At that moment, Shen Zhitao had already used a dagger to slice the operating table in half. A mass of black shadows gathered around, completely enveloping both the severed operating table and Wang Chao. Following that, the operating table and Wang Chao floated into the air, the black mist being Little Grudge taking form, drifting outward.
"No, I won't accept this! I refuse to accept it!" The old man clawed at his hair with both hands, kneeling on the ground and screaming in agony, his face twisted with rage. "Hahaha, I've poured my heart and soul into this for over twenty years! Since Hua can't wake up, you all must die! You all must die! I want you to accompany Hua in death; I want you all to go to hell!" As he spoke, the old man pulled out a mysterious vial from his pocket and frantically began to consume its contents.
"Xiao Cao, kill everyone here!" he shouted while swallowing the pills.
At this moment, Xiao Cao had already lost one arm and had a deep wound on the other, blood continuously flowing from both injuries. Yet, upon hearing the old man's command, Xiao Cao stood up like an unyielding warrior. A chill ran through everyone's hearts; who would have thought that just a few months ago they had celebrated New Year together and played as friends, and now Xiao Cao had become their greatest adversary?
How ironic it would be if Wang Chao could see this...
"Gao Rui and the others are outside; we must hold them back! We cannot let them escape!" Shen Zhitao shouted.
Meanwhile, Wang Chao had already been transformed into black mist by Little Grudge and was being sent outside through a void door. The surrounding guards were already in control of the area; a massive tent had been set up, indicating prior preparation. As soon as Wang Chao emerged, he was taken inside the tent by several people. Inside was a plethora of complex instruments that seemed incomprehensible, and it was unclear how they had been brought there. Inside the tent, Gao Rui was already prepared, with Aivina standing guard beside him.
"Damn it, how did it come to this?" Gao Rui exclaimed upon seeing Wang Chao's emaciated form. He then noticed the tubes still inserted into Wang Chao's body and the bodily fluids leaking out—everything indicated that Wang Chao's life was hanging by a thread. If he wasn't treated soon, he could very well die! Though Gao Rui cursed under his breath incessantly, his hands moved swiftly as he worked on Wang Chao's wounds. Aivina acted as Gao Rui's assistant.
"The heart is dead, but other cells are still alive; however, far too many body cells have been lost!" Gao Rui muttered while manipulating various instruments on Wang Chao's body. It was evident that Wang Chao's life force was at its most critical edge. "This is tough; half of the cells in his body have been extracted. With our current methods, we can only prevent further cell death and loss, but given his condition, these remaining cells alone won't be enough to save him!"
Gao Rui then glanced at Aivina before looking back at Wang Chao.
Aivina also looked at Gao Rui. Although she didn't fully understand what he meant by those words, she sensed that saving Wang Chao seemed to involve her somehow. "If there's anything you need me to do, just say it!" Aivina said.
Gao Rui nodded and then turned to Wang Chao. "You know that six months ago you were gravely injured and nearly died. Back then, to save you, I used the same cells I once used to save you."
Aivina seemed to grasp what Gao Rui was implying. She furrowed her brow and said, "Are you suggesting that my cells should be transferred into Wang Chao's body?"
Gao Rui nodded and said, "That's right. The cells he has lost are far too many. You only need to transfer about a third of your cells to Wang Chao. Afterwards, you might fall into a coma, or you might not. This is something you have to decide for yourself; after all, I can't overpower you! But perhaps it's also a matter of fate. After all, he saved you six months ago; otherwise, he wouldn't have this chance to be saved by you. Of course, whether to save him or not is up to you."
Upon hearing Gao Rui's words, Aivina smiled lightly and replied, "There's no need to play the sympathy card. Since he once saved my life, I will save his in return; that way, it can be considered even!"
Gao Rui nodded. There was no time to waste. Although this technique sounded difficult, there were others in the world who could perform it. If Wang Chao were awake, he would surely reflect on the cycle of cause and effect in life, just as the old monk on the snowy mountain had spoken. The key points in saving Wang Chao were all intertwined with fate.
First, if Zhuang Peng hadn't shot the Bone Arrow back then, Wang Chao would never have chosen to save Shui Yun'er; thus, Zhuang Peng would not have come to rescue Wang Chao. Second, the Little Grudge who could instantly take Wang Chao away was also his enemy; that name was given by Wang Chao himself. If Wang Chao had killed Little Grudge back then, there wouldn't be today. Thirdly, Aivina had only been apart from Wang Chao for less than half a year. These three points were intricately connected—it truly seemed destined. If Wang Chao had made any contrary decision at any point in time, he wouldn't be where he was today.
Half an hour later, one of Wang Chao's fingers moved!
An hour later, one of Wang Chao's arms moved!
The massive and complex machine was working. Watching Wang Chao's emaciated body slowly regain vitality, Gao Rui finally breathed a sigh of relief. He recalled the design blueprint of the enormous machine that Shen Zhitao had entrusted to him; it had been manufactured on that gigantic transport aircraft. Even Gao Rui felt an overwhelming shock inside—this technology had surpassed this world by at least a hundred years or more! Yet now that such a machine was operational, he couldn't help but wonder where Shen Zhitao had obtained this technology.
Two hours later, Wang Chao opened his eyes and groggily looked at his surroundings. His first question was, "What’s going on right now?"
Gao Rui quickly replied, "We just rescued you from inside; the others seem to still be inside and there appears to be a strong enemy present!" Upon hearing this, Wang Chao immediately stood up and pulled out the tubes attached to him before heading straight toward the void door. He knew that if things had progressed this far, his people must have already engaged in battle with Xiaocao; he had to stop it!
"It’s not time yet! The cells can only sustain your activity for about an hour; if you're going into battle, it'll be even shorter!" Gao Rui shouted from behind, but Wang Chao disregarded him and walked straight in.
