"Retreat to the side gate by the lake and draw the Zombie Squad away! We must not let them head up to the back mountain! While the walls are still holding, hurry and fall back!" The number of Zombies was in the hundreds of thousands, but even if every man in the Safe Zone fought with their lives, there were barely two thousand of them. This was a war they could not win; all their lives combined wouldn't even fill the gaps between these Zombies' teeth! 0

"Brothers, don't get caught up in fighting, retreat quickly!" At that moment, Liu Jie returned to the scene. Wang Chao asked, "Have Xiao Wei and the others been settled?" Liu Jie nodded, shooting as he spoke. "Don't worry, let's go, we can't hold this position any longer!" As he spoke, everyone quickly ran toward the side gate. Rocks continued to fall, and the opening grew larger; countless Zombies surged in like toothpaste squeezed from a tube. 0

The first to be hit were those near the iron gate. The Zombie Dogs, accompanied by dark monsters, charged in first. In an instant, over a hundred people fell victim to their sharp fangs and claws. Following them were the Zombies that sprayed Mucus, attacking every living creature they saw. The Mucus was highly corrosive; it stuck to people's bodies—though not fatal, it caused excruciating pain! 0

"Run! Run!" Many people were already panicking and shouting, "We can't possibly fight them! We're all going to die here; I don't want to die!" A significant number headed toward the back mountain, pursued by numerous Zombies. Wang Chao shouted urgently, "Don't go toward the back mountain! Do you want to endanger those who can't fight back—the elderly and women? Get back here!" 0

But no one listened to Wang Chao. When fear became their only feeling, they lost all reason. They thought only of their own survival; others' lives meant nothing to them. This was humanity's basest instinct—selfishness stripped away any pretense of morality. Why should they die to protect those women? 0

"Don't listen to him! We're the ones dying, not him! Anyone who wants to live, follow me!" one person shouted. Everyone understood that facing such a multitude of Zombies, they were all cannon fodder; the only difference was who would die first. The man continued shouting, "Outside the side gate are more Zombies! But if we run toward the back mountain and leave those women behind, we might still survive!" 0

Clearly, the two-thousand-strong group split into two factions. Most continued running toward the side gate with Wang Chao, but about several hundred headed for the back mountain. Wang Chao gritted his teeth and shouted, "Tang Feng, Liu Jie, keep leading them toward the side gate! I'll be right back!" Tang Feng nodded; he had never seen Wang Chao like this before—his eyes were bloodshot and his face fierce as if a beast lurked within him. 0

Tang Feng nodded again as Wang Chao swept out like a whirlwind. He barely touched the ground as he moved, his right hand gripping tightly onto the hilt of his blade on his back. 0

"Brothers, run! Don't let those Zombies catch up!" The earlier speaker continued to incite panic among them. As long as they reached the back mountain and hid away from those Zombies, they would be safe—victory was within reach! But his calculations fell apart when reality dealt him a heavy blow. Suddenly, he found himself face-to-face with a figure wielding a long knife; he barely had time to look up. 0

"Wang Chao... you..." Before he could finish speaking, he felt himself flying through the air. He looked down at everyone—Zombies, Wang Chao—and then at his own body. Wang Chao's Panlong Blade was incredibly sharp; by the time his head flew into the air, he hadn't even realized he had been decapitated... Then he fell like a stone to the ground below where others trampled him into pulp. 0

Wang Chao swung his Panlong Blade relentlessly; several people in front of him were severed at the waist. "As long as I'm in the Safe Zone, no man shall set foot on that back mountain!" Wang Chao plunged his Panlong Blade into the ground before him, eyes blazing with fury. The killing intent radiating from him was a hundredfold stronger than any fear brought by the Zombies behind him. "Get out of my way!" His roar shattered the air. 0

"Move back! Move back!" shouted someone ahead. Faced with Zombies, they felt like they were walking on thin ice; yet with Wang Chao here, they knew it would be ten times worse for them if he wasn't around. They had never imagined that this usually kind-hearted leader could be so resolute and decisive in battle—he seemed like a hellish warrior risen from darkness! 0

No one dared to step onto the road leading to the back mountain anymore. 0

"Open the side door!" Tang Feng shouted. "Da Qiang and I will clear the way in front; you must keep up! Da Qiang, charge out without hesitation! We can't let the Zombies outside block us, or we'll be trapped with no way out!" As soon as he finished speaking, the side door was opened. Da Qiang let out a roar and charged out with the others. Although there weren't many Zombies by the lakeside, they numbered in the thousands. 0

Da Qiang didn't care whether there were Zombies outside; he rushed out without a second thought, knocking over countless Zombies along the way, like a human tank carving a path. The others followed in single file. "Hurry, hurry! I'll cover the rear during our retreat!" Due to their earlier return, Wang Chao found himself among the last wave of retreating individuals. 0

With constant attacks from Zombie Dogs and Black Monsters, those around Wang Chao were often pounced on, unable to scream before being torn apart in an instant! Wang Chao's Panlong Blade had turned completely red, stained by the blood of countless people and monsters. 0

"Look! The side door is right ahead! As long as we can get through, there's a chance to survive—don't stop!" Who isn't afraid of death? The remaining few had unleashed all their potential, but compared to those monsters, they were still painfully slow. "Wu Lu, hurry up!" At that moment, Wu Lu was covered in blood, unable to tell if it was his own or someone else's. 0

The side door was right in front of them, but behind them, Zombie Dogs and Black Monsters had already mixed in with the crowd. It looked like the side door would soon be blocked by these monsters, trapping everyone inside. Wang Chao yanked off a Zombie Dog that had latched onto his arm, but there were simply too many of them. Suddenly, he saw Wu Lu being torn apart by several Zombie Dogs. 0

Wu Lu kicked towards Wang Chao. Caught off guard, Wang Chao was unexpectedly kicked out through the side door. 0

Then, Wu Lu single-handedly held both sides of the door shut, preventing both Zombies and humans from getting through! 0
