Having made all the necessary arrangements, the group discussed their plan. Huangfu Yan had sent five subordinates: two at the Platinum lower level, two at the Golden Intermediate level, and one at the Golden lower level. The leader was referred to as Second Brother, while another was codenamed Viper. Zhuang Peng did not catch the names of the others.
According to Zhuang Peng, they had encountered this group before but were unaware of their origins and had kept a safe distance. They overheard some details, but after the group finished eating, they suddenly attacked Zhuang Peng's team and kidnapped Shui Yun'er. Zhuang Peng rushed to intervene but was no match for them, resulting in several brothers being lost in the fight, including Da Qiang.
Zhuang Peng managed to escape with the remaining members.
Among the five attackers, two were armed with guns, one wielded a sword, while Viper was unarmed. The leader, Second Brother, carried a Long Halberd. Wang Chao nodded and noted that both he and Zhuang Peng were at the Platinum level, Tang Feng was at the Golden Upper level, while Da Qiang and Shen Zhiying were at the Golden Intermediate level. Shen Zhitao was at the Golden Lower level. Including Little Wolf and Little Grudge, their team seemed slightly stronger than their opponents.
Wang Chao stated, "We need to take the initiative; being passive will always leave us vulnerable. To put it simply, their main objective is to find me. Based on Zhuang Peng's directions, if we head east for a few miles, we should reach their active area. We already have an advantage in this operation. I propose that I team up with Little Wolf and Shen Zhitao—this is a beauty strategy you all understand... "Is that clear?" Wang Chao asked.
"Clear!" everyone replied.
Wang Chao nodded and looked at them before continuing, "Good, that's how things stand. Zhuang Peng, if you encounter that group again, you and Shen Zhiying should shoot arrows and fire guns targeting the Platinum level individual other than Second Brother!"
"Are our targets the same?" Zhuang Peng asked.
"Exactly!" Wang Chao replied firmly. "Our target is one person; anyone who reaches Platinum level must possess exceptional skills. If we can't take him down with one strike, we’ll have a second chance. One of you will use a bow while the other uses a sniper rifle; arrows and bullets will come almost simultaneously, ensuring he bleeds out on the spot. At that moment, their side will undoubtedly fall into temporary chaos."
Wang Chao paused before continuing, "We have been planning for this moment all along. Little Grudge, you must immediately take Shui Yun'er away! I will engage Second Brother right away; as for the rest of you, handle everything else." He pointed to Shen Zhitao, Da Qiang, and Tang Feng while Little Wolf lay on the ground nodding his head as if he understood Wang Chao's words.
"You two, stay back and attack when the situation calls for it!" Wang Chao said to Zhuang Peng and Shen Zhiying. "This way, we can take advantage of our numbers. However, until we engage, no one knows what might happen. We must be cautious. If things go awry, the best plan is to retreat!" After saying this, Wang Chao fell silent and glanced at Zhuang Peng.
He continued, "Logically, waiting in the Safe Zone is the best strategy. This way, we have the advantage of time, place, and people. But to prevent Shui Yun'er from being insulted by that Second Brother, we must act immediately and find them as soon as possible. I want to be honest with you; in my eyes, your lives are far more valuable than even the top figure Lao Zhao's, let alone Shui Yun'er."
Wang Chao spoke sincerely, "I just hope that all of you can return safely."
His words came from the heart. Everyone nodded heavily, except for Zhuang Peng, who neither nodded nor spoke. In his heart, Zhuang Peng agreed with Wang Chao's words and understood that this time Wang Chao was giving him face. Little Grudge pushed aside her thoughts and refused to let herself dwell on them any longer. However, since Wang Chao had caused her to end up like this, she could not simply forgive him; perhaps she could hold off on killing him for now...
Wang Chao called Xiao Wei over and entrusted him with matters concerning the Safe Zone. Recently, Xiao Wei had stopped bothering Sun Physicist and instead seemed to be preoccupied with Gao Rui, that Biochemist, spending all day in the lab without a clue what he was working on. The specifics were still being handled by Wu Wan'er and Yang Mengying. He also reminded Liu Jie a few times to pay attention to the defenses of the Safe Zone.
The group set off; by the time they returned from Coastal, it was already past nine in the evening. After discussing their plans with everyone, it was well past ten o'clock. They hadn’t even had time to eat before rushing out again. The roar of their vehicle would carry far away, so they had no choice but to proceed on foot according to their plan, with Wang Chao and Shen Zhitao leading the way.
Little Grudge transformed into a mass of black mist, obscured and indistinct.
To save trouble, Wang Chao sat directly behind Shen Zhitao on Little Wolf's back. This made him reminisce about ancient tales of talented scholars riding together with beautiful maidens; however, their Little Wolf was far more impressive than any steed from those stories.
The group traveled westward through the night until dawn broke. It was now just past four in the morning; summer days always arrived early. Although they could still see a few twinkling stars overhead, the sky was already beginning to lighten.
