Two days later, Xiaocao stepped onto a small island, one that floated entirely on the ocean. It was not very large, and its location would never appear on any map because it was not fixed; this was a moving island, constantly changing its position across the vast expanse of the Pacific. To date, no outsider had ever set foot on this island. 0

Yet Xiaocao had found it just like that, without any means of transportation, and her clothes were not even wet from the sea. She walked through dense forests and muddy ground, occasionally catching sight of various strange animals or fierce beasts around her, as if she were in a large facility used for secret biological experiments. 0

As Xiaocao walked, she suddenly heard a thunderous roar echoing around her. Just then, a vibrant tiger sprang out in front of her. Its shape was not much different from an ordinary tiger, but its entire body was blue with purple spots. Anyone who saw it would find it incredibly bizarre; however, Xiaocao showed no reaction at all. 0

The tiger spotted Xiaocao but did not pounce on her. Instead, it ran past her in sheer terror, as if something was chasing it from behind. Indeed, Xiaocao soon felt the ground tremble beneath her feet, as if some colossal creature was charging toward them. Before the tiger could get far, a massive dinosaur suddenly appeared before Xiaocao. 0

Yes, it was a living Tyrannosaurus Rex. For some unknown reason, this species that had been extinct for millions of years had appeared on this small island. When the Tyrannosaurus Rex saw Xiaocao and opened its enormous jaws to bite—its teeth seemingly as large as Xiaocao herself—she remained completely still, merely looking up at the dinosaur. Then, to everyone’s astonishment, the Tyrannosaurus Rex turned and ran away as if it had seen something terrifying. 0

Xiaocao muttered to herself, “This little brat has been getting more and more irritable lately. I’ve said before that this is an animal's nature; it cannot be changed. Yet the young lady refuses to believe me!” With that, she shook her head and continued walking forward. After an unknown amount of time, a door suddenly opened in front of her, and she walked right in. 0

As soon as Xiaocao entered, the door closed behind her. At that moment, a rabbit-like creature dashed through the door she had just passed through, suggesting that there had never been a door there at all; everything was merely an illusion. If people from the outside world could see this island, they would surely marvel at how advanced its technology was—at least hundreds of years ahead of their time—with space-folding techniques evident everywhere. 0

Upon entering the door, Xiaocao found herself enveloped in darkness until she took a few steps forward and light flooded in. Those few steps felt as though she were moving through nothingness. The bright area revealed a vast space with an endless darkness at its farthest point—a darkness that seemed capable of swallowing everything whole. Without turning back, Xiaocao ventured deeper into this expansive area. 0

Inside were various instruments and unknown creatures. If Wang Chao were to see this place, he would undoubtedly be astonished to find here the round-bodied creatures with numerous legs he had encountered before—they originated from this very place. As Xiaocao entered a room, she noticed an old man hunched over in front of one of these creatures, continuously slicing at it with a knife. 0

This bloody scene appeared quite ordinary to both of them. The old man had sparse white hair and looked like a great director among Fire Cloud Evil Gods; perhaps high-intelligence scientists were all like this. He wore tattered clothing that seemed to have gone unwashed since he put it on twenty years ago. When Xiaocao entered, he didn’t turn around but simply said blandly, “Why are you back so soon? You should be out exploring the outside world instead of wasting time with an old man like me!” 0

Xiaocao replied, “I returned because I discovered high-intensity cellular life within Subject 618's body; it seems capable enough for our final plan. I’m not sure if now is the right time to discuss it with you.” 0

“Oh?” Hearing Xiaocao’s words, the old man finally lifted his head and asked, “Is that so? What is its current condition?” 0

"He is currently in a coma, his neck bitten through by Subject 13209, and his body and brain have lost connection. Yet, he managed to kill Subject 13209!" Xiaocao recounted what she had seen from a distance that day. "From this, it seems that the true essence of life's evolution may lie within life itself, rather than the various things we impose upon it that do not belong to it—about the lady's situation..." 0

"No!" Upon hearing this, the old man's features twisted in a mixture of sorrow and fervor, an expression so intense that it seemed impossible for one face to hold both emotions simultaneously. "You must understand, we only have one chance. I cannot allow her to be in any danger, not even the slightest risk. Do you understand?" As he spoke, the old man unconsciously reached out to touch Xiaocao's face, but she did not flinch or shy away. 0

As he touched her, the old man's eyes closed, a look of satisfaction washing over his face. Suddenly, he opened his eyes wide and slapped Xiaocao across the face with a fierce blow. "You are not her! No, you are not her! Get out! Get out!" Xiaocao did not evade at all; instead, she stared blankly at the old man. It was only after several seconds of silence that he returned to normal. 0

He seemed to feel guilty about his actions and stepped back from Xiaocao. "I'm sorry. You know... I..." The old man stammered, struggling to find useful words. He dared not approach Xiaocao again, as if she were some ferocious beast. Xiaocao's face flushed slightly, but she showed no sign of being offended as she said softly, "It's okay." 0

Just those simple words made the old man let out a self-deprecating laugh before he replied, "Right, why would you care? You don't even have feelings; how could you have emotions? Perhaps this is your greatest difference from her. But after all my efforts, why can’t I take this step?" After a long pause, he continued, "That Wang Chao, you still need to save him. Right now, he is the most promising seed." 0

"Stay close to him and observe his condition carefully." With that said, he bent down again to study the lifeless animal nearby. 0
