As Ouyang En spoke, he began to unfasten his clothing. The crowd looked on, revealing the scars that marred his body—whip marks from lashes, cuts from blades, and burns from a branding iron. His flesh was a tapestry of injuries, with old wounds healed but scarred, and new ones still fresh, overlapping and distorting one another in a horrifying display.
Wang Chao slammed his fist into the wall beside him, cracking it with a single blow. "Don't worry," he said, "I'll make sure you get to kill Liu He yourself!"
Ouyang En nodded and put his clothes back on. "Brother Wang," he continued, "there was chaos at the Anfei Safe Zone just now. Our people took the opportunity to rescue me. When I got out, I noticed you were with the leader of the Zhonghu Safety Zone." He gestured toward Yuan Min and added, "And the Black-Clad Society also joined the fight. It's quite strange; all three major forces are involved except for Yangnan Safe Zone!"
Wang Chao replied, "Yuan Min is my subordinate. The Zhonghu Safety Zone is essentially my Base Camp in the south. Although I haven't fully taken control yet, it's only a matter of time. As for the Anfei Safe Zone, it will eventually fall into my hands as well. The situation with the Black Clothes Society is more complicated; that's not something that can be resolved quickly..."
Ouyang En nodded, feeling a sense of admiration for Brother Wang. In just six months in the north, he had gathered so many capable allies around him. Now that he had arrived in the south, he had already gained control over a Safe Zone—something not easily accomplished by an ordinary person. His previous choice to ally with Wang Chao was clearly the right one; without him, Ouyang En would have died four years ago.
"Brother Wang," he said, "come with me to a place where I keep my secret. I wasn't the only one who escaped; several of my brothers should be waiting there." Wang Chao nodded; a secret that Liu He coveted must be something significant.
Ouyang En was at the Platinum level as well, so their speed was commendable. They headed eastward, taking a detour behind the Anfei Safe Zone. Nearby was a range of mountains, and Ouyang En led them up into the hills. The terrain was rugged and uneven, winding their way through lush greenery that still thrived despite it being early winter.
After what felt like an eternity of walking, they arrived at a cave. Ouyang En turned to Wang Chao and said, "This is the place!" He then let out a loud whistle. Moments later, three Golden Level individuals emerged from the cave, dressed in green—clearly guards from the Anfei Safe Zone. Ouyang En introduced them to Wang Chao: "These three are my trusted confidants who escaped with me."
"This is Brother Wang," Ouyang En continued. "He has been with me since my time in the north. With him by our side, we will eventually overthrow Liu He and seize control of the Anfei Safe Zone!" The three confidants showed no doubt; they had followed Ouyang En for a long time.
"Brother Wang!" they exclaimed in unison before one added, "Brother Wang, Captain, there are significantly fewer resources inside!"
Ouyang En asked, "Fewer? What do you mean?"
The man replied, "Yes, there are definitely fewer—around ten thousand less! But it doesn't seem like it was taken by people. If it were humans taking that much Crystal, they wouldn't leave any behind; they'd absorb it all instead! But that's not what happened here. You should come in and take a look!"
Ouyang En nodded and turned to Wang Chao and the others. "Brother Wang, come inside! There are countless Crystals hidden here!"
Wang Chao nodded, and a few people followed Ouyang En into the cave. Although there was light outside the cave, the deeper they went, the darker it became. Wang Chao noticed that there were many forks in the path, and he couldn't tell if they were interconnected or dead ends. The light continued to diminish until the cave was pitch black. However, when they turned down one of the forks, the cave suddenly brightened.
It was as if millions of cold lights had been lit. After taking a few more steps, everyone was stunned by the sight before them. A massive amount of Crystals was piled up inside the cave, seemingly numbering in the tens of thousands. If all of these were used on a single person, even someone at a Silver level could be elevated to a Diamond level. If Wang Chao absorbed all these Crystals, he would surely reach an extraordinary level.
However, Wang Chao wasn't thinking about his own power increase. With his Diamond lower-level status combined with the Breathing Technique, he hadn't yet encountered anyone who could match him in strength aside from Zhang Fusheng and Aivina. He had never seen anyone stronger than himself. Therefore, for Wang Chao, these Crystals were not particularly useful for him. But if he used them to strengthen those around him, he could easily create a Platinum Team of thirty people!
After all, although Aivina spoke with conviction about the so-called Zhang Family's mysterious forces, Wang Chao had never seen such a team; it would be better to create one himself.
"I say, Ouyang En, how come there are so many Crystals here?" Wang Chao picked up a Golden Crystal, admiring its glow as he asked, "Did you collect them?"
Ouyang En shook his head and replied, "We didn't collect them; we stumbled upon this place while escaping from a Zombie Horde. We happened to be on the mountain during an earthquake that caused large rocks to fall and crush many Zombies beneath them, forming this cave. When we arrived here, we found numerous Zombie corpses along with all these Crystals!"
"That's quite a stroke of luck!" Wang Chao exclaimed. "It's almost like something out of a story!"
"The day we discovered this place was also the day Liu He transformed," Ouyang En said. "So we never told him about this location! After that, we were imprisoned and have no idea whether it was a blessing or a curse. Moreover, many of these Crystals are missing; when we first came here, they were nearly piled up to the previous corner, but now it seems like half of them are gone!"
"Half gone?" Wang Chao asked.
Ouyang En nodded and said, "We remember clearly that even though we haven't been here for over six months, Crystals don't just disappear without reason. If someone absorbed them, they wouldn't just take some and leave the rest behind!"
