Grenades were gathered together, forming a dozen spherical "bombs." Wang Chao was unsure of their power, but they certainly looked intimidating. The soldiers' professionalism was evident at this moment; within half an hour, everyone was ready. Time passed slowly, and in an hour and a half, it would be time for action. 0

Wang Chao looked around and noticed that everyone had their eyes closed. Not just the soldiers in this building, but also the ordinary citizens in the other buildings were waiting for midnight to arrive, waiting and waiting. Wang Chao noticed that Shen Zhitao, sitting next to him, was trembling slightly. Wang Chao asked, "Are you okay?" Shen Zhitao forced a faint smile and replied, "How is Little Wolf doing?" 0

"It will learn and grow," Wang Chao answered, abandoning the question of why Shen Zhitao was willing to face danger if he was afraid. 0

"Mm," Shen Zhitao responded softly. 0

At eleven forty-five. 0

"The bombers are ready!" Old Lei shouted. "Remember, spread them out when you throw!" With Old Lei's command, the soldiers holding the bombs moved to the front of the building to prepare. Wang Chao and the others hid in the hallway on the first floor, ready to rush out at any moment. Everyone felt tense, beads of sweat forming on their brows. As time ticked by, the hands of those holding the bombs began to tremble. 0

"Five, four, three, two, one, throw!" Old Lei shouted. The windows were already wide open; dozens of soldiers pulled the pins from their grenades and threw them out. Everyone quickly took cover. A second later, there were several loud explosions, sending countless dust particles into the air. Shen Zhitao's voice rang out: "Let's go!" He jumped out of the window, followed closely by Wang Chao and then by the members of the Bioterrorism Security Department. 0

"Move! Move!" The doors of the building swung open as soldiers poured out. The dust outside had not yet settled completely; Wang Chao could only see walls splattered with blood and numerous severed limbs. The stench of blood was overwhelming. "Retreat to the back door! Retreat to the back door!" Wang Chao heard someone shout. He and his companions stood by the window to help the soldiers down. 0

Bloodied chunks and limbs continued to fall from above as the dust finally settled. Looking into the distance, they could see that the bombs had indeed caused significant destruction; within a hundred meters radius, there was nothing left but craters in the ground and occasional falling body parts. The zombies caught in the blast were down in droves—what a perfect opportunity! 0

This was definitely a chance to escape! Wang Chao thought that if the Bioterrorism Security Department members fled now, they would encounter no danger at all. But Shen Zhitao was the first to charge forward toward the distant zombies, followed by others rushing past Wang Chao. Gritting his teeth, Wang Chao also dashed out. "Lead the zombies to the back door!" Shen Zhitao shouted. 0

"Understood!" shouted members of the Bioterrorism Security Department. 0

"Quickly deploy! Team leaders take care of your soldiers!" Old Lei's voice echoed through the chaos. 0

The members of the Bioterrorism Security Department stood firm, determined to hold the line against the oncoming horde. The soldiers spread out, resolutely guarding the paths that had been blasted open. Countless residents had rushed out of their buildings, crowding behind them, waiting for a way to escape. Wang Chao cursed under his breath; with the retreat routes cut off, there was no way back. The opportunity to flee had slipped away, and even if they wanted to run now, it would be too late. 0

The soldiers formed a line and pushed forward rapidly. As long as they could push back the Zombie encirclement, even if they couldn't escape through the front, they could climb over the walls. But how many would make it out? That was left to fate. At that moment, the Zombies had recovered from the earlier explosions. Those staggering figures saw the crowd and surged forward like thirsty men spotting water. 0

"Suppress them! Fire! Shoot!" Gunfire erupted as the Zombies in front fell like puppets on strings, limbs flailing wildly. Some Zombies dropped to the ground, but there were simply too many of them. The firepower could not halt their advance. If this continued, it wouldn't be long before the Zombies regrouped and surrounded them completely. 0

"Climb the walls! Escape!" Old Lei shouted. The crowd behind him realized that the military couldn't fend off the Zombies any longer and began searching for their own escape routes. They understood this was likely the last offensive action the military could take; if they couldn't break through now, an ammunition-starved army would have no strength left for a second assault. 0

"There are too many Zombies! We can't stop the Zombie Horde!" Wang Chao swiftly decapitated three Zombies with his dagger, but he felt no thrill in it. There were just too many; they were fighting while retreating, and it was only a matter of time before they were surrounded. Wang Chao also recognized that he was not immune to becoming a target; those Zombies were eager to feast on his flesh. 0

"Hold on as long as you can! We prepared ourselves for death!" Shen Zhitao shouted. "Kill!" 0

Wang Chao gritted his teeth, watching Da Qiang roar beside him as he continued to swing his blade. 0

"Follow me!" Zhang Fusheng bellowed from the left side of their formation. With a powerful punch, he struck the wall, causing cracks to splinter across its surface. Then he kicked hard, and a section of the wall collapsed, sending debris flying into the horde of Zombies outside. 0

With a fierce shout, Zhang Fusheng charged forward, using an unknown technique to carve out a path. "Run! I can't hold this for long! Go!" The crowd wasted no time; many surged through the opening he created. Around Zhang Fusheng, it seemed as if energy flowed visibly. Within thirty seconds, he was drenched in sweat; the path he had opened was quickly filled again by advancing Zombies. Those who hadn't escaped had no choice but to retreat alongside him. 0

Zhang Fusheng's actions saved countless lives but also put many at risk. 0

Initially using the wall for cover helped reduce their encirclement, but now that wall was breached, and countless Zombies poured in from that opening. The soldiers had no choice but to spread out and resist the influx of Zombies from that direction. The Zombies didn't need to reload; they felt no pain. In between reloads for the soldiers, the encirclement tightened significantly. 0

"I'm out of bullets!" one soldier shouted. 0

"I'm out too!" another echoed in despair. 0
