Frustration aside, Lin Yuan diligently gathered all the information he could about the two powerful Mutant Humans. Upon seeing their overwhelming strength, he realized that peaceful coexistence was impossible for him in this lifetime. Even if he revealed his former identity as a human, it would be of no use.
Unless he escaped to Mechanical City, as long as he remained on this planet, his relationship with those rebels would be one of life and death—either he would be killed, or he would eliminate all the rebels. There was simply no third option.
Soon, Lin Yuan discovered two massive motorcycles—or rather, tank-like motorcycles—near the two Mutant Humans. These machines were incredibly fierce, resembling raw beasts.
The front and rear wheels stood two meters high and were exceptionally thick, with a width of at least 80 centimeters. It was unclear what materials they were made from, but they seemed highly durable.
The motorcycle's body exuded a rugged barbarian vibe, with a massive engine covered in thick armor. One could imagine riding it at speeds reaching hundreds of kilometers per hour without caring about the condition of the road—it was indeed the epitome of cool!
However, what truly caught Lin Yuan's attention was a large bulging pocket mounted on one of the Beast Motorcycles. This pocket was filled with various Mechanical Beast wreckage, many of which he didn't recognize.
This discovery further confirmed that these Mutant Humans could smuggle and sell such resources to exchange for higher-grade equipment and parts.
For a moment, Lin Yuan felt envious but knew he could only watch. His strength was still too weak. If there were only one Mutant and they weren't wearing Exoskeleton Armor, he would have confidence in ambushing them. But now it was impossible; once those two Mutants donned their Exoskeleton Armor, their combat power would likely increase severalfold, making him no match for them.
Just as Lin Yuan prepared to retreat quietly, a roaring sound echoed from a distance, followed by two bright beams of light sweeping across the area. Two more Mutants rode back on their Beast Motorcycles from deep within the mountains. It appeared they were part of a Hunting Team, and both were clad in Exoskeleton Armor, towering over three meters tall. Their armor was highly advanced, leaving Lin Yuan dazzled.
One of them seemed to be the leader; his armor was particularly striking, featuring a faint blue energy shield. Lin Yuan recognized this Blue Energy Shield—it resembled the one emitted by the Dog-headed Wasp. As long as there was enough energy, it could be sustained indefinitely while emitting weak energy fluctuations that wouldn't attract attention from energy-sensitive Mechanical Life forms like Anzhela Venom Bees.
This situation sparked an idea in Lin Yuan's mind. Perhaps he could take some time to study the Dog-headed Wasp's Blue Energy Shield. If he could install one on his Mechanical Body, it would be incredibly impressive.
As Lin Yuan pondered this thought, he suddenly noticed that the leader Mutant seemed to be staring directly at him. A red light on his armored helmet flickered continuously—it must have been some sort of scanning device.
Seeing this, Lin Yuan cursed under his breath and instinctively jumped up to flee backward. Almost simultaneously, a device resembling a rocket launcher quickly rose from the shoulder of the leader's armor. A red beam shot out and obliterated the massive rock where Lin Yuan had been hiding, creating a crater over ten meters wide in the ground—a display of immense power and precision!
Although Lin Yuan had reacted quickly, the shockwave sent him tumbling several dozen meters away. At that moment, he couldn't afford to think about anything else; using the momentum from the blast, he rolled down the hilltop while cursing his bad luck. Those guys had scanning devices capable of wide-range searches—clearly designed to locate Mechanical Warriors—which is why he had been discovered.
But could he escape?
As soon as Lin Yuan reached the bottom of the hilltop, he heard a tremendous roar coming from behind him. The four Mutants had activated their Beast Motorcycles and were beginning their pursuit. With the speed of those machines, catching up to him would be effortless! A distance of ten kilometers wouldn't save his life.
With this thought in mind, Lin Yuan sighed deeply and stopped fleeing. Since death was inevitable anyway, he might as well fight for survival!
