As soon as the voice of the One-Eyed Dragon fell, the sound of bullets being loaded echoed, indicating that firing would be instantaneous. Wang Chao truly did not expect the One-Eyed Dragon to be so decisive in his actions, and that these soldiers could actually pull the trigger. Upon hearing the command, the crowd of over a hundred people stopped shouting and instead linked arms, standing shoulder to shoulder. The brave men among them pushed forward, protecting the women, children, and elderly behind them.
Those who did not participate in the riot stood far off in a corner, silently shedding tears. The massive crowd of four to five thousand people was packed together, yet not a single word was spoken; only the sound of sobbing could be heard. It was eerily quiet. Wang Chao clenched his fists tightly, gritting his teeth to suppress his impulsive feelings. However, how could any man with blood in his veins not feel anger upon witnessing such a scene?
Suddenly, a fragmented singing voice rose up, followed by a thousand voices singing in unison with a powerful and resonant tone. Yet the One-Eyed Dragon remained unmoved; he laughed heartily again and shouted to the twenty men behind him, "Fire! Fire!" Just as he finished speaking, Wang Chao stepped forward and said, "Wait!"
Everyone turned to look at Wang Chao. The soldiers had just become acquainted with him but recognized that he seemed to know Commander Yu, so they refrained from firing and quietly watched Wang Chao. The One-Eyed Dragon was about to say something when Wang Chao interrupted him, stepping closer and saying, "Seven Brothers, hold your fire for now. I haven't done anything for Commander Yu since I arrived here. Let me handle this situation today, alright?"
"You?" the One-Eyed Dragon replied. "What gives you the right..." But before he could finish his sentence, Old Hao placed a hand on his shoulder. The One-Eyed Dragon turned to look at him with a puzzled expression, and Old Hao whispered in his ear, "This is also a kind of test; you understand?" The One-Eyed Dragon's expression changed, then he laughed heartily and patted Wang Chao on the shoulder, saying, "Alright then, you take care of it. Lower your weapons."
"Haha, don't worry! I’ll handle it," Wang Chao feigned a cheerful demeanor. Although he had no idea what they had whispered about, he couldn't afford to think too much at that moment; he couldn't just stand by and watch these hundred people get slaughtered! Forgive me everyone; just give me some time—give us a little time—and I will definitely eliminate those three!
With that thought in mind, Wang Chao shouted loudly and charged directly into the crowd of a hundred.
The group had never anticipated that Wang Chao would charge straight at them. Given their Black Iron or Brass Lower Level capabilities, they were no match for Wang Chao's Silver Mid-Tier strength. Before they could react, Wang Chao plunged into their ranks; every punch and kick knocked someone down! Wang Chao's heart bled; this was not his intention. However, to prevent these people from dying unjustly and only suffer minor injuries, he had to act this way.
The crowd barely had time to react before they felt darkness envelop them or their arms and ankles struck hard as they fell to the ground amidst splattering blood. Yet if anyone looked closely, they would see that these wounds posed no life-threatening danger; they wouldn’t even affect their daily lives. The thunder was loud but the rain was light; accompanied by Wang Chao's shouts, those around saw blood flowing freely and heard continuous cries of pain without realizing that each person's small amount of blood combined could create a river of blood.
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" With every strike he delivered, Wang Chao felt as if each punch and kick landed on himself.
"Fraud! Fraud!" someone in the crowd shouted. Wang Chao looked over and saw a middle-aged woman he had encountered at noon standing among the people. She stared fiercely at him with an expression full of anger; her voice was low but filled with rage as if she wanted to swallow him whole. At that moment, Wang Chao could not defend himself; otherwise, revealing any weakness would surely raise suspicion among the crowd.
Grinding his teeth, Wang Chao struck down the middle-aged woman with what appeared to be great force but was merely enough to knock her unconscious. Although this person might expose his plan, Wang Chao could not go so far as to kill her; otherwise, what would be the point of his plan? In just a few minutes, dozens fell down; although many retaliated against him, their punches felt like mere tickles against his body and had no effect whatsoever.
As he moved forward, there were no men in sight; instead, only the elderly and children remained. Wang Chao paused, his raised hand hesitating momentarily. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the One-Eyed Dragon smiling at him, seemingly still waiting for Wang Chao to make a move. Wang Chao knew that if he stopped now, it would surely arouse the One-Eyed Dragon's suspicion, but could he really harm a child?
At that moment, a little boy rushed up to Wang Chao, repeatedly hitting him. Unfortunately, the boy's strength was far too weak to inflict any damage. With a thought, Wang Chao lifted the child effortlessly, preparing to tear him apart. This action shocked everyone present. Wang Chao declared, "I told you, someone is ensuring your safety. What else do you want? Let me tell you, Commander Yu has been merciful to you all. If it were me—ha!" He chuckled darkly and continued, "The outcome would be just like this child!"
Saying this, Wang Chao "harshly" threw the child downward. In reality, he used just enough force to ensure that the boy landed safely on top of another fallen person below him—a double assurance that the child should be fine. However, to outsiders, it appeared as if Wang Chao was utterly ruthless, sparing not even a child.
Wang Chao's sinister laughter echoed across the ground while his heart bled inside.
With his back turned to the crowd, Wang Chao extended his arms as if to embrace the One-Eyed Dragon and Old Hao ahead of him but discreetly shielded the child at the same time. As he walked, he said, "Hey, brothers, why waste bullets on these commoners? It’s better to let me practice my skills. By the way, the moonlight tonight is lovely; how about we head back and have a couple of drinks together?"
The One-Eyed Dragon chuckled while Old Hao suspiciously glanced at the fallen man and the blood-soaked ground. Satisfied, he nodded and said, "I didn't expect Brother Wang Chao to be so decisive and bloody in his methods. It seems there’s more blood spilled than if we had used guns. These commoners surely won’t dare to cause more trouble now. Gather up; I want to return and learn some techniques from Brother Wang Chao—ha ha."
"Ha ha! I’m looking forward to sharing some insights with you both!" With that, Wang Chao draped an arm around their shoulders as they walked toward the Military Jeep together.
