The deadline in January was nearing its end, and with only a few days left, Wang Chao dared not be negligent. Zhang Fusheng had never specified that only Wang Chao should come alone; it couldn't possibly be an oversight on Zhang Fusheng's part. He understood that no matter how many people came, it wouldn't make much difference. As the foremost figure in Huaxia, Zhang Fusheng wouldn't care about these individuals. However, Wang Chao still couldn't just bring everyone along. Since the appointment was made with him, he had to go alone first. 0

This way, he wouldn't provoke Zhang Fusheng's displeasure, and he could keep his people hidden in the shadows, allowing them to remain flexible and adaptable. As the saying goes, "the enemy is in the dark while we are in the light," which allows for better response strategies. He ordered Shen Zhitao to drop off his team outside the small town and then take the plane away. Naturally, whether they would leave or not was beyond Wang Chao's control. The super soldiers were entrusted to Da Qiang and Tang Feng to lead them into the small town, where they would lie in wait and either act based on the situation or follow Wang Chao's commands to launch an attack. 0

Wang Chao and Little Wolf set off towards the small town first. 0

Little Wolf was incredibly fast. Some say that one feels more timid when approaching home; this saying could apply to Wang Chao, but it felt somewhat awkward. Indeed, both Wang Chao and Yang Mengying hailed from this small town and shared an indescribable connection to it. Wang Chao had lived here for twenty years—starting from the orphanage, through university, and graduating—never having left. 0

However, the leak at the Nuclear Power Plant forced everyone to evacuate. Unexpectedly, five years later, Wang Chao found himself back here. He wondered whether the radiation still posed a threat to humans; he felt fine but noticed that Zhang Fusheng and others had remained here without any mutations. Presumably, given humanity's current constitution, as long as they weren't directly exposed to large amounts of nuclear energy, there shouldn't be any significant harm. 0

"Little Wolf, slow down! No need to rush!" Now that they had arrived at the small town, Wang Chao's initial urgency gradually subsided. With three days left until their month-long appointment, he realized that this small town had become one of the safest places in all of Huaxia. On his journey here, he encountered numerous zombies and monsters; even advanced mutated zombies were not uncommon. Fortunately, Wang Chao had reached a kingly level of strength by now, rendering these creatures nearly powerless against him and allowing him to arrive without delay. 0

However, upon reaching the small town, he was startled to find it devoid of any zombies or monsters. The high walls and electric fences he had previously ordered built were now destroyed. Logically speaking, there should have been many monsters lurking in the mountains behind the town—most of them having turned feral and attacking any living beings they encountered. Wang Chao had killed quite a few monsters here before; yet now, it was eerily empty. 0

Aside from the sound of broken doors and windows swaying in the spring breeze or old cans and glass bottles rolling on the ground, there was no other noise emanating from living creatures. Walking alone on these streets under broad daylight sent a chill down his spine—this truly felt like a Ghost City. 0

Out of nowhere, Wang Chao suddenly felt compelled to check on his home in the small town to see what had become of it. With that thought in mind, he arrived at his house—the same one he shared with Yang Mengying. Upon entering, he found the front door still wide open. From outside, he could see several corpses inside—bloodless remnants reduced to skeletons. 0

They appeared frozen mid-motion as if trying to escape. Wang Chao suddenly recalled that this was a safe house he had established during the early days of the zombie crisis; these individuals might have been trapped inside when the Zombie Virus outbreak occurred. Just as he intended to step inside to see if anything familiar remained, a powerful aura washed over him. Before he could react, a steel rebar shot out from within the house, crashing through a wall and lunging toward him. 0

The force behind this attack was tremendous. Wang Chao dodged backward and rolled onto the staircase; moving through the narrow hallway was inconvenient so he leaped out into the open ground outside. Little Wolf sensed danger as well; it stood up on alert in the open space, baring its teeth and scratching at the ground while facing toward the building with a threatening low growl. 0

Wang Chao hadn't expected to encounter such a formidable opponent in his own home—and he quickly deduced that this person must be Zhang Fusheng because who else would know about his hideout? It seemed likely that information had come from Yang Mengying. Sure enough, a figure leaped down from a window, stirring up clouds of dust on impact with the ground. 0

It couldn't be anyone else but Zhang Fusheng. 0

Unexpectedly, encountering Zhang Fusheng in this place was quite a twist of fate. Wang Chao wondered what Zhang Fusheng was doing in the small cabin. Neither of them spoke, merely sizing each other up. Zhang Fusheng looked much the same as before; his eyes still held a certain clarity, suggesting he hadn't yet succumbed to madness. However, that clarity was diminishing rapidly. At this rate, it wouldn't be long before the light in Zhang Fusheng's eyes completely vanished, turning him into a complete monster. 0

But Zhang Fusheng didn't see Wang Chao in the same light. He observed Wang Chao and felt that the aura around him had changed significantly. It seemed that Wang Chao's strength had indeed reached a new level. It was astonishing how quickly he had improved—within just a month, his power had surged again. Perhaps this time, things would go as planned; after all, time was running out for him. He needed to draw out Wang Chao's most formidable side. 0

With that thought in mind, Zhang Fusheng spoke up, "I didn't expect your strength to have increased so much. You truly are a genius in martial arts. Perhaps our grievances will finally be settled today." 0

Wang Chao ignored Zhang Fusheng. This was the usual routine whenever they met; it seemed Zhang Fusheng had an inexplicable obsession with Wang Chao's improvement, as if Wang Chao's lack of strength would somehow disappoint him. Wang Chao had no intention of indulging this line of conversation and instead asked, "What’s the situation with Yang Mengying? You haven’t done anything to her, have you?" 0

"Fortunately, you arrived on time; I haven't made my move yet!" Zhang Fusheng replied. "But now, I am going to make my move!" 0