However, just as he thought of this, another idea popped into his mind: what standard was the search device using to conduct its search?
Metal objects? That was impossible, as the four Mutants were fully armored; they themselves wouldn’t pass that test.
Then, was it the fluctuation of life? Still not right; he didn’t have any Life Energy on him!
Ah, it must be the Energy Engine. Yes, it had to be the fluctuations emitted by the Energy Engine. In other words, it was the Centrifugal Stone Energy fluctuations. This kind of fluctuation was present not only in Mechanical Warriors but also in all Mechanical Creatures; the only difference was in magnitude!
As this conclusion flashed through his mind, Lin Yuan immediately knew what he needed to do. He quickly shut down the Second Audio-Visual Radar, Main Audio-Visual Radar, and all his Mechanical Arms—First, Second, Third, and Fourth—as well as all Intelligence Matrices except for the Mechanical Legs. At the same time, he instantly reduced the output power of the Energy Engine to its minimum, just enough to maintain his Intellect's operation and the movement of two Mechanical Legs.
This action reduced his output power by over 90%.
Lin Yuan was taking a gamble. He bet that the search device on the leader Mutant's helmet was subpar and could not perform perfect searches. In other words, when energy fluctuations dropped below a certain threshold, this search device would fail to detect its target.
Of course, this was just the first condition and far from sufficient. Once those four Mutants rode their Beast Motorcycles over, even with the naked eye, they would be able to see Lin Yuan. After all, beyond this Hilltop lay an endless plain; at their speed, even if Lin Yuan ran a hundred kilometers away, they could easily catch him!
For this reason, Lin Yuan relied on his long-standing good habit: upon reaching a location, he would immediately store all terrain features within his visual range in a Three-Dimensional Map within his Intellect.
So at this moment, even though he had shut down the Main Audio-Visual Radar and Second Audio-Visual Radar, he was fully aware of every subtle detail of the terrain within a ten-kilometer radius around this Hilltop!
He could even calculate within a second which direction those four Mutants would choose to cross over this Hilltop and which route would be the fastest. Thus, he could selectively avoid them!
Of course, the third factor was the ten-kilometer distance between Lin Yuan and those four Mutants. He had no idea how fast their Beast Motorcycles could go or their acceleration speed. Therefore, that ten-kilometer distance was the only uncertain variable.
But Lin Yuan had no other choice.
In less than two seconds after making these rapid judgments, he quickly bent down and ran toward the Hilltop based on his memorized terrain in his Intellect.
At this moment, his entire action plan was a gamble; if any part went wrong, he would surely meet his end!
Since this Hilltop sloped gently toward Lin Yuan's side and he had already memorized all surface features in his Intellect, there was no room for error. In just six seconds, he returned to the position of that giant rock—only to find that it had been blasted into a massive pit!
Without hesitation, Lin Yuan jumped directly into the pit, remaining completely still while shutting down the energy supply to both Mechanical Legs, allowing the output of the Energy Engine to drop below 95%.
This was a very dangerous threshold; if it continued to decrease, Lin Yuan would enter a dormant state, and that would spell disaster for him.
At that moment, a massive roar surged from less than five hundred meters away. The four Beast Motorcycles were like four ferocious dragons, shaking the ground beneath them. This small hilltop was easily crossed as if it were merely a ditch.
From the moment Lin Yuan was discovered and struck by a Rocket Launcher, to him tumbling down the hilltop and finally crawling back up to hide in the shell crater, no more than fifteen seconds had passed. Yet, those four Beast Motorcycles had already covered a distance of ten kilometers. This meant that the minimum speed of each Beast Motorcycle was six meters per second. Considering the time taken for the four Mutant Humans to mount their bikes, start them up, and accelerate, their maximum speed could reach one thousand meters per second—equivalent to sixty kilometers per hour!
