Everyone stared in awe at Wang Chao's transforming hands, their mouths agape. Compared to the massive monster that had just collapsed, Wang Chao's abilities seemed even more monstrous. Turning back, without a moment's hesitation, Wang Chao charged directly at Zhuang Peng. Zhuang Peng's strength lay in his fierce arrow attacks, but in close combat, Wang Chao believed that even though Zhuang Peng was slightly taller than him, he would not be a match for him.
Moreover, at that critical moment when danger loomed, Wang Chao's long-lost skill reemerged. As he leaped forward, his hands transformed into two Bone Knives. It was only then that Zhuang Peng and the others snapped back to reality. By this time, there was no chance to retrieve his arrows; Zhuang Peng had no choice but to raise his bow. As previously mentioned, Zhuang Peng's curved bow had blades on both sides and could also serve as a melee weapon for slashing.
The sound of metal clashing echoed as Wang Chao's Bone Knives met Zhuang Peng's bone bow. The fact that both weapons were made of bone yet produced such a sound indicated their incredible hardness! They grappled closely together. Gritting his teeth, Zhuang Peng said, "You call me a monster? You are the real monster here!" Wang Chao retorted with a cold laugh, "Those who use living bones to make bows and arrows are the true monsters!"
"Some people find liberation only in death!" Zhuang Peng said fiercely. "Just like you!"
Wang Chao burst into laughter and replied, "Don't pretend to be a saint; liberation or not is someone else's business!" With that, Wang Chao made a powerful slash, and Zhuang Peng responded with equal force. Both retreated a few steps. At this moment, Zhuang Peng called out, "Shui Yun'er, go!" Shui Yun'er glanced at Wang Chao and then at Zhuang Peng, seemingly making a significant decision before charging toward Wang Chao.
As Wang Chao's Bone Knife approached, Shui Yun'er had no choice but to defend herself. She flicked her wrist and produced a dagger from her sleeve, gripping it tightly. Shui Yun'er's weapon was a Sleeve Blade. Wang Chao knew that if he got entangled with Shui Yun'er for more than three seconds, it would give Zhuang Peng enough time to shoot an arrow! Therefore, he decided not to linger in battle and quickly executed a move before sprinting toward Zhuang Peng to make it difficult for him to shoot.
However, Shui Yun'er was relentless. Gritting his teeth, Wang Chao opened and closed his Bone Knife like scissors. Although Shui Yun'er and Wang Chao were both at the lower tier of Silver rank, Wang Chao's combat ability far surpassed hers by an unknown margin. Since his powers had emerged, he had faced life-and-death situations countless times. While he didn't know how Shui Yun'er had reached the lower tier of Silver rank, he was confident that he was invincible within that tier!
Rapid attacks left Shui Yun'er with no chance to counterattack. Suddenly, she stumbled—an opportunity! Wang Chao's eyes lit up as one Bone Knife lunged straight for Shui Yuner's chest. At that moment, four arrows from Zhuang Peng whistled through the air! Yet Wang Chao did not flinch; he continued to thrust the Bone Knife forward while his other hand transformed into a shield. The four arrows struck and bounced off harmlessly.
"That shield formed from his hand is even harder than the arm of that giant monster!" Zhuang Peng thought in shock. He hadn't expected Wang Chao's strength to be so terrifying. Regret washed over him; if he had known earlier, he should have shot Wang Chao dead back in the small town! In just a few months' time, Wang Chao had gained such formidable power—he remembered when they first met; Wang Chao hadn't even been worth a finger!
If he didn't eliminate Wang Chao now while he was still in his cradle of power, in a few months' time, none of them would stand a chance against him!
Wang Chao was unaware of the myriad thoughts racing through Zhuang Peng’s mind at that moment. Just as he was about to pierce Shui Yuner's chest, Gangzi suddenly shouted and charged forward—not targeting Wang Chao but aiming for Shui Yun'er instead. Gangzi threw himself into Shui Yun'er’s path; however, Wang Chao’s Bone Knife pierced directly into Gangzi’s arm as he pulled back sharply, causing one of Gangzi’s arms to fall to the ground.
Just as Wang Chao intended to press his advantage further, an arrow came flying toward him again. He hurriedly raised his shield to block it; however, this arrow came with tremendous force—it could easily break through his shield! Activating the Breathing Technique instantly allowed him to deflect the arrow! But right after that came Zhuang Peng himself! "His speed is on par with mine; has he been holding back all this time?" Wang Chao thought anxiously.
An arrow flew through the air, followed by another. However, this second arrow was not shot; it was grasped in Zhuang Peng's hand and thrust toward Wang Chao like a sword!
Wang Chao quickly sidestepped to avoid it, but another arrow appeared right in front of him! In an instant, his shield transformed into a Bone Knife, blocking the second arrow just in time. Yet, a sudden wave of pain surged through Wang Chao's abdomen; Zhuang Peng had kicked him squarely in the stomach. Wang Chao showed no reaction, indicating just how swift and precise that kick had been.
In almost an instant, Wang Chao was sent flying several meters away. Even with the Breathing Technique activated, he struggled to withstand Zhuang Peng's kick! In a flash, Zhuang Peng reappeared before Wang Chao, two arrows poised in his hands like a fierce whirlwind, moving so fast that Wang Chao could barely see them! Wang Chao could only respond in kind, wielding his Bone Knife with both hands in a desperate flurry. However, the Breathing Technique could not be maintained for long; once it faded, Wang Chao would find it nearly impossible to withstand such a relentless assault!
Realizing this, Wang Chao understood that the key lay within these fleeting seconds—whoever faltered first would meet their demise!
Suddenly, Wang Chao abandoned all attempts at defense. As the saying goes, offense is the best defense. He disregarded Zhuang Peng's chaotic attacks; one hand formed a shield while the other thrust the Bone Knife directly forward. He discarded complex maneuvers for a simple yet powerful stab! Although his shield provided some protection, deep gashes appeared across his chest, with wounds several centimeters deep.
Yet Wang Chao's thrust also found its mark in Zhuang Peng's arm. Just as he was about to draw back his knife, Zhuang Peng leaped backward. Wang Chao's Bone Knife sliced through empty air instead; thanks to Zhuang Peng's quick thinking, otherwise that arm would surely have been severed!
Zhuang Peng wanted to press forward but then heard voices from a distance. Wang Chao recognized them as Shen Zhitao and Yiyi.
"Over there! There’s a huge monster!" Yiyi's voice echoed from around the corner.
At this, Zhuang Peng turned and ran without hesitation. Meanwhile, Wang Chao's Breathing Technique was reaching its limit!
