Tang Feng had an innate sense of danger, which was different from Xiao Wei, who needed to actively engage her abilities to monitor the dangers around her. It was also unlike Wang Chao, who only sensed danger at the last moment when it was upon him. Although Tang Feng could feel the presence of danger, he could not discern what kind it was. Since Xiao Wei had activated her abilities earlier and could no longer monitor, the three of them had to investigate further. 0

The group was walking along a ridge; one side was relatively gentle while the other dropped off into a sheer cliff. Logically, crossing the ridge would be the shortest route, but such cliffs were not something a person could simply scale. Therefore, they needed to find a more level area to navigate around, and the task of scouting ahead was entrusted to the members of the Bioterrorism Security Department. Wang Chao asked, "Is the danger indeed on our path?" 0

Tang Feng nodded. 0

Upon hearing this from Tang Feng, the two others nodded seriously. Tang Feng was known for being straightforward; he would not speak unless he was certain, even if he only had a ninety percent assurance. The three moved quietly and swiftly forward. The path was overgrown with dense trees, making it difficult to traverse. After about half an hour, they reached a high ground. Looking down, they saw a large stone platform protruding about a hundred meters away, covering several hundred square meters and appearing to be naturally formed. 0

On top of the stone platform stood a giant bear on its hind legs, towering over four meters high. Since it faced away from them, they could not see its front clearly. In front of this Human Bear was a wild wolf approximately three meters long. The wolf's fur was snow-white, clearly not a species native to these mountains. Wang Chao then noticed that the wolf's four paws were covered in long red fur, as if they were ablaze. 0

What a majestic wolf, Wang Chao thought to himself. 0

"The danger I sensed earlier comes from these two animals," Tang Feng said to his companions crouched on the ground. Even without Tang Feng's words, both men could feel the dangerous aura radiating from the two beasts on the stone platform. Watching them poised for battle, Shen Zhitao whispered, "If we approach from that stone platform, we can cross over the mountains more quickly." 0

Wang Chao nodded and replied, "Yes, but first we need to assess which of these two beasts is stronger or weaker. If we want to get past that platform later on, we'll have to deal with one of them." 0

Shen Zhitao nodded eagerly; his face couldn't hide his excitement. Even Tang Feng's expression shifted slightly as he appeared equally thrilled. Wang Chao felt a surge of excitement as well; after all, such a battle was likely a once-in-a-century occurrence. Both creatures were extraordinary in size and clearly had undergone some form of mutation. 0

The Human Bear let out low growls as if threatening the wolf, but the wolf remained unfazed, staring intently at the Human Bear. Wang Chao took a closer look and realized that the wolf's eyes were blood-red, resembling two glistening rubies. Suddenly, he thought how wonderful it would be to have such a pet. 0

The wolf tensed up like a bowstring ready to snap. Then everyone heard a deep howl—it was emitted by the wolf—before it leaped forward in an astonishing jump of over ten meters. Its massive jaws opened wide as it aimed its sharp teeth at the Human Bear's neck. The Human Bear swiped its powerful paws in an attempt to throw off the wolf; however, at that moment, the wolf twisted its head and abandoned its initial attack instead sinking its teeth into the Human Bear's arm. 0

Blood poured out like rain. 0

The Human Bear let out a painful howl, swinging its arm downwards. The wild wolf was thrown away by the immense force, and with a loud crash, the impact stirred up dust from the ground. The wolf tumbled for an unknown distance before finally managing to flip over and stand up. Its sides were visibly caved in, indicating serious injuries, and it spat out several mouthfuls of blood. 0

The Human Bear, with its tough skin and thick flesh, seemed largely unaffected by the wounds on its arm. Wang Chao recalled the Old Hunter's words about how creatures like the Snow Leopard and tigers would avoid the Human Bear in the mountains. What he witnessed today confirmed that reputation. After landing a hit, the Human Bear charged forward again, seemingly intent on pinning the wolf down. 0

At this point, Wang Chao couldn't help but feel anxious for the wild wolf. 0

Seeing the Human Bear lunging towards it, the wolf recognized the danger. It dug its claws into the ground and leaped forward with all its might. Although the Human Bear was fast, it was still a moment too late. Just as its massive paw was about to strike the wolf's head—powerful enough to crush it like a watermelon—the wolf soared over the Human Bear's head, narrowly escaping as the bear's claws grazed its belly. 0

Now on the Human Bear's back, the wolf clamped down with its sharp claws and sank its teeth into the bear's flesh. Four deep claw marks and overlapping bite wounds appeared on the bear's back. Anyone watching would feel a pang of sympathy for the pain it must be enduring. The Human Bear thrashed violently from side to side, trying to shake off the wolf, but it clung on like a stubborn leech, showing no signs of letting go. 0

The intense movement only deepened the bear's wounds, causing unbearable pain. Suddenly, it collapsed to the ground, rolling around desperately. Finally, it managed to throw off the wolf. 0

The three observers on the cliff watched in horror; they knew that encountering either of these beasts would mean certain death. In mere moments, they saw that the once gray stone platform had been stained red with blood from both creatures, splattered vividly across its surface—a terrifying sight that filled them with dread. 0

The wild wolf stood up again while the Human Bear endured its back pain and rose to its feet as well. 0

The two beasts stood at a distance from each other now, neither making an attack—like boxers taking a breather between rounds. Though only a few minutes had passed, both had exhausted their strength and sustained injuries that were hard to quantify. They stared each other down, occasionally growling or licking their wounds, yet their eyes never left one another. 0

The three knew that after this brief respite would come an even more brutal clash—one that would end only in death or victory. 0
