The captain could not understand the relationship between Zhang Fusheng and Wang Chao, but he knew that Zhang Fusheng was not someone who could be dealt with by tank shells. Having spent a long time in the capital, he was aware of certain things that outsiders did not know. As the only third-generation heir of the Zhang Family, the most powerful family in the world, Zhang Fusheng appeared weak compared to other families that were flourishing. If anything were to happen to him, the Zhang Family would cease to exist.
Because of this, the Zhang Family, along with the Wu Family and Ai Family, poured all their efforts into Zhang Fusheng. In terms of strength, influence, and wealth, he could be considered the First Person of Huaxia; no one could rival him. This was why, at just over twenty years old and without any official or military position, he could command a captain with a major general's rank to cease fire with a single word.
The zombies on the battlefield had been almost completely wiped out by the intense artillery fire. The occasional survivor posed no significant threat. Zhang Fusheng stretched his wrists and walked towards Wang Chao. Wang Chao had been surrounded by heavy fire and had no room for counterattack; he could only curl up and hide behind his shield. The shield, made of flesh and blood, bore numerous marks from the bombardment but showed no signs of breaking. It was surprisingly harder than steel.
As the gunfire subsided, Wang Chao finally peeked out from behind his shield.
Zhang Fusheng looked at Wang Chao and said, "I really don't understand why you've become like this. But rest assured, even if you die, the country will give you a martyr's burial. It's a pity we couldn't fight against the zombies together at that moment—neither could anyone else. But after saying all this, you probably can't understand me. What a shame; otherwise, we would have surely become good friends."
Wang Chao tilted his head to look at Zhang Fusheng, feeling an even worse headache. He felt that he shouldn't take action; however, his instincts told him that everything here was an enemy and that he needed to destroy everything without leaving a single one alive. This conflicting emotion left him with a splitting headache as he let out a roar as if trying to expel the turmoil within him.
Zhang Fusheng shook his head, realizing that Wang Chao had transformed into a monster he no longer recognized. Suddenly, Wang Chao felt a tremor from Zhang Fusheng; this person was far more dangerous than any tank or artillery. Although there was about twenty meters between them, with a serious expression on his face, Zhang Fusheng closed the distance in an instant.
Wang Chao quickly raised his shield to defend against this attack. However, to his surprise, this time the shield did not absorb Zhang Fusheng's strike. Even when artillery hit Wang Chao, he did not budge an inch; yet when Zhang Fusheng landed a punch on him, Wang Chao was sent flying uncontrollably! He spat out blood but used the momentum to turn around; his shield transformed into hands as he dropped to all fours like a leopard, trying to evade Zhang Fusheng.
But Zhang Fusheng's speed was no slower than Wang Chao's; an animal on four legs should not outrun one on two! This defied logic! Yet at that moment, Wang Chao dared not slacken his efforts because Zhang Fusheng's hand chop was already coming down towards him. Wang Chao turned alertly because he knew that if he were struck by that hand chop, even if he didn't die, he would be severely injured.
Wang Chao executed a 360-degree sidestep to narrowly avoid the attack. But then Zhang Fusheng charged again and kicked directly at Wang Chao's chest. Wang Chao crashed into the wall behind him with such force that it created a large hole in it and sent him flying inside. That kick made him feel as though his internal organs were about to burst out; it felt like a storm raging within him.
He coughed up several mouthfuls of blood, each one brighter than the last—previously darkened blood now appeared distinctly redder.
Ignoring the blood spilling from his mouth, Wang Chao stood up.
With a kick from Zhang Fusheng, Wang Chao's chest caved in slightly, despite the fact that the mutated Wang Chao was impervious to bullets. This demonstrated just how powerful Zhang Fusheng's kick truly was. As Wang Chao stood up, stones fell from his body, and he smiled. Emerging from the large hole, he found Zhang Fusheng standing with his arms crossed, staring into the pit.
Upon seeing Wang Chao emerge, Zhang Fusheng's expression visibly softened, as if he had been worried that one kick could end Wang Chao's life. Now, witnessing Wang Chao charge out like a madman, he chuckled and said, "If I could kill you with just one kick, that would be too weak. Besides, running away isn't your style." Before he could finish his sentence, Wang Chao was already in front of him.
Using the tremendous momentum, Wang Chao threw a punch aimed at Zhang Fusheng's face. However, Zhang Fusheng merely sidestepped with ease, avoiding Wang Chao's attack without any hesitation. What Zhang Fusheng did not expect was that Wang Chao's fist transformed into a long Bone Knife in an incredibly swift and bizarre manner during the swing.
Zhang Fusheng was taken aback; he never imagined that Wang Chao could change the shape of his hand so quickly! The Bone Knife was extraordinarily sharp—far superior to any fine blade. If it struck him, he would likely be cut in half. Realizing this, Zhang Fusheng quickly leaned back until his back was nearly parallel to the ground, aligning his body with his thighs while keeping his calves raised for balance.
Just as he narrowly avoided Wang Chao's fierce Bone Knife strike, he saw Wang Chao's left hand morph into a hammer shape and come crashing down toward his head! Zhang Fusheng hurriedly raised both hands to block it, but the force behind Wang Chao's strike was immense. The blow slammed him into the hard Concrete Floor, creating a human-shaped dent upon impact.
Seeing his attack land successfully, Wang Chao transformed his other hand into a bone spike resembling a triangular blade and thrust it directly at Zhang Fusheng. At that moment, Zhang Fusheng felt as if countless bones in his back had shattered. Before he could even register the pain, the bone spike was right before him. He rolled on the ground just in time for the spike to graze his shoulder and pierce through his clothing, embedding itself into the ground.
With a tearing sound, Zhang Fusheng's shirt ripped open to reveal a shoulder bleeding profusely. He had no idea whether being pierced by Wang Chao would infect him with a virus; however, at that moment, he had no time to think about it. All he could focus on was how increasingly interesting this battle had become. It seemed that Wang Chao was truly enraged! Zhang Fusheng gently wiped the blood from his shoulder.
Meanwhile, Wang Chao's blood-red eyes were fixed intently on Zhang Fusheng.
