Wang Chao shook his head, unable to believe he would encounter Liu He here. The Liu He he had met before was someone who could help others while ensuring his own safety, but now, Liu He was completely consumed by his own desires, having become a petty person. Wang Chao recalled that night on the rooftop when he had spoken with Six Harmonies, back when many women were under Liu He's protection.
Life is full of uncertainties. The saying Liu He once mentioned about two tigers not being able to coexist now made Wang Chao wonder if this tiger was still a tiger. The current Liu He resembled a greedy and selfish fox. "Liu He," Wang Chao said, "we can consider ourselves old friends. To be honest, you cannot be my opponent. Hand over control of the Anfei Safe Zone, and I can spare your life."
Liu He looked at Wang Chao, then glanced at the surrounding Guards. His eyes darted around as he opened his mouth in disbelief, as if he had just heard the most incredible news. After a long pause, he replied, "Your strength has indeed reached Platinum Level. Although I don't know why your eyes haven't changed accordingly, who do you think you are?"
As he spoke, Liu He glared fiercely, cracking his knuckles with a crisp sound before continuing, "I thought you were just another person from a small town, so I asked you nicely. I never expected you to refuse my kindness. This Anfei Safe Zone belongs to me; even a single spit from everyone here could drown you!"
"I never imagined you would become such a person!" Wang Chao replied. "Perhaps death is the best relief for you."
"Death?" Liu He retorted. "I want to see who will die first. Guards, attack!"
With that command, the surrounding Guards charged forward with their weapons drawn. The three immediately launched their assault, and Liu He joined in as well. Things had escalated quickly; Wang Chao could hardly believe that the leader of this Safe Zone was an old acquaintance of his. With Liu He's involvement in the battle, the disadvantage of the three became apparent; they could only be considered two against one.
Aikun'er was like Yang Mengying, Yiyi, and Xiao Wei; although she possessed a large amount of Crystal and had forcibly raised her strength to a high level, she lacked any real combat experience. It was akin to a frail martial artist defeating a muscular giant due to skill rather than brute strength. If it were just Wang Chao and Yuan Min, whether in a prolonged battle or in retreating, it would have been quite simple.
However, with Aikun'er added to the mix, things became complicated. Most importantly, they couldn't afford to harm her in any way. But why was Wang Chao doing this? That had already been explained before; now was the time to see how effective Wang Chao's plan would be.
The attackers were unaware of Aikun'er's true identity and thus showed no mercy in their assault. The two had to fend off their enemies while also protecting Aikun'er, quickly finding themselves stretched thin. At that moment, however, a faint smile appeared at the corner of Wang Chao's mouth—fleeting and unnoticed by anyone else—as he shouted, "If you don't come out soon, I won't be able to protect this lady!"
As soon as Wang Chao's words fell, over a dozen members of the Black Clothes Society suddenly surged from outside the door and joined the fray. These members were formidable; they were either at the lower tier of Platinum or on the verge of breaking through to that level. The Guards stood no chance against these Black Clothes Society members; Wang Chao had already noticed that their strength clearly surpassed that of both Safe Zones.
With the addition of these dozen fighters, the Guards quickly found themselves at a disadvantage. Wang Chao felt a surge of joy; his plan had indeed succeeded. Earlier, he had learned that there was more than one route leading to the underground black market. Since those Black Clothes Society members hadn’t pursued him from behind, they must have emerged from another passageway; otherwise, given Aivina's protective nature towards Aikun'er, it would have been impossible for her not to send someone to keep watch over her.
On the road, Wang Chao felt a gaze fixed on him from a distance. After some contemplation, he concluded that it could only be the eyes of a member of the Black Clothes Society, and indeed, it turned out to be true.
"Wang Chao, whose subordinate are you? Why is the Black-Clad Society with the people from the Zhonghu Safety Zone?" Liu He exclaimed, cold sweat pouring down his face. "This is impossible! The Black Clothes Society just fought with the Zhonghu Safety Zone; given their nature, they wouldn't just let it end like this!" Confusion and fear mingled in his voice.
As a frequent visitor to the black market, Liu He had seen the power of the Black Clothes Society many times, especially that of the Black Clothes Society Leader, whose strength was unfathomable. Even three Liu Hes would not stand a chance against him!
"What’s going on? Why is the Black-Clad Society here? What should we do?" One of the Guards trembled as he gripped his knife, repeatedly muttering this question. "Chief, what do we do? Offending the Black-Clad Society means death! The last leader of our Safe Zone was killed by the Black Clothes Society Leader!" another guard captain added.
"I don’t want to die! I don’t want to go against the Black-Clad Society!" In the midst of their conversation, one person had already thrown his knife to the ground, and soon more followed suit, discarding their weapons and retreating. At that moment, Liu He finally understood why Wang Chao had so confidently declared that he could no longer hold his position.
However, Liu He also realized that they had already offended the Black-Clad Society. Even if they surrendered now, it would still lead to death. The only way out was to eliminate everyone from the Black-Clad Society here, including Wang Chao and his group. Only then could they prevent any information from reaching them and perhaps survive. With this thought in mind, Liu He gritted his teeth and resolutely declared, "Guards! We have already offended the Black-Clad Society; even if you put down your knives, it's still a dead end!"
"Brothers, pick up your knives! If we kill all these people, the Black-Clad Society won't get any news; they won't come after us!" Liu He shouted. "Think about it: if you put down your knives now, aren’t you just waiting to be slaughtered? Have you forgotten the lessons from before? You’ve already become enemies of the Black Clothes Society!"
"Exactly! Putting down our knives means death; picking them up also means death. As long as we can kill everyone here, we can survive!" another person shouted as well. At this moment, more people understood the stakes involved and began picking up their knives from the ground, charging forward. With no way out, they knew that if they didn’t fight for their lives now, they would lose them for sure.
"Kill!"
