Although the monsters had been eliminated, the area was still littered with collapsed buildings and various stones washed ashore by the tsunami. The salt fields in the Coastal Safety Zone were essentially destroyed, and it would take more than a day or two to resume production. The immediate priority was to relocate the residents and clear the roads to restore basic production at the salt fields. 0

Unbeknownst to him, Wang Chao had already taken control of several large Safe Zones. Ganzhou was agriculturally prosperous, producing enough food for a million people each year. With this, Ganzhou alone could nearly satisfy the food supply needs of four large Safe Zones, along with several smaller ones in between. Jing City, rich in mineral resources, had coal and iron mines within its Safe Zone, which were crucial resources in this post-apocalyptic world. Coal was used for power generation and heating, while iron was essential for crafting weapons and equipment. 0

Furthermore, Coastal produced the most important resource: salt. Without it, people would become weak and swollen within a week. In ancient times, the production and sale of salt and iron were state-controlled, indicating that once Wang Chao grasped these key resources, he effectively held power over the north. Most importantly, the imperial capital had suffered minimal losses during the zombie crisis due to its status as a military and political stronghold. 0

In other words, this place had a complete industrial system and advanced scientific research capabilities. If conditions allowed, tanks and planes could eventually be rebuilt; however, what was most lacking now were skilled personnel and researchers. During the zombie crisis, about seventy percent of the population had turned into zombies, which was indeed a terrifying blow. 0

Sighing, Wang Chao realized that rebuilding after the apocalypse would be a long journey ahead. Pang Shuisheng stood before him as Wang Chao instructed, "Divide the Coastal Soldiers into three teams: one team will clear the roads in Coastal starting from this square; another will assess the damage to buildings; and the last will expedite the construction of concrete walls. Although most zombies have been cleared out here, there are still many lurking where we can't see them." 0

"Get this done!" Wang Chao commanded. 0

"Understood!" Pang Shuisheng nodded and began assigning tasks. 0

"Wang Feng!" Wang Chao called out to the Convoy Captain beside him. "Bring in the coal trucks." 0

"Got it," Wang Feng replied. 0

In no time, everyone was busy at work. Residents returned home to check on their supplies; however, many found their homes destroyed. Although Wang Chao hadn't personally experienced the tsunami, he could still see from the aftermath just how powerful it had been. It took two full hours for them to clear the roads, and by then, the coal trucks had arrived. 0

The trucks stopped beside Wang Chao. He nodded at Wang Feng in one of the vehicles and said, "You're familiar with this area. Unload the coal first, then take some salt back with you. But make sure to hurry back after loading up with food; most of the farmland here has been devastated, and winter is approaching. It will be difficult without food for survival. Oh, and bring Shui Yun'er over as well." 0

"Understood, Commander." With that, Wang Feng led his convoy away. 0

Having arranged numerous matters, Wang Chao finally let out a sigh of relief. However, this situation could not be resolved in a short time. Three days later, Wang Feng's convoy brought in food, which was distributed in the square to ensure everyone could survive the winter. The rest of the tasks were handled in accordance with previous habits and methods. 0

The reconstruction of the salt fields was also in full swing. After a tsunami had devastated the Safe Zone, the enthusiasm of the current residents suggested that after this winter, the Coastal Safety Zone would once again thrive as a vibrant Safe Zone. Wang Chao found these trivial matters somewhat bothersome, but fortunately, Zhuang Peng was by his side, so he entrusted these tasks to Zhuang Peng. 0

To be honest, Lin Chuan and Zhao Qin had both been killed by Wang Chao, leaving no one else to take on such responsibilities in the Coastal Safety Zone. 0

“Zhuang Peng, from now on, the Coastal Safety Zone is in your hands. If anything comes up, just send someone to notify me. You know I’ve always been lazy and can’t handle such detailed matters,” Wang Chao said to Zhuang Peng. This statement was true; looking at the several Safe Zones under Wang Chao's control, Ganzhou was managed by Tang Feng and Shi Huacheng, while the Imperial Capital was overseen by Shen Zhiying and Wu Wan'er. Now, Coastal was entrusted to Zhuang Peng and Shui Yun'er. 0

As for Jing City, it had always been managed by Xiao Wei and Big Strong Liu Jie. Wang Chao’s hands-off approach was quite carefree. However, it was undeniable that without Wang Chao as a leader connecting so many people, they would not have gathered together. This echoed the ancient general Han Xin's insights on military talent and leadership. 0

“Well then, I’ll head back to Jing City now,” Wang Chao waved goodbye to Zhuang Peng and left with his hundred-member guard convoy. 0

Watching the scenery flash by outside the window, Wang Chao couldn’t help but reflect on how many people had gathered around him since he left his small town. Enemies had also increased over time, but now those around him were gradually dispersing, while correspondingly, his enemies had all perished. Suddenly, Wang Chao felt a sense of disconnection and indescribable melancholy wash over him, as if he were lost in a dream. 0

Zhuang Peng and Shui Yun'er stood still as they watched the convoy disappear into the distance. 0

Zhuang Peng said, “Do you remember that weak Wang Chao who couldn’t even protect a bag of food? Back then, he wasn’t even your match. Yet in just a few years, he has grown to a height that even I find hard to reach. After all these years of rivalry between us, I’ve ended up as one of his subordinates. What if I had shot that arrow back then? How different would things be now?” 0

Shui Yun'er gently linked her arm with Zhuang Peng’s and replied, “Yes, his growth has been astonishingly fast. Sometimes I find myself wondering if the Wang Chao we met four years ago is really the same person standing before us now? Not only Wang Chao but look at those under him; each one is capable of ruling their own territory yet chooses to follow him faithfully.” 0

“Exactly,” Zhuang Peng said. “I may not know what makes those people willingly work under him, but I understand that if I had killed Wang Chao back then, I wouldn’t be able to see you now. It truly is a cycle of cause and effect; there must be some divine intention behind it!” 0

Shui Yun'er blushed and leaned against Zhuang Peng’s chest before saying, “We still have a lot of work to do.” 0

"Yes." 0
