Wang Chao was struck by the Mastiff King, who now opened its massive jaws and charged forward with lightning speed. Wang Chao raised his blade to strike, but the Mastiff King did not dodge or evade. With its iron-like claws, it attacked with tremendous force. Wang Chao quickly grasped the situation and tried to hold on, but he underestimated the Mastiff King's strength. With a single blow, his hands were shattered, and the Panlong Blade fell to the ground, embedding itself in the earth. 0

The Mastiff King was also knocked back, crashing into the wall of the corridor and spitting blood. Before it even hit the ground, it pushed off the wall with its hind legs and lunged back at Wang Chao. The Panlong Blade had fallen, leaving Wang Chao no time to retrieve it. Instead, he drew his Bone Knives and kicked off the ground with force, sending the Panlong Blade flying toward the Mastiff King. Realizing the ferocity of this attack, the Mastiff King dared not face it head-on. 0

In mid-air, the Mastiff King managed to turn and evade the incoming Panlong Blade. However, just as it dodged, Wang Chao's two Bone Knives came slicing down. The Mastiff King found it difficult to avoid them and was struck on both shoulders. Yet, its bones were incredibly tough; Wang Chao's knives could not cut deeper to sever its head. At that moment, the Mastiff King disregarded everything and swung its iron claws down. 0

The speed of this attack was astonishing; Wang Chao barely had time to raise his hands as a shield. The claws landed directly on his arm, and given the Mastiff King's power, one would expect his arm to be crushed into pulp. However, both Wang Chao and the Mastiff King were taken aback when only five bloody marks were left on Wang Chao's arm. 0

Though flesh was torn and blood flowed freely, there was no damage to his bones or tendons. Suddenly, Wang Chao recalled what Gao Rui had said about how his cells had been enhanced. It seemed that was indeed true. Before he could ponder further, he noticed a change in the Mastiff King; its eyes began to shift colors rapidly like a rainbow, moving faster and faster. 0

Seeing this, Wang Chao refused to give it a moment's respite. At that moment, Little Wolf also lunged forward. The two shared a glance that conveyed their intentions without words. They charged at the Mastiff King together; however, as they approached it, Wang Chao felt as if he had stepped into a powerful aura that drained him of energy with every step. 0

"What is happening?" Wang Chao wondered inwardly. 0

Meanwhile, Gao Rui in the laboratory witnessed this scene and was horrified. He muttered to himself, "What? How can the Mastiff King do this? Can genes really alter the surrounding aura? I remember some pioneering scientists proposed this idea... But where are my documents?" He stopped looking at the screen and began rifling through a stack of papers. 0

Wang Chao remained unaware of his surroundings as he saw that the Mastiff King's pupils finally stabilized into a rainbow-like appearance. While he could still move, Little Wolf seemed rooted to the ground, unable to budge an inch. Was this legendary aura of dominance manifesting in a dog? Just then, the Mastiff King returned to normal and charged straight at Wang Chao. 0

This time, Wang Chao did not dare hesitate; he activated his Breathing Technique. The Mastiff King's speed was so great that Wang Chao could barely discern its movements. Before he could react, the Mastiff King opened its gaping maw and lunged for his neck. Wang Chao barely managed to raise his hand as a shield, but the Mastiff King's strike shattered his defense. 0

Its teeth sank into Wang Chao's neck, blood spraying everywhere. He felt his life force draining away rapidly; there was no time for thought as his hands transformed into Bone Knives and stabbed toward the Mastiff King's head. The creature did not flinch or release its grip on Wang Chao's neck; instead, it held on tightly even as Wang Chao's knives pierced deep into its skull. 0

In that moment of struggle between man and beast, neither would relent; their blood mingled together in a gruesome display. Wang Chao's consciousness began to fade as he realized he might die here after all. Damn it! He never expected to meet his end in such a place or wonder what kind of creature this Mastiff King truly was... 0

At this moment, the Mastiff King was already fading in and out of consciousness, on the brink of death, yet it still refused to release its grip on Wang Chao. The man and the mastiff lay sprawled on the ground, motionless, as if they had lost all vitality. 0

Three hours later. 0

“There’s a hole here, clearly man-made. Wang Chao is likely inside,” Shen Zhitao said. “With Little Wolf’s speed, he could reach here in a day at most. Wang Chao has been gone for five days now, and Dean Wang mentioned that he might be in this location. Look at this hole!” Tang Feng and Da Qiang approached to inspect it and indeed found a large opening in the otherwise sealed wall. 0

On the ground lay some dried and decaying corpses, which did not resemble zombies. 0

Tang Feng remarked, “It’s likely that Wang Chao fought here; these bodies don’t look like zombies.” 0

“Shouldn’t we hurry in to take a look?” With that, Da Qiang stepped forward into the hole. After surveying the area for a moment, he found no clues. Shen Zhitao and Tang Feng followed him inside. Shen Zhitao scanned the surroundings but saw nothing unusual until he wandered into a bedroom. Suddenly, he noticed some bloodstains on the bed. 0

Thinking of this, Shen Zhitao looked at the ordinary bed; the sheets were disheveled and sunken in the middle as if something had been lying there. He waved his hand to pull back the sheets and discovered a crack in the bed frame. 0

“Tang Feng, Da Qiang, come here!” Shen Zhitao called out. “There’s a passageway.” 0

Hearing his voice, Tang Feng and Da Qiang hurried over, but it seemed that some mechanism was blocking the bed. The three of them pushed together until they finally opened a narrow tunnel just wide enough for one person to pass through. They jumped down one after another and found themselves surrounded by more corpses in the passageway. Shen Zhitao frowned slightly and said, “If these were killed by Wang Chao, then he must be in danger. We need to hurry!” 0

With that, they all moved deeper into the tunnel. 0

“Over here!” Da Qiang called from one side of the passageway. “There’s a glass corridor; it seems to be open! Look!” Concerned for Wang Chao's safety, they didn’t hesitate and rushed inside. The sight before them left them stunned: a tall cylindrical container filled with deep green liquid stood before them, with various instruments attached to it. Inside floated both a person and a mastiff. 0

The man's head appeared to be nearly severed from his neck, a gruesome sight indeed. 0

It was Wang Chao. 0
