Wang Chao struggled to crawl out from under the corpse of the monster. Indeed, he was crawling because his shoulder had been completely crushed by the creature, leaving him unable to exert any strength. At that moment, two members of the Squad rushed over to help the fallen individuals. Wang Chao looked and saw that Wang Luochuan and Aivina had their throats completely torn open by the monster, blood oozing from their wounds as they gasped for air. It looked very serious; if this continued, they could die from suffocation.
"Find some hollow branches and insert them into their tracheas so they can breathe!" Wang Chao instructed. This was something he had learned in the Thunder Strike Team, where the members had considerable first aid knowledge. They quickly followed Wang Chao's orders and inserted hollow branches into the tracheas of both victims. Almost immediately, he could see their abdomens rising and falling again. Strictly speaking, this wasn't a life-threatening injury anymore.
At that moment, Da Qiang approached. Wang Chao noticed that Da Qiang's wrist bone had been crushed, and his specially designed gloves were shattered, stuck on his wrist so tightly that he couldn't even take them off. Wang Chao shook his head; indeed, the monster was powerful. It took two lower-tier extraordinary individuals and two Diamond Mid-Tier fighters just to bring it down. Fortunately, everything was about to end.
"Let's head back to recover from our injuries. We'll leave the task of finding survivors to Tang Feng, Xiao Wei, and the others. Our mission is complete!" Wang Chao said as he tried to move his shoulder. Just then, Da Qiang pointed at the monster's corpse lying nearby and exclaimed, "Brother Wang, look! That monster seems to still be moving!" Da Qiang's voice was loud enough for everyone to hear, and they all turned to look at the creature's body.
Sure enough, Wang Chao saw a wriggling worm emerging from the shattered head of the monster. In an instant, he realized what this creature truly was; it was Liu He! Wang Chao had a vivid memory of Liu He—over four months ago, he remembered decapitating Liu He and seeing what looked like two eyes in his neck: now that worm!
Back then, Wang Chao had only killed one worm; he never expected that with just one remaining worm, Liu He would come back to life again as such a formidable being. No one noticed that Xiaocao's eyes lit up as her mind raced with calculations! But right now, everyone else was too preoccupied to care about what Xiaocao was thinking. Wang Chao shouted, "Squad members, take the injured and leave first! Da Qiang, you and I will cover their retreat!"
If there were another resurrection, no one here would stand a chance against this monster! As Wang Chao spoke, the worm quickly slithered back into Liu He's body. Immediately after, Liu He's corpse began to move again. The Squad members were already carrying Aivina and Wang Luochuan down the mountain while Wang Chao and Da Qiang could not leave just yet; they had to protect everyone else first.
The corpse stood up directly; its head was gone but Liu He's facial features appeared on its stomach instead. The monster charged at Wang Chao with a mouth that seemed to be saying something: "Die, Wang Chao, die!" The face actually spoke, leaving Wang Chao in disbelief!
It seemed that Liu He's hatred ran deep; without a head, he charged forward. With both of Wang Chao's shoulders shattered, he had almost no ability left to fight back against this creature. Meanwhile, Da Qiang's wrist was broken as well and he had lost his weapon; fighting this monster with just bare hands could lead to death!
However, neither of them had time to think about anything else—the Squad members hadn't gotten far yet. If they chose to run now, the others would be in danger. With no other options left, Wang Chao could only run in another direction to draw the monster away from his teammates. But Liu He seemed determined to kill him; in an instant, he was right in front of Wang Chao with sharp claws aimed at his heart.
Wang Chao couldn't lift his arms at all; blocking was impossible. Just then, Da Qiang struck the monster with his bare hand, knocking it off course momentarily while Wang Chao kicked out at its face. However, after that kick, it felt like kicking a solid rock—the monster didn't budge!
The creature's claws dug into Wang Chao's skin, tearing open a large gash. Da Qiang charged in again and tightly embraced the monster transformed from Liu He. "Brother Wang! Run! I'll hold him off—go now! If you stay here, we’ll all die!"
"To hell with you!" Wang Chao shouted. Back in Yucheng, Da Qiang had died in front of him once, and at that time, Da Qiang had done the same—using his body to clear a path while shouting for everyone to get away. Wang Chao had experienced that feeling of helplessness and unwillingness once, and he didn't want to go through it again! If it was possible this time, Wang Chao would rather be the one to die!
The monster's claws had already pierced into Da Qiang's body. In a fit of rage, Wang Chao felt as if all the blood in his body was igniting; every ounce of strength within him seemed to explode. Fueled by this anger and unwillingness, Wang Chao broke through to the mid-level of the Extraordinary realm! In an instant, he charged forward, leaping high and delivering a powerful kick to the monster's body. The creature was sent flying far away by Wang Chao's furious strike, and he managed to save Da Qiang.
However, even after breaking through, Wang Chao's two arms, which had suffered broken shoulders, could not exert much force. At that moment, the monster launched its strongest attack against him. Completely disregarding its own injuries, it charged at Wang Chao once more. Wang Chao was prepared; he kicked the monster squarely in the face. Yet, astonishingly, the creature did not dodge or evade; it took the hit head-on and aimed to pierce Wang Chao's heart again!
The monster had completely lost any sense of self-preservation. It now had only one goal: to kill Wang Chao!
The claws were piercing into Wang Chao's body, while Da Qiang was too far away to help. With no way to evade, it would only take a second before Wang Chao's heart would be pierced directly!
