Wang Chao listened, puzzled. Could it really have turned to dust? That seemed impossible; even a brick would remain intact after six months, let alone this Crystal. With that thought, Wang Chao crushed the Golden Crystal in his hand, and the golden light flowed up his arm and into his body, a warm current spreading throughout him.
“Ouyang En, these Crystals were all found by you. How about this: you four absorb them first and elevate your strength to Platinum Tier level,” Wang Chao said, stroking his cheek. “As for the remaining Crystals, I will distribute them. How does that sound?”
To be honest, Wang Chao felt this was quite fair. Reaching Platinum Tier in this world meant one could walk with confidence. However, since these Crystals were discovered by others, even if they absorbed them, Wang Chao couldn’t complain too much. If they weren’t familiar with each other, he might have resorted to coercion, but since they were all on the same side, it was better to negotiate amicably.
“Brother Wang, I’ll defer to your judgment. I won’t take any for myself; let my three brothers absorb them first since we discovered them together!” Ouyang En replied.
“Alright then!” Wang Chao nodded.
Just then, Wang Chao felt something above him, as if something was stirring. While he spoke earlier, he had sensed a rustling sound. He looked up and saw a giant insect about seven or eight meters long clinging to the cave ceiling. It had six legs and numerous barbed spikes at the front of its legs, resembling a sharp dagger.
The two antennae on its head moved like whips, and its chewing mouthparts revealed two enormous teeth that were as sharp as cleavers. The others followed Wang Chao's gaze and looked up, spotting the creature as well. Aikun'er screamed out loud. Wang Chao wanted to stop her, but it was too late; her scream echoed through the cave, causing everyone’s heads to throb.
At that moment, the giant insect moved.
“Quickly retreat outside the cave! I’ll hold it off!” Wang Chao shouted. He finally understood why the Crystals had mysteriously disappeared; clearly, they had been absorbed by the Giant Grasshopper above them. Otherwise, no matter how mutated it was, there was no way a Grasshopper could grow to seven or eight meters long. If all Grasshoppers could reach such sizes, humanity would be in serious trouble.
Before he could finish his thought, Aikun'er’s scream provoked the Giant Grasshopper that had been poised above them. As they tried to flee, the Grasshopper dropped down and severed the escape route for Wang Chao, Ouyang En, and the three team members. The five of them were too close to the Crystals to retreat further when suddenly the Grasshopper raised its two front legs like a mantis ready to strike at them.
The speed and power of that strike were undoubtedly above Diamond level!
Indeed, over the past six months, this Grasshopper had absorbed half of the Crystals—over one hundred thousand of them! In an instant, Wang Chao didn’t have time to think; he grabbed Ouyang En by his clothing with one hand while raising his other hand like a shield in front of himself. Just as the Grasshopper’s dagger-like leg came crashing down, Wang Chao hurled Ouyang En behind him toward the monster.
"Run!" Wang Chao barely managed to shout that one word before feeling a violent impact against his chest, sending him flying. The three people beside him had no time to react; they were cleaved in half at the waist. Even at that moment, they were still oblivious to what had just happened, exchanging bewildered glances until they finally collapsed to the ground.
Wang Chao was directly struck by the Grasshopper and crashed into the Crystal. As he tumbled within the Crystal, he had no idea how many things he had shattered. Suddenly, bronze, silver, and golden lights swirled around him like flying One-Eyed Dragons, occasionally surging into his body. At that moment, the Giant Grasshopper was also drawn to these lights, waving its long legs in the air.
Warm currents flowed through Wang Chao's body, and he felt his strength increasing. Meanwhile, the Grasshopper stepped into the Crystal as well. The two of them resembled figures on a collapsing artificial mountain. Wang Chao couldn't fathom how powerful the Grasshopper would become after absorbing more energy; he needed to kill it before it grew stronger.
Wang Chao conjured a Bone Knife, but this time it shimmered with a silvery aura, appearing ethereal. He swung it forward, and the silvery energy extended like a sword's aura, striking directly at the Grasshopper. The Grasshopper had absorbed a significant amount of Crystal and raised its front leg to block, but the Silver Stream hit its leg with such force that it broke on impact!
The silvery aura indeed resembled sword energy; Wang Chao's strength had increased significantly!
At that moment, the Grasshopper, enraged by its broken leg, charged at Wang Chao. Although it had lost one leg, it still had four others to support its body. On the mountain of Crystal, it continued to absorb more energy while causing parts of it to collapse. The Grasshopper moved effortlessly across the unstable terrain while Wang Chao struggled to maintain his balance with only two legs.
The Grasshopper swung its other front leg toward Wang Chao. He quickly raised his Bone Knife to block it, but as he stepped down, he crushed the Crystal beneath him and absorbed its energy. However, he missed blocking the Grasshopper's fierce strike. At that moment, the leg was already upon him; Wang Chao's hands were still in the air, making it impossible for him to pull back in time.
As that incredibly sharp leg came slicing toward him—capable of cleaving a person in two—Wang Chao felt an overwhelming urgency. Suddenly, he sensed something within his mind shatter as if breaking through a bottleneck. In an instant, golden chunks seemed to sprout from his body.
It was as if he donned a layer of golden armor that emerged directly from his flesh. Wang Chao himself was bewildered by this transformation. Just then, the long leg struck against his Golden Armor but left not a single mark on him. At that moment, Wang Chao unleashed another Silver Stream that sliced down toward the Grasshopper's head.
However, the Grasshopper's head was incredibly tough; despite the strike, only a small dent appeared!
