Without any hesitation, Wang Chao opened fire on the heads of those monsters. He was well aware of the power of the Desert Eagle; even at a distance of a hundred meters, a single bullet could explode a person's head, let alone the mere few meters separating him from the creature.
Bullets spun out one after another, instantly blowing apart several heads on the monster's abdomen. Wang Chao was overjoyed and continued shooting, only to see the monster wrap its arms around those heads, protecting them within its embrace. The bullets struck the monster's arms but had no effect, as if they were sinking into the ocean without a trace. The hardness of the monster's arms was terrifying!
However, Wang Chao also discerned the monster's weak point from its actions. Sure enough, those numerous heads were its vulnerability. It seemed that if he could blow them all apart, it would be the monster's demise. But what could Wang Chao do to achieve that?
In just a few seconds, his magazine was emptied. Before he could reload, the monster shielded its heads with one hand and swung its fists with the other, charging toward Wang Chao once more. Damn it! Wang Chao thought quickly and summoned a Submachine Gun from his Spatial Ring.
He fired continuously, but this time the monster remained unfazed. Although he managed to blow apart one or two heads, most were blocked by the monster's arm, and the bullets that sprayed forth failed to inflict significant damage! On the contrary, the monster charged through the hail of bullets as if intent on turning Wang Chao into pulp!
Damn it! Wang Chao cursed under his breath and hurriedly stowed the Submachine Gun back into his Spatial Ring. He then lunged forward to evade the monster's massive fist. Just as he dodged that punch, the creature lifted a foot as if to stomp him like an insect.
The monster's foot was enormous; even with Wang Chao's leap of five or six meters, it was a trivial distance for such a giant. As its foot descended toward him, he knew that if it landed squarely, his body would be flattened into a pancake. In that critical moment, Wang Chao activated his Breathing Technique and pushed off the ground, propelling himself backward just in time to avoid being crushed.
In an instant, the Black Gold Dagger reappeared in Wang Chao's hand. He swung it fiercely at the monster's ankle, but despite drawing blood, he barely scratched its muscle. To this creature, it was no more than a superficial wound! He was no match for it; now all he could do was escape. Using his Breathing Technique to draw the monster away before returning to rescue Wu Wan'er seemed like his best option. The creature was massive; if he took a shortcut, it might not even see him!
With that thought in mind, Wang Chao wasted no time and sprinted backward. The monster noticed and immediately gave chase. Although its speed wasn't great, each step covered considerable ground, and they didn't seem to be creating much distance between them. "Just around that corner—accelerate!" Wang Chao thought. Within three seconds, he reached the corner but hadn’t had time to speed up when he saw several people emerge from around it. Instinctively rolling to avoid them, he glanced back and realized it was Zhuang Peng and others.
Both men were momentarily stunned. Zhuang Peng spoke up first: "It really is true that enemies gather together..."
"Run for your life! Stop speaking in classical Chinese!" Wang Chao shouted. "There's a monster behind us!"
"You must be joking..." Before Zhuang Peng could finish his sentence, he felt vibrations from the ground beneath him. Without turning back, he grabbed hold of a small man and a woman without any defenses and bolted outside.
The others saw this and began to run after Zhuang Peng, but one woman who had not evolved reacted too slowly and was crushed into a pulp by the giant monster's foot, blood splattering dozens of meters away. The monster did not pause and charged directly at the crowd. Wang Chao and Zhuang Peng exchanged glances and almost simultaneously said, "Let's cooperate. We'll deal with everything after we kill the monster!"
Wang Chao nodded and spoke rapidly, "I'll distract it. You shoot the head on its belly. If I die, you won't survive either!"
"I know, stop wasting time." As he spoke, Zhuang Peng had already drawn two arrows from behind him, nocking them on the bowstring before releasing them with a swift motion. The arrows flew horizontally and instantly pierced through two heads. Seeing this, the monster covered its belly with one arm and charged forward. "It's up to you now!" Zhuang Peng called out to Wang Chao.
"Leave it to me!" Wang Chao replied.
As soon as he finished speaking, Wang Chao dashed out, his Black Gold Dagger slashing at the monster's ankles. The saying about a toad on the foot—harmless yet annoying—was perfectly suited for this situation. The monster could only stomp down repeatedly at Wang Chao, but he always activated his Breathing Technique just in time, managing to leap out of the way of its crushing feet.
Each time the monster attacked Wang Chao, despite blocking its belly with one arm, it still left a large opening exposed. Although Wang Chao had his doubts about Zhuang Peng's character, he had complete confidence in Zhuang Peng's archery skills. Every time Zhuang Peng drew his bow, he would surely burst one of those heads on the monster's belly. After several shots, he had managed to explode about five or six heads.
When Zhuang Peng shot another head off the monster, it finally reached its breaking point. It abandoned its attack on Wang Chao and rushed toward Zhuang Peng and the others in just a few strides, swinging an arm to sweep them away! At that moment, Zhuang Peng shouted loudly, "Gangzi!" The nearly two-meter-tall man leaped forward with a shout, using both hands to block!
At that moment, Zhuang Peng pulled out four arrows and placed them in the gaps between his fingers before drawing his bowstring.
"Yah! Ha!" Just then, the monster's powerful arm came crashing down, but Gangzi did not flinch or evade. He shouted loudly as he clamped down on the monster's arm with both hands, engaging in a struggle without losing ground! Wang Chao was surprised that the scene of everyone being swept away did not happen; instead, Gangzi single-handedly caught the monster's arm. However, the immense force caused him to spit out a mouthful of blood.
"Quick!" Gangzi shouted through gritted teeth.
At that moment, four arrows shot out with a whistling sound!
