnerable areas. However, the enemy's bullets came like a meteor shower, leaving him no chance to escape. 0

Wang Chao sprayed blood and finally succumbed, collapsing to the ground, motionless. 0

"Clear a path, move forward!" the captain said. "Bring his body back; he is an excellent research subject." 0

The soldiers obeyed, shooting at the surrounding zombies while moving toward Wang Chao. They soon surrounded him. One soldier checked Wang Chao and confirmed his death. Just as several of them were about to lift his body, countless Bone Knives suddenly erupted from Wang Chao's body, piercing through all ten of them without exception. Some zombies were also caught in the attack. Then, streams of blood flowed back into Wang Chao's body. 0

Wang Chao realized that this ability was ineffective against zombies; it could only be used on living beings! 0

His wounds healed rapidly, and by the time ten soldiers became nothing but skins, all of Wang Chao's injuries had completely mended. Even the broken leg was restored to its original state, as if he had never been injured at all. 0
