As they continued forward, they reached the end of the path, where a massive cylindrical building loomed above them, stacked layer upon layer. It seemed that several roads converged here. At the base of the circular structure were several oval-shaped entrances. Entering through one of the doors, Wang Chao realized that this was a Boxing Arena. The arena was surrounded by a huge iron cage, and inside, fighters were already engaged in combat, though it was hard to see clearly from the entrance.
There was no ticket booth at the entrance. Yuan Min remarked, "People come here not just to watch bloody boxing matches but primarily to gamble. They only accept gold. There are three levels here; the first and second floors are for small bets, usually with gold tokens or something similar. The third floor is reserved for wealthy patrons, where the minimum bet is a gold brick. It's truly a money-burning affair!"
Wang Chao nodded and followed Yuan Min to the second floor, where they casually found two seats and watched the match unfold. The fighters were both Silver Upper Tier competitors, but one of them was clearly not Huaxia; he resembled a Western man. Both fighters had stripped off their shirts, revealing well-defined muscles on the Western man, while the Huaxia fighter appeared relatively frail.
At that moment, four betting stations were packed with crowds, and cheers and shouts filled the air. This was human nature at its finest; Wang Chao had not expected so many people to be addicted to gambling. Seeing their fervor, he could only shake his head in resignation. Suddenly, cheers erupted as he turned his gaze back to the arena; the two fighters had already locked into a fierce struggle.
Although both fighters were at a silver level, their skills seemed more like an accumulation of raw power rather than any formal training in martial arts. Their fight resembled childhood street brawls—hair pulling and ear biting were all fair game. Wang Chao commented, "These guys don't seem to know any martial arts; this duel looks more like a street fight!"
Yuan Min glanced at Wang Chao and nodded before saying, "I've heard from others that fights between skilled martial artists aren't very entertaining. Even if they exchange blows evenly, it often ends with one lethal strike. But those who lack martial skills make for much more exciting matches; it brings out their primal instincts. I've also heard that these fights are to the death—unless one person dies, they won't stop."
"However, that's just what I've heard; I'm not entirely sure if it's true," Yuan Min added.
Wang Chao nodded and looked down again. By this time, both fighters had fallen to the ground. The Huaxia fighter had bitten down on the Western man's nose and refused to let go while the Western man pounded his fists into the Huaxia fighter's abdomen. Before long, both were bleeding—the Huaxia fighter's stomach was battered and injured internally while the Western man's nose was crushed, blood streaming down his face.
Wang Chao couldn't help but furrow his brow as Yuan Min covered his mouth, looking as if he might vomit at any moment. What Yuan Min had said earlier rang true; battles between experts often ended with a single fatal blow unless both sides became completely consumed by rage and lost their reason. Clearly, these untrained fighters provided more "entertainment" than those skilled in martial arts.
The crowd around them seemed thrilled by this spectacle, cheering loudly as they contrasted sharply with the calm demeanor of those on stage. Wang Chao couldn't tell if these two men were driven by sheer terror or had become numb to their pain; watching them made him wince as neither uttered a sound—they were fighting for their lives.
To put it bluntly, it was said that barking dogs don’t bite. At this moment, these two fighters embodied that sentiment; both were red-eyed and focused solely on each other without any energy left to acknowledge their pain. Suddenly, they moved simultaneously and collided with each other before crashing to the ground. At that moment, the Huaxia fighter clearly gained an advantage due to his smaller size and quicker reflexes.
He managed to pin himself over the Western man's lower body, causing gasps from the audience as everyone felt a chill run down their spines. Finally, the Western man screamed in agony and rolled on the ground in pain while the Huaxia fighter seized the opportunity and bit down hard on his neck, causing a torrent of blood to flow freely.
At that moment, the Western Man was injured all over, filled with terror and completely lost his will to fight. He turned around, using his arms as legs, trying to escape from the Huaxia Person. However, the Huaxia Person had bitten into his neck and would not let go, no matter how much the Western Man struggled and twisted. With each cry of anguish from the Western Man, the amount of blood flowing from him increased.
Finally, the Western Man's voice fell silent. He lay motionless on the ground, with only the wound on his neck still bleeding profusely, showing just how fierce and deep the Huaxia Person's bite had been. At that moment, the audience was a mix of curses and praises, creating a cacophony of voices. The Huaxia Person slumped to the ground, staring blankly at the top of the cage, lost in thought.
At this time, the cage door opened, and several members of the Black Clothes Society entered. One person dragged the corpse while two others half-dragged the Huaxia Person out of the cage. Only the bloodstains in the Arena remained, telling everyone that a life-and-death battle had taken place here. The other contestants had not yet taken the stage, giving the audience a brief moment to either collect their winnings or complain.
Wang Chao patted Yuan Min on the shoulder and said, "Let's check out the third floor. The people up there are either rich or powerful. I think we might find something unexpected; perhaps we could even see the leader of the Black Clothes Society."
Yuan Min nodded and replied, "Sure, I've only been here once before and have never been to the third floor. I imagine there are quite a few members of the Seven Great Families up there; maybe even someone from the Zhang Family."
"Someone from the Zhang Family?" Wang Chao raised his hand to look at an ancient ring from the Zhang Family he wore, which emitted a faint white light. He couldn't tell what material it was made from but guessed it was likely some kind of meteorite: "Interesting. It would be best if the leader of the Black Clothes Society is there too. We need to delay their progress before Shen Zhitao returns."
As they spoke, another match began, this time featuring competitors at the Golden Lower Level. However, Wang Chao paid no attention to it and led Yuan Min straight upstairs. At the third step of the staircase stood a guard. Just as Wang Chao and Yuan Min were about to ascend, he blocked their path: "Please show your Black Card!"
