Previously, the sky-blue light illuminated the entire passage. The few who had rushed out were confused about what had happened and were now peering around the corner. Wang Chao waved at them and said, "It's all right now; I've killed the Giant Grasshopper." The group looked down and saw that although the Giant Grasshopper's legs were still twitching, it was clearly dead.
A few of them approached, and Ouyang En, upon seeing the bodies of the three, felt a deep sadness. Wang Chao patted his shoulder and said, "Take care." Wang Chao understood Ouyang En's feelings; to be honest, over the past few years, Ouyang En had grown much closer to them than he had to anyone else. "I never expected that after enduring six months of brutal torment," Ouyang En said, "they would die here."
"Let's bury them," Wang Chao said. "The remaining Crystal doesn't have much energy left either. Yuan Min, let's pack it up and take it to the Safe Zone as a reward for those who contributed to it!"
After everything was sorted out and discussed, they decided to head back to the Zhonghu Safety Zone.
At the Zhonghu Safety Zone, inside a small building.
"Tie Ge, is this really the decision?" a team member asked Iron Joy, who was sitting on the stairs smoking. Iron Joy furrowed his brow, lost in thought. Upon hearing the team member's question, he didn't rush to answer but took a deep drag from his cigarette as if trying to inhale it all at once. Then he exhaled a smoke ring and said, "It's been a long time since I've smoked like this."
As he spoke, Iron Joy pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket. This pack had cost only ten yuan five years ago but could now be traded for a gold bar. It was the same pack that Wang Chao had snatched from the Black Clothes Society at that supermarket. Looking at it brought back memories of Wang Chao standing defiantly against the Black Clothes Society in front of many residents of the Safe Zone.
"Here, let's share these cigarettes!" Iron Joy said as he rummaged through his clothes and found three packs of cigarettes, one of which looked quite crumpled. Outside the stairwell, there were about a hundred people—some young, some old. Dividing three packs among them meant each person would barely get one cigarette; two people would have to share one. Yet not a single person complained.
Iron Joy continued, "Brothers, I'm sorry; this is all we have left. The rest has gone towards buying weapons and Crystal. However, if this plan succeeds, we'll have whatever we want. Remember to stick to the plan and absolutely avoid exposure—especially don’t let that Wang Chao know. That person is very mysterious and dangerous!"
"Understood!" The response from the crowd was not loud but rather subdued, too quiet for those outside to hear.
"Chief, am I still on my original assignment?" one voice suddenly broke through.
Iron Joy took another drag from his cigarette and replied, "Yes, continue with it. Just remember—do not expose yourselves."
"I understand!" the man said.
After a moment of smoking, the crowd of about a hundred people dispersed, leaving only Iron Joy sitting on the stairs. At that moment, Iron Joy had just finished his last cigarette. He tossed the butt onto the stairs and stood up, forcefully stamping it out with his toe, as if he intended to crush the stairs themselves.
"Yuan Min, just wait."
Meanwhile, inside the Anfei Safe Zone.
"Boss, we lost a total of one hundred twenty-three brothers and thirty-two were injured," a bespectacled young man reported to Liu He, who was seated on the sofa. It had been over four hours since Wang Chao and his group caused chaos in the Anfei Safe Zone. The bespectacled youth continued, "We killed two members of the Black Clothes Society, but the rest escaped. Now we have a grudge against them."
"Damn it!" Liu He smashed the cup in front of him onto the floor, the sound echoing sharply in the large room. "It's all that little bastard Wang Chao! I should have killed him four years ago! For three years, I haven't heard his name in the south, but how could he possibly get involved with The Black-Clad Society? Right, he seemed to mention something about protecting girls!"
At this point, Liu He suddenly seemed to remember something and said, "That girl must be someone extraordinary. Find out her identity. Go to the black market and see what rumors are circulating. Report back to me on any developments. Understood? And bring Mali here."
"Understood!" the bespectacled man replied.
He left, and shortly after, a burly bald man entered and plopped down on the sofa. "Brother Liu, I heard someone caused trouble in the Safe Zone? If I had been here, those bastards wouldn't have dared to act up. Tell me who it is; I'll wipe out their entire family with just one word from you!"
Liu He could only smile wryly and shake his head. "It's The Black-Clad Society. Do you dare to provoke them?"
Upon hearing Liu He mention The Black-Clad Society, Mali fell silent.
Liu He continued, "From today onward, all troops are to cease searching. Soon, we may face a major battle involving us, Zhonghu Safety Zone, and Black Clothes Society. The relationships are complicated, but if we can pry open Ouyang En's mouth and obtain that massive amount of Crystal, we will surely unify these three forces and become the true winners!"
Before he could finish speaking, a hurried voice came from outside, shouting, "Leader, it's bad! Ouyang En and several of his trusted subordinates have escaped! The brothers in the dungeon are all dead! We don't know where they went!"
"Damn it, what!" Liu He jumped to his feet and exclaimed, "Is heaven trying to destroy me? Once Ouyang En gets out and encounters Wang Chao, he will definitely tell Wang Chao the location of the Crystal. How are we supposed to win then?" What Liu He didn't realize was that the very thing he feared had already happened, and Wang Chao had absorbed as many as one hundred thousand Crystals, elevating himself directly to the Diamond Upper Level.
At that moment, another voice shouted from outside the door, "Leader, leader! Someone from the Zhonghu Safety Zone has arrived!"
Liu He ran his fingers through his hair in frustration and took several deep breaths before asking, "What do they want?"
"They said they were sent by Iron Joy, but they insist they must see you to explain further!" the person replied.
"Let them in!" Liu He commanded. He still had aces up his sleeve. Wang Chao, I will ensure that you have no place to bury your body.
