Dozens of giant Zombies were rushing in from behind, their large feet caked with Mucus and the blood of other Zombies. With each step they took, the mixed fluids splattered everywhere. The Worm was struggling to turn over, while a continuous stream of Zombie Dogs and Black Monsters relentlessly tore at it. Mucus sprayed everywhere, and what should have been a mountain of Zombie corpses was completely eroded by that Mucus, leaving not even a trace behind.
The massive Zombies swung their fist-like arms, striking the Worm with bone-crushing force, creating deep craters as if they were hitting a rubber ring. The Worm, not to be outdone, had already turned its front half around, its enormous mouth clamping down on the Giant Zombie.
With the help of the spotlight, Wang Chao clearly saw the Worm's teeth, which resembled giant water tanks. The teeth were densely packed like blades, arranged in circles upon circles—more numerous and sharper than those of a great white shark. There were at least ten layers of teeth, making Wang Chao feel as though the Worm's belly was filled with them; each tooth was as thick and long as a human finger.
In an instant, the seven or eight-meter-tall Zombie was bitten in half, its upper body swallowed whole by the Worm. The battle between the Zombies and the Worm escalated into chaos. Wang Chao hesitated to leave for two reasons: first, he genuinely wanted to see who would emerge victorious in this epic showdown; second, there were at least hundreds of thousands of Zombies that had perished here, and this trend was only growing. The amount of Crystal here must be immense! Especially from that green Worm, which contained energy beyond Wang Chao's imagination.
Although the Worm was massive and shielded by Mucus that kept many Zombies at bay, it could not withstand their overwhelming numbers. The Worm likely thought it had found another opportunity to feed but did not realize that this time it faced not tens of thousands but hundreds of thousands of Zombies. This time it was not just about feeding; it was about being hunted.
The sheer number of Zombies instilled fear in the Worm. It twisted its body desperately trying to escape this place, its massive head writhing on the ground as if trying to burrow a hole into it. Suddenly, Wang Chao felt the ground tremble again. He gripped his Panlong Blade tightly to avoid being knocked over by the tremors.
Upon closer inspection, he realized that the Worm was not using its head to push against the ground but rather utilizing its teeth like gears that rotated continuously. Occasionally, it would drill a hole into the earth. The Worm paid no mind and plunged its head downward; in an instant, part of its head had already disappeared underground. However, without its teeth advantage, it would be left vulnerable.
Its head had burrowed in but still left much of its body exposed outside. Drilling took time, and more Zombies surged forward. Wang Chao frowned slightly; he already knew how this battle would end. If the Worm continued fighting fiercely, it might have a chance to win; however, its current choice was leading it straight to doom.
From this perspective, the creature still possessed some basic instinct for self-preservation while these Zombies were entirely devoid of such instincts. It is said that those without fear are the most terrifying; indeed, how can one expect to defeat someone who fears nothing? At this moment, the Worm’s body was ruptured all over, green and blue liquid oozing from within—distinct from the surface Mucus—indicating that this must be the Worm's blood.
Unable to endure such pain any longer, the Worm desperately tried to burrow deeper into the ground. However, being torn apart by Zombies made it impossible for it to dig downwards. In unbearable agony, it pulled its head back up from underground and with its last breath aimed to swallow all these Zombies whole. In a frenzy after losing control, the Worm acted like a vacuum cleaner and gulped down dozens of Zombies in one bite.
Before long, Wang Chao noticed that its belly was swollen with countless Zombie corpses pressing against each other inside. Yet the Worm continued devouring more as if determined to consume every last one before succumbing to its own bloated state. In just a brief moment, thousands of Zombies perished beneath the giant jaws and Mucus of the Worm. However, more Zombies continued to swarm onto it, tearing chunks from its flesh piece by piece.
The Worm writhed in pain, gradually curling its body to protect its belly, exposing its back instead. The Zombies swarmed and began to tear at it. To Wang Chao, it looked like a giant meatball being devoured by countless ants. In no time, the Worm was left in tatters, and with its continuous writhing, a torrent of Mucus sprayed out.
At that moment, Wang Chao felt an overwhelming joy. The Mucus that was shooting out covered many of the Zombies. If he waited just a little longer, those hundreds of thousands of Zombies and the Worm would perish together. When that time came, Wang Chao could step forward and collect all the Crystals into his Spatial Ring. Sure enough, he saw that the Worm had slowly unfurled its body; it was completely dead.
All the Zombies had also been contaminated by the Mucus. The ordinary Zombies had already been corroded into piles of rotten flesh. The remaining Zombies were also tainted by the Mucus and were being slowly eroded; it seemed they wouldn’t last much longer. Meanwhile, the Zombies on the outskirts scattered in different directions, aimless and without command. These Zombies were no match for Wang Chao.
After patiently waiting for about two hours until most of the Zombies had decayed significantly, Wang Chao began to think about how he could reach the other side quickly to collect the Crystals. The greatest threat was not from the remaining Zombies but from the Mucus itself. After some contemplation, Wang Chao decided to activate his Breathing Technique, aiming only to retrieve the Worm's Crystals before making a swift exit; otherwise, if he got contaminated by the Mucus, he wouldn’t even know how he died.
With this thought in mind, Wang Chao acted decisively. He circled around the lake and activated his Breathing Technique, stepping over numerous corpses until he reached the Worm. Drawing his One-Eyed Dragon blade, a Crystal radiating a golden light suddenly appeared before him.
