"I suspect that this place is likely the logistics unit of Huangfu Yan's army. The large trucks behind us are probably loaded with supplies like food. Troops may not have moved yet, but provisions are already on the way. No wonder Wang Xiaochuan said he made a significant discovery. They were on a national highway just outside Ganzhou District. The first squad was attacking from the front of the road, while the last three teams had circled around the buildings to launch a side attack. As for Wang Chao and his group, they had climbed up the mountain on the left side of the highway, eliminated the lookout, and circled to the rear of the entire unit. The gunfire ahead was still ongoing but seemed to be fading; it appeared that Squad Six had drawn away quite a few enemies.
The group lay flat and slid down the mountain, firing as they moved. By the time they reached the bottom, all the Ganzhou Soldiers behind them had been taken out with headshots. Wang Chao signaled for them to advance, and they provided cover for each other as they quickly moved forward. All the Ganzhou Soldiers along their path were eliminated with headshots; it seemed that although there were many soldiers here, they were not elite.
Huangfu Yan, that old fox, would never have imagined that such a covert operation with so many troops indicated that this unit had begun moving at least a month ago. Wang Chao had been dispatched only a week earlier, meaning that from the moment Huangfu Yan learned of Zhang Lao's death, this unit had already been in motion. If it weren't for Wang Xiaochuan accidentally discovering this information, Huangfu Yan could have launched a lightning strike within a week!
"Search everywhere for Wang Xiaochuan's whereabouts; I'm going to check over there!" As he spoke, Wang Chao headed toward the trucks hidden behind the buildings.
The situation behind and in front felt like two separate units. This was evident as Wang Chao observed from his concealed position; the soldiers guarding the trucks appeared alert and well-equipped compared to those in front. These men stood still around the trucks in formation. Given the number of trucks and their level of vigilance, it was clear they were guarding supplies!
However, at that moment, Wang Chao dared not act recklessly. He still didn't know what was happening with Wang Xiaochuan. If he acted impulsively now, he could easily find himself surrounded by enemies on both sides. Not only would he fail to destroy these supplies, but he might also lose his brothers here. Just as he suppressed his urge to act, he heard shouting from ahead:
"Enemies are coming from behind! Watch the supplies! Don't pursue them; we've been tricked again! You squads stay here to prevent them from returning; everyone else, follow me to check out back!"
At that moment, Wang Chao caught sight of movement among the troops by the trucks!
"Captain, we found Wang Xiaochuan!" Wang Chao turned to see a teammate carrying a bloodied Wang Xiaochuan on his back while other teammates fired their weapons as they retreated. However, more Ganzhou Soldiers were converging on their position—now they truly found themselves caught between enemies!
Wang Xiaochuan's face was pale; upon seeing Wang Chao, his first words were: "Captain, I've put you all in danger!"
Wang Chao took over carrying Wang Xiaochuan on his back and tightly wrapped him with bandages before saying, "What do you mean putting us in danger? I should thank you for finding Huangfu Yan's supply unit! I told you before: I will never abandon a teammate! Brothers, let's charge out from behind! Kill!"
"Kill!" The voice rang out high and clear.
A man does not shed tears lightly, but he had not yet reached the point of heartbreak. Wang Xiaochuan had already resigned himself to death, yet he could hardly believe that Wang Chao had truly returned with so many brothers just for him. Wang Xiaochuan felt no sorrow, yet tears flowed uncontrollably; his weak body seemed to be filled with strength once more.
Flames licked out before them, blocking everyone's path.
"Find cover!" Wang Chao shouted urgently.
The group had no choice but to hide, but the surrounding troops continued to converge toward the center. The seven of them stood no chance against this thousand-strong army. Wang Chao could indeed escape over the mountains with Wang Xiaochuan, but what about the other six? He had said he would not abandon any one of them, and he meant it!
Suddenly, something was thrown their way. Wang Chao reacted swiftly, slicing a grenade into several pieces that fell away into the distance. The situation was becoming increasingly dire; it wouldn't be long before none of them would escape alive! Realizing this, Wang Chao said, "You all stay here. I'll charge out to buy some time; you look for an opportunity to escape!"
However, his words were met with unanimous opposition. One person spoke up, "No way, Captain! We'll charge out to cover you and Wang Xiaochuan; you two get out of here! If I can meet two such captains in my life, I’ll feel like my time in the army wasn’t wasted. Being part of Thunder Strike Team is the proudest and most honorable thing for me."
"That's right, Captain!" another added. "I've never bowed down to anyone in my life—Captain Lei is one, and you are another! You still have to lead the rest of us to do more great things! Thunder Strike Team can manage without us, but it cannot do without you!"
Hearing this, Wang Chao understood that these men were resolute. Yet he refused to give them any chance to rush out; instead, he carried Wang Xiaochuan and charged forward himself, leaving behind a command: "You stay here and take the chance to escape; this is my order!" But they did not heed Wang Chao's command. One person replied, "You said it yourself: Thunder Strike Team will not abandon any one of us. We will remember those words for a lifetime, and now is no different!"
As they spoke, the others did not hesitate at all and rushed out one by one. Seeing this, Wang Chao's eyes reddened; tears welled in his lashes as he simply shouted, "Kill!"
But among the others, who was as fierce as Wang Chao? A barrage of gunfire erupted; many were injured, yet everyone seemed to believe they were made of steel as they recklessly charged forward. Occasionally, someone would fall—only to never rise again! At this moment, Wang Chao was also consumed by rage; he surged ahead with one hand forming a shield and the other gripping a knife.
The shield protected his comrades while the knife struck down their enemies!
Meanwhile.
"Where is Captain Wang?" one member of the Nine Squad, who had already evacuated, asked. "Why haven't they come out yet?"
"From the sound of the gunfire, they must be trapped in the center of the camp!" another replied.
"We can't leave anyone behind; that's what Captain Wang taught me. Let's go, brothers, and charge back in!"