It was important to note that this wasn't on a smooth professional racetrack; the thick tires of the Beast Motorcycles created significant resistance. Achieving such speed while possessing such terrifying impact was nothing short of a nightmare!
However, Lin Yuan had won his gamble. The search instruments indeed used the fluctuations emitted by the Energy Engine as their detection standard. Moreover, it turned out to be a counterfeit; when he reduced the Energy Output to its lowest level, the search instruments became blind. Even with a straight-line distance of only five hundred meters, there was no reaction whatsoever!
Additionally, his choice of hiding in the crater avoided detection from the four Mutants, successfully passing the first hurdle!
But now, with Lin Yuan having shut down both the Main Audio-Visual Radar and Second Audio-Visual Radar, he had no way of knowing whether he had deceived those four Mutants. He could only rely on his Intellect's calculations and determine what actions those Mutants might take after crossing over the hilltop without finding their target.
"Four... three... two... one. Four... three... two... one. Four... three... two... one!"
After precisely calculating for twelve seconds within his Intellect, Lin Yuan decisively restored power to his Mechanical Legs and then leaped out of the Deep Pit, charging toward where the four Mutants had previously gathered around their campfire!
His twelve-second countdown was based on reasoning.
First, since he had not been discovered while hiding in the Deep Pit, it confirmed that all his previous assumptions were correct. Thus, he could quickly deduce the speed of those four Beast Motorcycles.
At the same time, he was betting that the Mutant Leader must have recognized his identity—at least that he was a Mechanical Warrior. Otherwise, if he were merely a Mutated Mechanical Mouse, those four Mutants would not have gone so crazy as to mobilize all their forces.
Based on this assumption, Lin Yuan believed there were two possibilities: First, the Mutant Leader considered him insignificant and was purely torturing a Mechanical Warrior for sport.
Second, that Mutant Leader understood Lin Yuan's current identity. After all, since the last Executive had been exiled and bankrupted, it had been over a hundred Mechanical Years since a Mechanical Warrior had appeared on Earth. Now that one suddenly emerged—combined with Lin Yuan's previous ambush—it was highly likely that this Mutant Leader knew Lin Yuan was the Executive of Sub-base S-5!
If it were the first possibility, Lin Yuan's chances of survival would be 999% doomed because if those four Mutants couldn't find any trace of him on this hilltop, they would surely search nearby. After all, they would think that an ant couldn't possibly escape too far in just fifteen seconds!
However, if that was the second possibility, then the Mutant Leader would certainly hold Lin Yuan in high regard. After all, as an Executive of a Sub-base, he must have some skills; that's only natural.
Therefore, the Mutant Leader would think that Lin Yuan's reaction would be equally swift. He would cross the Hilltop and immediately board a flying vehicle or some other means of transportation to make his escape.
So, they would signal each other while dispersing to pursue him!
But how could they know that Lin Yuan, while indeed an Executive of the Sub-base, was already so broke that he had to pawn his pants? Where would he find any transportation?
Because of this, the twelve-second countdown represented Lin Yuan's perceived safety limit. If all his assumptions were correct!
And it turned out that Lin Yuan had once again made the right bet. After the four Mutants rushed down from the Hilltop, they not only did not pause for a moment but instead split into four teams to chase after him while simultaneously sending out signals. Within three minutes, three flying vehicles rose from the night sky in the southwest, precisely the Mouse One before Lin Yuan's modifications!
Without a doubt, Lin Yuan's identity had been exposed to all the resistance forces on Earth; otherwise, there wouldn't be such a scale of pursuit.
As for Lin Yuan, after the twelve-second countdown ended, he sprinted toward the campfire while starting a new forty-eight-second countdown.
When this forty-eight seconds elapsed, he immediately boosted the output of the Energy Engine to its maximum while activating both the Main Audio-Visual Radar and the Second Audio-Visual Radar, along with all his Weapon Systems.
He charged forward with full force!
At this point, he should have long since escaped the range of the Mutant Leader's tracking instruments.
