Wang Chao could no longer see any fear or shock on Liu He's face; instead, there was only endless indifference, a coldness towards human life. The Bone Knife plunged directly towards Liu He, while at the same time, Liu He's tentacles lunged from behind Wang Chao. Without even turning his head, Wang Chao felt a powerful gust of wind sweeping towards him from behind. The Concrete Floor was torn apart by the force of the tentacles, and stones were sent flying in all directions.
At that moment, Wang Chao's feet tapped the ground a few times, and he leaped into the air. He then used the Bone Knife to support himself on the ground, spinning like a top in midair, evading the numerous incoming tentacles. At the same time, he blocked the stones that were sent flying by the tentacles. In that instant, Wang Chao became like a drill, aiming directly at Liu He's face.
Seeing that his tentacles had failed to hit Wang Chao, two Worm-like appendages shot out one after another. As they swung through the air, their teeth continuously snapped together, dripping a greenish substance resembling saliva from their mouths, emitting a foul odor. These two Worms seemed to possess independent thought as they relentlessly pursued Wang Chao's shoulders, almost like homing missiles determined to latch onto him.
Wang Chao's Bone Knife was now just a few centimeters away from Liu He's face. At this moment, more tentacles surged from behind him while the two Worms lunged for his shoulders. In response to this situation, Wang Chao did not dodge or evade; it was as if he had resolved to confront Liu He head-on. Liu He merely frowned slightly; any trace of his previous cowardice and timidity had vanished.
Liu He also chose not to dodge or evade. Now he wanted to see whether his tentacles would be faster or if Wang Chao's Bone Knife would reach him first. The Bone Knife was mere centimeters from Liu He's face, but behind him, the tentacles were closing in on Wang Chao as well. In an instant, Wang Chao's Bone Knife pierced Liu He's face while the tentacles struck Wang Chao's body!
Wang Chao's Golden Armor was pierced directly by the tentacles, demonstrating their incredible hardness. Wang Chao felt as if his body were being penetrated by thousands of arrows as the tentacles drove through him. At the same time, his Bone Knife stabbed into Liu He's face. Gritting his teeth, Wang Chao forcefully thrust upward, sending Liu He's head flying off.
Both of them collapsed to the ground; Liu He’s headless body reverted to its original form while Wang Chao lay there with dozens of tentacles piercing through him. He stared blankly at the sky, his consciousness fading. Wang Chao had lost count of how many times he had ended up like this. He did not know if he would die, but he knew that in this war, Aivina had won.
The Black Clothes Society had triumphed. Unexpectedly, both he and Liu He had become mere spectacles for others to watch. Had Liu He overestimated his own strength or simply could not resist wanting to claim dominance in the South? Wang Chao did not know; gritting his teeth, he sat up. Now he had to escape; otherwise, if Aivina saw him, he would surely meet a fate worse than death.
Wang Chao struggled to stand up, but what lay before him left him stunned: Liu He's headless corpse stood up once again. Anyone witnessing this would feel an overwhelming sense of horror as the headless body slowly rose and swayed side to side. Then countless tentacles extended from its body where its head should have been; two Worms appeared in place of its missing head.
Wang Chao looked closely and realized that these two Worms were actually Liu He's former hands. For some unknown reason, they emerged from Liu He's body that no longer had a head as if two snail eyes had sprouted directly from his neck—an incredibly bizarre and grotesque sight. Wang Chao fought against his rising panic; he was already on the brink of collapse.
He could feel life gradually slipping away from his body; exhaustion inevitably led to death. There would be no second Zhang Yunhao in this world to help heal him!
With this thought in mind, Wang Chao could no longer concern himself with matters regarding the Black Clothes Society. He dashed towards the still swaying corpse; dark red energy surged forth as he unleashed an attack against this monster before him. Seeing Wang Chao charging at it with ferocity, it quickly raised its tentacles to defend itself. But this time, Wang Chao had cast aside all thoughts except for one: to kill this thing before him.
The tentacles collided with Wang Chao's Bone Knife, and the dark red light flowing from Wang Chao severed all the tentacles that were blocking him. The target was the creature's tentacles, which realized Wang Chao's strength. Two Worms opened their large mouths and lunged at Wang Chao. In a flash, the confrontation between man and monster began, with Wang Chao slicing through one of the Worms with his Bone Knife.
However, the other Worm bit down on Wang Chao's neck. With a loud shout, Wang Chao swung his Bone Knife at the Worm, but it had already bitten a massive wound into his neck, exposing the veins beneath. With that single strike, both Wang Chao and the monster collapsed to the ground. At that moment, Wang Chao's consciousness began to fade completely; he could only see the blue sky and white clouds before everything went dark.
Meanwhile, the monster's body continued to writhe on the ground. In the distance, a figure resembling a little girl appeared. If Wang Chao were conscious, he would recognize her as Xiaocao. Xiaocao slowly walked between Wang Chao and the monster, observing them for a long while before saying, "It seems that forcibly altering human genes is not feasible!"
As she spoke, Xiaocao lifted Wang Chao onto her back and continued, "It's better to let humanity evolve on its own. Grandpa's experiment has failed again. However, this Subject 618 is quite resilient. Let's see how far you can go!" With that, Xiaocao took off running and vanished into the towering steel forest in an instant.
What Xiaocao did not notice was that one of the Worms severed by Wang Chao was still writhing and burrowed into Liu He’s body, disappearing deep within him. Moments later, Liu He stood up again. Without one of the Worms, he seemed to struggle to maintain his balance. He approached his own head with tentacles wrapping around it and then walked off in an unknown direction.
Aside from the corpses of soldiers scattered on the ground, there were no other traces left behind, as if the epic battle that had just occurred had never happened at all.
