"In the back of the Zombie horde!" Little Grudge kept his eyes closed and spoke softly, "It seems like he's hiding well. I can only roughly determine the range. He seems to have sensed my Mental Power, but he doesn't seem to want to retreat. He wants to compete with me in Mental Power. Right now, my Mental Power is strong. What should I do?"
"He's either someone who fears death or a strategist," Wang Chao said with a smile. "But it looks like he's the latter. The people in that mysterious unit, as the Zhang Family's last trump card, don't seem foolish. He must be trying to exhaust your Mental Power. He'll pretend that his Mental Power is depleted and slowly withdraw, probing for your location every minute before retreating immediately. You can manage that, right?"
"I can!" Little Grudge nodded and replied, "But once I release my Mental Power, he will sense it. That’s something I can't hide, unless he disperses his own Mental Power!"
"Then it all depends on speed!" Wang Chao said. "Little Wolf!"
Little Wolf understood Wang Chao's intention and began to run quickly. Since the controller had already noticed Wang Chao, he would surely use the advantage of the Zombies to block him. Sure enough, after running a few hundred meters, the surrounding Zombies began to move. This was not a natural reaction; it was clear someone was controlling them. Before Little Wolf could reach them, the Zombies had already spread out, revealing a roughly hundred-meter-wide empty circle in the middle. Little Wolf jumped right in.
As soon as Little Wolf entered, the Zombies surrounded him and Wang Chao, seemingly intent on trapping both of them within this encirclement.
A massive Zombie foot came crashing down towards Little Wolf. The foot was several meters wide; if it landed squarely, both he and Wang Chao would be turned into mush. Wang Chao patted Little Wolf's body. Although this giant creature was enormous and powerful, it was correspondingly slow. Even though it had already lifted its foot earlier, by the time Little Wolf landed, it still hadn't brought its foot down. Little Wolf leaped up directly onto the giant creature's foot and began to run up its body.
In just a few seconds, Little Wolf reached the shoulder of the Giant Zombie. At that moment, Wang Chao swung his Panlong Blade; as it swept past the Giant Zombie, it pierced directly into its eye and then sliced horizontally, causing chaos in the Zombie's brain. Then Little Wolf stomped down hard, causing the Giant Zombie's body to topple backward.
"Now's our chance!" Wang Chao exclaimed. "That person is in that area!"
Little Grudge closed his eyes.
The Zombie fell backward quickly, and Little Wolf ran atop its collapsing body while the surrounding Zombies were completely unprepared for this turn of events. The controller of the Zombies seemed unable to anticipate that Little Wolf could run on top of such a large Zombie's body as if it were an elevated bridge—safe and unobstructed. At that moment, those Zombies that sprayed Mucus didn't care about friendly fire and directly sprayed Mucus at Little Wolf on top of the giant Zombie.
Wang Chao tied his Panlong Blade behind him and drew a circle with his hands in mid-air, controlling the Mucus being sprayed so that it surrounded everyone’s bodies before continuously falling onto the Giant Zombie and nearby Zombies, leaving behind patches of corrosive holes. At this point, Little Grudge had sensed the position of the controller—it was just within a few dozen meters nearby.
"There!" Little Grudge pointed to a spot. Wang Chao nodded and said to Little Wolf, "Go there as fast as you can!"
Little Wolf howled to indicate understanding, and then, before the Zombie could fall, he leaped forward, covering dozens of meters in a single bound. At that moment, the Giant Zombie finally collapsed, crushing a large number of various Zombies behind it into a pulp. Little Wolf, along with Wang Chao, had already arrived in this area. Little Grudge said, "The Mental Power has disappeared, but it's among these Zombies!"
Wang Chao nodded and drew the Panlong Blade again. He weaved through the horde of corpses, and within just a few seconds, hundreds of Zombies were sliced into pieces by Wang Chao's Panlong Blade. At that moment, one Zombie that appeared unscathed suddenly ran away in the opposite direction. Unlike the other Zombies instinctively rushing toward them, this one was clearly the controller of the Zombies!
"There!" Wang Chao exchanged glances with Little Grudge and urged Little Wolf to run toward that Zombie.
The controller hiding among the Zombies let out a sigh of relief, thinking his ploy to draw the tiger away from its mountain had succeeded. However, as he raised his head, he saw a gleaming Panlong Blade and an enraged giant wolf. In an instant, he felt his head fly off. He watched helplessly as his body fell to the ground. Wang Chao's speed was astonishing; even as his head flew away, he was not yet dead. It wasn't until his head landed on the ground and was trampled into mush by countless Zombies that he finally perished.
It turned out that when Wang Chao directed Little Wolf to chase after that Zombie, he already knew it wasn't the controller because in an instant, Little Grudge sensed the Mental Power emanating nearby. That Zombie was merely a tool to draw them away; to avoid raising suspicion from the controller, Wang Chao had said what he did. Then, with Little Wolf, he arrived here and swiftly killed the controller.
At that moment, without the controller's influence, all the Zombies began to act on instinct. The surrounding Zombies surged toward Wang Chao and his companions while those in front continued to push toward the Jing City Safe Zone. The scene was chaotic; the Giant Zombie hurled rocks while other Zombies sprayed corrosive liquid indiscriminately. Many Zombies fell victim to their own kind.
"Are there any more Mind Controllers?" Wang Chao asked Little Grudge while slashing through Zombies with Little Wolf.
Little Grudge closed his eyes and concentrated for a long time before responding, "I don't think there are any left. Even if there are more, they probably wouldn't dare use Mental Power after you've killed one controller. The Zombies have become disorganized; it won't take long to eliminate them—they're no longer a threat!" Wang Chao nodded and said, "Let's check other areas to see if there are any controllers left. If there are, we must eliminate them quickly!"
"Understood!" Little Grudge replied.
