Everyone nodded in agreement, as it was clear that bringing someone like Yiyi along would only complicate matters without contributing anything useful, especially given the uncertainty of their opponents' strength. Although the intention was to train everyone for the apocalypse, it was best not to let them out in such circumstances. The three of them headed to the rooftop to take a helicopter. According to Shen Zhiying, they would fly the helicopter near the Industrial Park and then proceed on foot.
This way, the roar of the helicopter wouldn’t attract attention, and it would also save time.
They traveled in silence until they landed the helicopter. For safety's sake, Wang Chao had already gripped the Black Gold Dagger in his hand, while Shen Zhiying drew two Desert Eagles from her waist, looking incredibly imposing. Wang Chao couldn’t help but feel envious; although he had a gun at his waist too, his marksmanship paled in comparison to Shen Zhiying's. Moreover, Wang Chao's strength lay primarily in close combat.
Tang Feng did not accompany them; this was a decision Wang Chao made after careful consideration. If all three acted together and were exposed, they would be at a disadvantage. By having Tang Feng follow closely behind them, he could prevent such a situation from occurring. Even if they encountered trouble, Tang Feng could choose to either confront it head-on or find a way around. This arrangement pleased Shen Zhiying, who looked at Wang Chao with approval.
The three of them entered the Industrial Park in a formation of two in front and one behind. There weren’t many zombies here; aside from the previous large migration of zombies, it was evident that there had been some human intervention to clear them out. The evolved humans could easily handle ordinary zombies unless they were overwhelmed by ten times their number. Otherwise, they would need similarly evolved zombies to pose a threat, but it seemed unlikely that any existed here; otherwise, this place wouldn’t be considered a safe haven.
The Industrial Park was generally divided into two main sections: one for machinery processing and another for chemical industries. Wang Chao and Shen Zhiying naturally chose to explore the first section in search of factories capable of producing arrows like those they needed. After walking for about an hour through the vast area, they finally heard mechanical sounds coming from a certain location. They exchanged glances, and Shen Zhiying nodded, indicating that must be the place.
They advanced slowly for another half hour until a factory came into view. The factory was surrounded by simple barbed wire fencing, and there were makeshift ladders made of wood leading up at two points on the northeast side. It appeared these were entry points; due to the noise from the machines, several zombies had gathered around. However, near those ladders stood platforms tall enough that zombies couldn’t jump up but humans could easily access them. It seemed that some people had taken this place as their long-term refuge.
Wang Chao gestured for Shen Zhiying to follow him as they cautiously climbed the ladder and crossed over the barbed wire fence to finally reach the factory. Just as Wang Chao was about to speak, he suddenly reached out and pushed Shen Zhiying aside. At that moment, an arrow whizzed through the air between them, piercing several zombies before getting lodged in the head of the last one.
Shen Zhiying immediately raised her two Desert Eagles and fired without aiming. Wang Chao followed her line of fire and saw that about a hundred meters away, a steel plate had been riddled with holes through which sunlight streamed in. He could vaguely make out human figures; it seemed that was where the arrow had come from. The fact that Shen Zhiying could deduce the archer's position just by observing the arrow's trajectory spoke volumes about her skill.
The gunfire not only startled the zombies outside but also caused them to push against the barbed wire fence relentlessly. Fortunately, it was securely anchored deep into the ground, so there was no immediate danger of it collapsing under their weight. However, several people rushed out from nearby as well. Shen Zhiying stopped firing and turned her attention to those emerging from a distance. Just one glance was enough for Wang Chao to recognize who they were.
Leading the group was Shui Yun'er, whom Wang Chao had encountered back in town!
“Shui Yun'er!” Wang Chao shouted.
"Did you just say Wang Chao?" Shui Yun'er exclaimed almost simultaneously.
Shen Zhiying looked at Wang Chao with confusion, glancing at Shui Yun'er and the others, seemingly asking Wang Chao if he should lower his gun. Wang Chao slightly shook his head. Seeing this, Shen Zhiying kept both Desert Eagles aimed at the group. With Shen Zhiying's skills, if the other side dared to fight back, she could at least take down three of them. At that moment, Wang Chao also noticed someone approaching from behind the iron plate. As the person drew closer, Wang Chao recognized him as Zhuang Peng, the same individual he had encountered before!
Back then, Zhuang Peng had displayed a strong aggressiveness. Months had passed, and now he was wielding such bloody weapons. If Zhuang Peng had previously only robbed others of food and water, it was clear that he had now escalated to murder and robbery! Wang Chao assessed Zhuang Peng and confirmed that he indeed possessed Silver Mid-Tier capabilities.
Zhuang Peng spotted Wang Chao and was slightly taken aback. Back in the small town, Zhuang Peng had harbored murderous intent because he sensed an unusual determination and potential in Wang Chao's eyes that didn't match his then-current state. If it hadn't been for Shui Yun'er intervening, Wang Chao would have been dead by now. Now seeing that Wang Chao had reached the lower tier of Silver, only slightly below him, how could Zhuang Peng not feel surprised and regretful?
"I didn't expect this," Zhuang Peng said, unsure whether he meant he was surprised Wang Chao found this place or that he had reached the lower tier of Silver.
Wang Chao replied, "I'm here to ask one thing; I mean you no harm."
Zhuang Peng looked at Wang Chao with disdain and said, "Finding this place is impressive. What do you want to say?"
Wang Chao nodded and was about to speak when he noticed a subtle movement from Zhuang Peng's hand; it seemed he intended to draw an arrow from behind him. Suddenly, a strong sense of danger surged through Wang Chao. Without hesitation, he lunged forward, grabbing Shui Yun'er's hand and twisting around to choke her neck while simultaneously Zhuang Peng drew his bow.
The bow was made of bone, but it was reinforced with special alloys to maintain its rigidity. Even the edges of the bow were sharpened; it could serve as a melee weapon even without firing arrows. It appeared that Zhuang Peng had considerable skill in weapon modification.
"What are you doing?" Zhuang Peng shouted.
