In the midst of the fierce battle, many had run out of ammunition, and the intense gunfire had created a brief lull. This was an utterly unequal war; not only were the enemies outnumbering them by more than ten times, but a single touch from a Zombie could mean death. Yet, they had to shatter the Zombies' skulls to survive. Soldiers without bullets were no different from ordinary people when faced with Zombies. 0

The members of the Bioterrorism Security Department were few in number, and despite their exceptional talents, they struggled to fend off the swarm of Zombies. They managed to divert a wave of Zombies, but it was futile. Huangfu Ling and Li Dewei were nowhere to be found, while Zhang Fusheng seemed to be using some secret technique, leaving him unable to recover quickly. He could only hide behind the troops to recuperate. The encirclement of Zombies grew tighter, while the number of those lacking ammunition increased. 0

"Run! Run!" With no bullets left, the group had no way to stop the advancing Zombie horde. Countless individuals had already discarded their weapons and fled backward, but unfortunately, there were no blind spots in the encirclement. Those who ran back only encountered others fleeing in the same direction. If this continued, the remaining survivors would have no choice but to return to the residential buildings and wait for death. 0

"Follow me! Follow me!" Zhang Fusheng, positioned in the center, shouted again. 0

Zhang Fusheng stood up once more, though his steps were unsteady as if he might collapse at any moment. Nevertheless, he staggered toward the wall he had previously blasted open. "Stay close to me; I don't know how far I can go, just stay close!" The others didn’t fully understand his words but saw him heading toward the large hole he had created. 0

"Go!" At Zhang Fusheng's command, no one knew what was happening, yet within a radius of several dozen meters around him, not a single Zombie could approach. Countless civilians rushed forward; they looked at Zhang Fusheng as if he were a monster. Even while walking, his speed was astonishing, and soon he emerged from the hole. 0

But Zhang Fusheng was no god; how many people could fit into that small area? 0

Yet the Zombies relentlessly pressed forward, closing in on them. 0

"I'm out of bullets!" Wang Chao occasionally heard such exclamations as the sounds around them dwindled. Without firepower suppression, they could no longer hold back the advance of the Zombies. Many on the edges were pounced upon by Zombies, and cries of terror filled the air. With Wang Chao's abilities, he could easily escape alongside Zhang Fusheng, especially when he saw Huangfu Ling and Li Dewei closely following him. 0

"Run! Run!" Those outside Zhang Fusheng's perimeter scrambled toward him as surrounding Zombies approached them. In the chaos, Wang Chao leaped several times and reached Zhang Fusheng's side. 0

At that moment, Wang Chao heard Old Lei's voice ring out: "Warriors! I, Old Lei, have said that I will never let anyone protect me again in this lifetime. Even without guns or weapons, I am still a soldier! My fists are my weapons; my legs are my weapons! My name is Lei Ming! Fifty-eight years old this year! Remember my name! Kill!" 0

With that declaration, Old Lei charged forward without hesitation. Captain Lei did not try to stop him at all; instead, he laughed heartily and said, "A tiger father does not raise a dog! Am I not as good as an old man in his fifties? Remember my name too; this time we will truly fight side by side!" The scene was peculiar; countless people rushed toward Zhang Fusheng while two individuals surged against the tide into the midst of the Zombies. 0

"Ha ha, my name is Li Daqiang!" The bold voice of Da Qiang rang out. "I don't know what to say, but let's kill!" 0

Wang Chao stopped in his tracks. 0

"My name is Shen Zhiying..." 0

"My name is Shen Zhitao!" 0

Wang Chao watched as the members of the Bioterrorism Security Department charged into the horde of Zombies one by one. Countless people surged past Wang Chao, cursing at him for blocking their way. Yet, Wang Chao paid them no mind, merely watching the others rush into the Zombie crowd. They moved quickly, reaching the horde in just a few steps, engaging in a fierce battle. 0

"Why aren't you running?" Wang Chao murmured. "Why are you throwing yourselves into death? Don't you value your lives?" But the distant crowd could not hear his quiet words. Wang Chao clearly saw the smiles on the faces of those fighting far away among the Zombies. As he was lost in thought, he noticed even more people charging toward the horde. 0

"My name is Wei Tiezhu!" "My name is Wu Zhong!" "My name is Liu Chuan!" More people shouted their names, knowingly rushing toward their doom. 0

Wang Chao found himself unable to suppress the urge to charge forward. He felt his heart pounding wildly; that once-silent heart seemed to ignite with passion again. At that moment, Da Qiang was swinging his fists in circles, oblivious to a Zombie lying at his feet, ready to bite his leg. Just then, Wang Chao suddenly appeared and kicked the Zombie's head off, shouting, "Watch your step!" 0

"Brother Wang!" Da Qiang exclaimed. 0

Wang Chao nodded and smiled as he looked at the slaughtering crowd. Da Qiang feared death; he feared it even more. Yet sometimes, he found himself unafraid of dying—like now. In that instant, Wang Chao began to understand what it meant to have companions; companions are those with whom you fight side by side, willing to risk your life to protect them. The people charging in instinctively formed small circles around each other as they fought off the Zombies. 0

These small circles divided the Zombies into several sections. Wang Chao never expected that he would ultimately choose to stay behind when he could have escaped. Leaning against Shen Zhitao and Da Qiang's backs, Wang Chao said, "I didn't expect that today would be the day all of us from the Bioterrorism Security Department would perish here." 0

Shen Zhitao appeared remarkably calm at that moment and replied, "It's worth it; with so many people here, we can take down this many Zombies." 0

Da Qiang knocked back a row of Zombies before he had the chance to say, "I've always been foolish and clueless, making the wrong decisions time after time. But joining the Bioterrorism Security Department was the best decision I've ever made in my life!" 0

Tears streamed down Wang Chao's face, not out of fear, but because he had finally found companions. He had found those he could trust with his back, those he would risk his life for. Wang Chao was no longer alone; unlike the romantic feelings he shared with Yang Mengying or the familial bond with Yiyi, here in battle, everyone was a true companion. 0

"Kill!" Wang Chao shouted! 0
