Unexpectedly, Commander Yu had brought Wang Chao here to watch the beast fights. In this apocalypse, people died every moment, yet Commander Yu remained indifferent, dragging Wang Chao out early in the morning to witness such a spectacle. It was truly infuriating. Wang Chao clenched his fist tightly behind his back. As long as Commander Yu ruled this Safe Zone, the people within it would be at greater risk. For every person who ventured out to obtain Crystal for him, another would die. 0

We must eliminate Commander Yu as soon as possible! Wang Chao thought to himself. 0

Just then, a corner of the cage opened, and the Mourning Lion charged in without a second thought. The iron cage immediately slammed shut, trapping the fierce Mourning Lion inside. Perhaps there was something alive within that attracted it. This demonstrated that animals would always remain animals; no matter how evolved they became, their instincts remained intact. Humans toyed with them at will, and in this world, the most terrifying and cruel beings were still humans themselves. 0

With the Mourning Lion trapped inside, two doors opened elsewhere. A robust man stepped out from one door; he clearly had military experience, though his strength was hard to gauge from a distance. From the other door poured a steady stream of ordinary human Zombies—about thirty of them. The iron cage descended from above, sealing both doors shut with no way back. 0

As soon as the thirty or so Zombies spotted a living person, their instincts kicked in. They surged toward the man like a swarm. At this moment, even ordinary Zombies could run at a speed comparable to a human's jog. The man's expression changed dramatically upon seeing the Zombies. Wang Chao dug his nails into his palm while Commander Yu laughed heartily, glancing around as he said, "This man has no Zombie antibodies; if he gets bitten, we can easily imagine his fate. But even if he turns into a Zombie, he'll definitely be a crippled one! Ha ha!" 0

Commander Yu's words nearly made Wang Chao explode with rage, but he held himself back. Even if he could kill Commander Yu with one strike, Old Hao and One-Eyed Dragon were not opponents he could handle alone. There were armed guards outside; he had no backup. If he were shot down in a hail of bullets, it would be an utterly humiliating death. Wang Chao had his limits but wouldn’t gamble with his life. 0

Looking down at the cage, the man was already cornered by the Zombies and desperately clinging to the side of the cage, trying to climb up. However, the gaps between the iron bars were too narrow—only three fingers could fit through at most. Even if he managed to hang on with his hands, there was no way for his shod feet to find purchase. 0

With Zombies closing in on him, over thirty had formed a circle around him. He could only retreat backward; there was no escape now. He faced two choices: confront these Zombies head-on or continue struggling to climb up the cage. But without antibodies, how could he avoid injury? 0

The simple choice was clear: climbing up was his only chance for survival. 0

Yet climbing up was far from easy. His three fingers were deeply marked by the iron bars as he struggled upward half a meter. The pursuing Zombies grabbed at his legs while more lunged at his calves to bite him. Knowing he was doomed, the man summoned his last instinct for survival. 0

He cried out in desperation and pushed upward with all his might—his three fingers managed to rise another half meter! Upon closer inspection, it was evident that his fingers had been crushed by the iron mesh; two of them were even broken and deformed. Yet he showed no hesitation and continued upward despite being pulled down by more than ten Zombies. 0

Just as it seemed he would be dragged down by them, he did something that astonished Wang Chao: he withdrew his right hand and formed a fist before smashing it into the narrow gap of the iron mesh where only three fingers could fit. How could a fist possibly penetrate? But that man summoned every ounce of strength within him for this moment; when his fist made contact with the mesh, flesh and skin tore away in chunks, revealing stark white bone beneath—but somehow, his fist managed to wedge itself into the gap while that bony hand clung tightly to the iron mesh. 0

In that moment, his calves had already been devoured by numerous Zombies, leaving only stark white bones behind. More Zombies crawled up his body, biting at his waist. As the number of Zombies increased, he could no longer hold on, and with a final drop of the Zombies, he fell from the waist down. His lower half lay on the ground, but his upper body still hung on the barbed wire by that stark white bony fist. 0

His innards continuously fell from his body, dangling in the air by the connecting muscles. Yet at that moment, he had not completely died; he continued to emit a wailing scream akin to a ghost's howl. Wang Chao could hardly bear to watch, but Commander Yu was thoroughly entertained, exchanging thoughts with the one-eyed man behind him and occasionally asking Wang Chao for his opinions. 0

Wang Chao could only force a smile. 0

Cruel, unimaginably cruel. 0

Finally, the man succumbed to death completely; perhaps for him, death was the best release. They used live bait to lure more Zombies into the cage. The man's corpse hung there on the barbed wire, and this time, no one paid it any mind. As Breeze emerged, she drifted slowly with the wind, her remaining skin flapping gently. 0

"That man was quite impressive today," Commander Yu said seriously, nodding as if he found the man's "performance" fascinating. He added, "Wang Chao, you must have opened your eyes this morning." Wang Chao forced a smile and replied, "Indeed, it was quite spectacular—especially that scene with the intestines all over the ground; it was truly thrilling." 0

"I didn't expect you to be so passionate about it," Commander Yu laughed heartily and then remarked, "Looks like you’ve killed your fair share of people before?" 0

Wang Chao thought to himself that he had indeed killed many, and the next one would be him! But outwardly he said, "Killing is just a small matter compared to your creativity!" 0
