Liu Jie, despite being a diamond-level fighter, had been battling without reservation for over an hour. Now, he found himself surrounded by numerous Zombies, his body covered in countless wounds. Large chunks of flesh had been torn away, and in some places, the blood had turned black, clearly infected by the virus. Yet, Liu Jie showed no signs of retreat; from the moment he joined the army, he had never backed down. 0

"Captain Liu! Count me in! I've never been a coward in my life!" shouted a soldier. "Damn it, I've killed at least ten Zombies today; I consider my life worth it! Old Wei, I'm coming for you! Make sure to save me a good spot down there! Captain Liu, twenty years from now, I'll still be your soldier!" With that, he charged forward with his Sabre, seemingly trying to echo Liu Jie’s resolve. 0

However, he was only at the Golden Level. After running just a few dozen meters, he was overwhelmed by the horde of Zombies and brought down to the ground. He was bitten in multiple places, his intestines even exposed. Yet he didn't utter a sound; lying on the ground, he continued to swing his long knife as if trying to take down as many Zombies as possible in his final moments. 0

"Count me in too! I joined the army to kill Zombies; if I can't kill them, I wouldn't be happy!" another soldier laughed as he rushed forward. His bullets were spent, and his Sabre was already dull, but he charged ahead and was quickly surrounded by the Zombie tide. Soon after, more soldiers returned to the battlefield—two, three, four—more and more joined the fray. 0

"Damn it! I actually died years ago! If it weren't for General Wang Chao and others risking their lives to charge into the Zombie tide to hold them back, I would have been dead long ago! Now I understand that I survived back then because I wasn't a man yet. But now, I am a man—a soldier! I want to save more people just like General Wang Chao saved me!" A young boy who looked barely in his teens shouted as he plunged into the swarm of Zombies. 0

"Kill! First squad, follow me! When have we ever fallen behind?" With a squad leader's shout, he called out for his squad; in reality, he was the only one left. He wanted to carry on for his fallen brothers and take down as many Zombies as possible! 0

"Kill! We are soldiers of Huaxia..." 0

The deafening roar echoed above Jing City and lingered in the air. Yes, they were warriors of Huaxia, guardians of their homeland. Unless someone stepped over their corpses, no one could harm those behind them without permission! The remaining few thousand soldiers surged forward like a small stream flowing into the ocean, quickly engulfed by the Zombie tide. 0

Yet not a single person retreated; not one person faltered. Our nation has never lacked brave souls. Since ancient times, we have had those who toil diligently, those who fight desperately for others' sake, those who sacrifice themselves for justice—this is the backbone of Huaxia. This is why people fight on even at the cost of their lives: as long as there are people fighting for hope. 0

Where there is hope, there is tomorrow; at this moment, they were hope itself. 0

"Block these Zombies!" It became impossible to discern whose voice it was; nearly everyone could no longer hear anything but the howls of Zombies surrounding them. They could not see their brothers anymore; all they faced were gaping maws ready to devour them. Yet deep down, they understood clearly that not far away—everywhere—there were others fighting tirelessly for the Safe Zone, for the elderly and children, for Huaxia's future! 0

One by one, bodies fell. Liu Jie could no longer lift his arms; everything around him blurred into chaos. He could not tell day from night or wind from cries. Finally, his legs could no longer support him; he collapsed with a thud and closed his eyes as his life flashed before him like a movie in his mind. 0

"This is too dangerous; you shouldn't be a scout..." These were the words of his mother when she learned he had become a scout. 0

"My son, I am proud that you are a soldier of Huaxia. Don't worry about me; do what a soldier should do. Go, my son!" These were her words before she was bitten to death by a Zombie. 0

"I am proud to be a Chinese Soldier!" he murmured, and then he lost consciousness forever, becoming just another piece of flesh in the mouths of countless Zombies. 0

More and more soldiers fell. What they thought before their deaths would forever remain a mystery to future generations. However, they knew that everything they had today was earned through the lives and blood of these predecessors. "We are the soldiers of Huaxia!" The Zombie Tide engulfed Team One and Team Three alike; not one of the over a hundred soldiers took a step back. 0

The speed of the elderly and children seemed like that of snails compared to these Zombies. At this moment, there were no standing soldiers left. Tang Feng and Da Qiang were exhausted. They exchanged glances, and Da Qiang said, "If we survive, tell Brother Wang that I, Da Qiang, did not retreat!" Tang Feng glanced at Da Qiang and replied, "Same here!" 0

At this moment, both men had completely disregarded their own safety... But what use was such an effort against an unstoppable force? The elderly and children retreating behind them had already been caught up by the Zombie Dogs, which began to wreak havoc among the crowd. The Zombie Tide felt it too. "Anyone with a weapon, block these Zombies for the elderly and children to escape first!" 0

A retreating Lathe Worker stood his ground at that moment. He had no gun, no knife, not even any weapon, yet he dared to use his body to block the oncoming Zombies. 0

"Protecting the elderly and children has never been solely the duty of soldiers; it's something every man should do!" another shouted. "Count me in! There may be hundreds of thousands of Zombies, but we have tens of thousands of men here. Are we afraid of Zombies? Charge!" 0

More and more men joined the ranks to block the Zombies. They had no guns, no knives, no weapons—only their bodies to shield others. They were ordinary workers with little strength, but they were also the backbone of Huaxia! Before long, thousands gathered together, their arms intertwined tightly, forming a thick wall connecting two buildings. 0

The charging Zombies were completely blocked outside this human barrier. They clawed and bit relentlessly, but even as they became corpses themselves, they did not fall. Rows upon rows of people formed this most solid wall of flesh—a final and only line of defense protecting the elderly and children. 0
