In a pair of blood-red eyes, a silver light flowed. However, if someone were to observe Zhang Fusheng at that moment, they would see a sapphire-like glow slowly gathering around the dark brown pupils, gradually condensing into shape. If Zhang Yunhao were present, he would undoubtedly recognize this as the evolution he had discovered. 0

From the pupils alone, it was clear that Wang Chao was no match for Zhang Fusheng. His realm was at most silver, while Zhang Fusheng had directly soared to the diamond level. How could he possibly compete? Yet, whether by the creator's design or fate's arrangement, Wang Chao was the first person in this world to exhibit signs of evolution. If Zhang Yunhao had discerned the laws of change in the world with his naked eye, then Wang Chao was the first to put those insights into action, even though none of this was voluntary on his part. 0

Fusion, mutation, evolution—a path of human evolution that no one could have anticipated—began at that moment between two individuals: one with no power and the other with immense influence in Huaxia. Much later, people would mark this day as the end of one era and the beginning of another, but these two clearly had yet to realize their roles as protagonists of this new age. 0

One was Wang Chao, who had yet to awaken from his bloodlust; the other was Zhang Fusheng, who sought pleasure in battle. 0

The two moved almost simultaneously. In a brief instant, they had engaged in countless exchanges. Despite Zhang Fusheng's overwhelming strength suppressing Wang Chao, he still had to be wary of Wang Chao's occasionally shifting hands. In this world, no one understood mutation better than Wang Chao. From the very first day of the Zombie outbreak, he had felt a mysterious gift from heaven—a power emanating from his entire being. Without that power, he would have died countless times. 0

If Zhang Fusheng possessed extraordinary talent and gained this mutated power after being infected by a virus, then Wang Chao's abilities were innate—woven into his very blood and flesh. Even without being infected by the Zombie Virus, Wang Chao would eventually walk down the path of mutation; it was just that the virus accelerated his evolution and brought about significant side effects. For instance, Wang Chao's inability to awaken from his killing spree stemmed from this. 0

Yet Wang Chao had already positioned himself at the forefront of the world. 0

His hands transformed—sometimes into blades, sometimes into spears, sometimes into hammers or shields. As he shifted forms fluidly, Zhang Fusheng noticed that Wang Chao's transformations were becoming increasingly adept. It was akin to how humans learn to use chopsticks; initially awkward but eventually becoming second nature. People could eat with chopsticks while reading or watching television without worrying about dropping them or failing to pick up food. 0

Wang Chao had made these transformations instinctual. Previously, whenever he needed to change form, he would subconsciously glance at his hands to visualize that feeling in his mind before they could shift. Though it only took a fleeting moment—a thought barely lasting a second—it was enough for skilled fighters; killing took even less time. 0

Zhang Fusheng hadn’t anticipated that during their battle, Wang Chao could elevate his abilities to such heights in such a short time. He suddenly recalled his grandfather Zhang Lao’s words: some people are born for battle. Until now, Zhang Fusheng had never believed this; he always thought everyone’s talents were relatively equal and that success came down to effort. 0

However, today’s encounter with Wang Chao made him realize that such people truly existed in this world. Born into the first family among the Seven Great Families, Zhang Fusheng had access to countless martial arts manuals and innumerable unnamed pills for enhancing inner strength. He also trained under some of the strongest individuals in existence. As Zhang Lao said, if he couldn’t reach diamond level with their guidance, then he truly would be worthless. 0

Zhang Fusheng dodged another strike from Wang Chao and knew that if he continued to toy with him, it might allow Wang Chao to evolve further during their fight. Suddenly, Zhang Fusheng trembled all over as if experiencing a seizure; however, upon closer inspection, one could see that every muscle in his body quivered rather than just parts moving together. The trembling Zhang Fusheng now exhibited speed and strength far beyond what he had shown before. 0

Despite Wang Chao's immense talent and his innate ability for combat, he could no longer keep up with Zhang Fusheng's movements. All he could see were fleeting shadows left in the air, the speed so astonishing it took his breath away. Before Wang Chao could even comprehend Zhang Fusheng's actions, he felt a tightening around his neck. It was only then that he realized a pair of hands had already gripped his throat. 0

Wang Chao transformed his hands into blades, aiming to strike at Zhang Fusheng's arm. 0

At that moment, Zhang Fusheng did not dodge or evade. With a swift motion, the Bone Knife sliced through Zhang Fusheng's arm, leaving a deep gash. Blood spurted out as Zhang Fusheng tightened his grip. Yet, instead of feeling exhilarated, Wang Chao was engulfed by a profound sense of despair. His once formidable Bone Knife had merely grazed Zhang Fusheng's arm, failing to even touch the bone beneath. 0

This was the difference between diamond and silver. If earlier Zhang Fusheng had wanted Wang Chao to die honorably in battle, now he simply wished for Wang Chao's death. Stars danced before Wang Chao's eyes as he felt himself on the brink of suffocation. He swung the Bone Knife wildly, but it failed to inflict any significant wounds on Zhang Fusheng. 0

"What a pity," Zhang Fusheng said with increasing pressure in his grip. "You are more suited for martial arts than I am. If only I had met you sooner, my family’s elders could have taught you a thing or two. You would have surpassed me for sure. But that opportunity is gone now. Don't be too sad; you're still the first person to use a second-level Breathing Technique against me. Rest in peace." 0

Just then, both men heard a voice calling from afar: "Wang Chao! Zhang Fusheng!" 0

Zhang Fusheng turned to look and saw Shen Zhitao running towards them. She had escaped earlier and was unaware of what had transpired between the two men. However, upon seeing Wang Chao's transformation and Zhang Fusheng’s intent to take his life, she understood that Wang Chao had likely become a Zombie but still hoped that Zhang Fusheng would not kill him. 0

Determined, Zhang Fusheng knew Shen Zhitao would not accept this outcome and aimed to strangle Wang Chao before she arrived. But suddenly, he noticed Wang Chao’s blood-red eyes gradually fading. 0

"Shen..." Wang Chao managed to speak. 0
