Wang Chao clearly knew that his last punch was his strongest strike, delivered without a hint of hesitation or retreat. In a state of heightened breathing, the power behind that punch could easily penetrate steel plates several centimeters thick. If Commander Yu survived that, Wang Chao could only wonder if anyone present could truly kill him.
Suddenly, Wang Chao thought of Zhang Fusheng, the strongest man in the world. The strength at the lower levels of diamond was something Wang Chao could hardly believe. He had once managed to fight Zhang Fusheng for ten rounds without losing, but now, facing someone at the Golden Lower Level had pushed him to the brink of death. As his strength increased, Wang Chao began to feel the vast differences between levels. When would he reach such heights?
With these thoughts swirling in his mind, Wang Chao felt himself growing faint. Once the breathing technique wore off, an overwhelming fatigue washed over him, making him feel as if he hadn’t slept in a week. This was the aftereffect of the Breathing Technique. However, with Commander Yu dead, his mission was complete. Sleep seemed inevitable as his eyelids grew heavy. Just then, he noticed Commander Yu lying on the ground starting to move, trembling as if he were trying to stand.
"Damn it..." Before Wang Chao could finish his thought, he drifted into a deep sleep.
He didn’t know how long it had been when he suddenly jolted awake from a dream. Sitting up abruptly, he shouted, "Watch out for Commander Yu!" But as soon as he spoke, he realized he was no longer in the arena. Laughter surrounded him. Looking around carefully, he saw that he was lying on a bed surrounded by concerned faces—Da Qiang, Shen Zhiying, Yiyi, and Yang Mengying—his teammates had all gathered.
Da Qiang wore his usual goofy smile and patted Wang Chao on the shoulder, causing him to wince in pain. Just as he tried to lift his arms to rub his shoulder, he was shocked to find that he couldn’t raise either arm. Looking down, he saw that both arms were wrapped up tightly. Glancing at other parts of his body revealed that his chest was also secured; even on his face, he felt the presence of bandages. Had they turned him into a mummy?
But this wasn’t the time for such worries. Wang Chao knew that as long as his internal organs weren’t severely damaged, healing would come in due time. However, questions filled his mind. "When I passed out, I clearly saw Commander Yu trying to stand up. Did you guys manage to deal with him?" Upon hearing this question, everyone shook their heads.
Da Qiang spoke up, "That Commander Yu wasn’t killed by us. Do you remember that half corpse hanging on the iron net?"
How could Wang Chao forget? That was the body that had been bitten to death by zombies earlier that morning, leaving only half of it hanging on the iron net. When he struck Commander Yu down, that corpse had fallen right beside him; he remembered it vividly. Now that Da Qiang mentioned it, Wang Chao didn’t quite understand what it meant and could only nod silently. Seeing this reaction, Da Qiang continued explaining: "The corpse fell next to Commander Yu. When he stood up again, that half-corpse had already turned into a Zombie and bit him hard. After you hit Commander Yu and injured him severely, he let his guard down and got pulled down by that half-corpse which bit into his neck. He didn’t have the strength to resist and was completely drained by the Zombie—he died without a doubt."
Hearing this made Wang Chao sigh in disbelief; who would have thought that such a formidable figure as Commander Yu would ultimately be killed by an ordinary Zombie that hadn’t even evolved? If only Commander Yu hadn’t been torn apart by so many Zombies earlier or if someone had cleared away that corpse—perhaps things wouldn’t have ended this way; fate truly played tricks on people.
Wang Chao nodded thoughtfully before asking, "What about the others? What happened to One-Eyed Dragon Lao Hao?"
Da Qiang scratched his head and pondered for a moment before replying, "Old Hao is dead for sure after our combined attack. However, the One-Eyed Dragon didn’t die completely; killing him would be easy for any child now. We discovered this while cleaning up the battlefield later on. Just as we were about to take action against him, Xiao Wei stopped us and said keeping him alive might still be useful."
"Well, let's just do it as Xiao Wei says," Wang Chao remarked. He knew that Xiao Wei must have some plan in mind, and he wasn't particularly worried about it. He continued to ask, "So, with this, all of Commander Yu's minions should be wiped out, right? The Safe Zone should be peaceful now."
Da Qiang nodded and replied, "Originally, Liu Jie and the others wanted to come see you, but Shen Zhitao sent them away. Besides, there are still many things to take care of in the Safe Zone, so they were all called away by Xiao Wei. You’ve become a hero in their eyes now."
Wang Chao didn't feel particularly excited about this. There's a saying that goes, with great power comes great responsibility. As a hero, one must have the awareness of a hero. However, Wang Chao didn't need to worry about that right now; after all, there were no heroes who couldn't use both arms. With Xiao Wei handling things in the Safe Zone, Wang Chao felt a lot more relaxed. But once he had a moment of downtime, various issues began to arise.
"I say, everyone, how long have I been unconscious? Why do I feel so hungry? With my current state, I feel like I could eat a whole cow!" Wang Chao exclaimed. "Also, why do I suddenly need to use the restroom... but I feel a bit weak. Is there anyone kind enough to help me out?"
When it came to food, no one reacted much at first. However, upon hearing his last sentence, several people jumped up and rushed out the door. Wang Chao thought to himself that he was indeed speaking the truth; with both arms unable to move, was he supposed to use his feet to pull down his pants?
"I say, Da Qiang?" Wang Chao asked tentatively.
"Hehe," Da Qiang grinned foolishly and walked away.
"Brother Tang?" Wang Chao pressed on.
Tang Feng, following behind Da Qiang, also left.
Now Wang Chao was in a bind; the only ones left were Yang Mengying, Wu Wan'er, and Yiyi. He wondered if they could still have some fun together. He tentatively asked, "Yang Mengying? Wan'er?"
Both of them turned red simultaneously and walked away hand in hand.
