Number 1, Vasherlin Street, sounded like an utterly ordinary place, at least in Lin Yuan's imagination. He had already witnessed the grim reality of Mechanical City, particularly the lower depths of F District, which could only be described as a slum.
D District, two levels above F District, was expected to be significantly better. However, when Lin Yuan arrived at the so-called Number 1 Vasherlin Street via a transport robot, he was left speechless.
This was not a street at all, nor was there any sign of a Number 1. The only thing present was a port that stretched out beneath the starry sky. On one side lay the vast expanse of the cosmos, while on the other was a massive Steel Corridor extending outward. Surrounding this Steel Corridor were countless gigantic tentacles resembling those of a Tentacle Monster, branching out like tree limbs. At the end of each branch was either a large or small Automatic Landing and Takeoff Adhesion Platform.
On these platforms, like ants scurrying about, numerous Starships took off and landed every moment. Among them were even more Transport Ships, smaller in size but buzzing around like swarms of flies. They either supplied resources to the Starships preparing for takeoff or unloaded cargo brought back from them.
Within the range covered by Lin Yuan's Auditory Radar, he estimated there were over fifty thousand landing platforms. More than ten thousand Starships took off or landed every minute. As for the cargo throughput, it was beyond comprehension; just one of the largest Starships here dwarfed even Earth's biggest aircraft carriers by several times.
After staring blankly into space for a moment, Lin Yuan contacted the B-Month Adventurers' Travel Group because it was impossible for him to find them on his own in such a situation.
Fortunately, in Mechanical City, any information related to commerce was always quick and convenient.
In less than a minute, a mechanical speedboat appeared steadily before Lin Yuan. The driver, an enthusiastic individual of an unknown race, called out to him.
"Hello! Are you Mr. Mu? I am a member of the B-Month Adventurers' Travel Group, here to assist you. Feel free to ask me any questions. However, before we proceed, I need to confirm whether you have truly decided to join us for a five-year adventure trip."
"Of course! I am looking forward to embarking on a new adventure. If I can also earn a substantial fortune along the way, that would be even better. Please lead the way," Lin Yuan replied politely, feeling a growing sense of anticipation within him.
"Ha ha, welcome aboard, Mr. Mu! I hope we have a pleasant collaboration over the next five Mechanical Years. By the way, I am an Elan Shaher, and you can call me Elan!"
Under the guidance of this member of the B-Month Adventurers, Lin Yuan traversed through a series of rising and falling platforms. It felt like wandering through a maze; just when Lin Yuan thought he was close to his destination, Elan would effortlessly turn around and lead him into yet another maze.
Finally, at a seemingly remote Automatic Landing and Takeoff Adhesion Platform, Elan came to a stop. At this point, Lin Yuan already knew they had arrived at their destination without needing any introduction. On that adhesion platform rested an impressively extravagant half Interstellar Exploration Ship. The ship's bridge was adorned with bold red and white colors displaying the words B-Month Adventurers, alongside a plethora of graffiti that showcased distinct personalities. If it weren't for its vast size, Lin Yuan might have thought he was witnessing the popular toilet culture from the 1st century again.
As the saying goes, each field has its own expertise. Lin Yuan immediately noticed the ship's equipment and began generating a wealth of data in his Intellect. In a short time, he could tell that this exploration ship had undergone significant overall modifications: it had stronger propulsion, longer endurance, and insightful shielding capabilities. As for its firepower, he couldn't determine that just yet.
Overall, from the perspective of Mechanical Assembly, this exploration ship was more than capable of handling a five-year interstellar expedition.
Next, Lin Yuan observed the busy members of the adventurer team surrounding the ship. Including himself, there were over five hundred adventurers present. If one counted those inside the exploration ship as well, the total number would approach a thousand. This scale sounded impressive; however, Lin Yuan knew that in this era of interstellar development—especially in Mechanical City—having thousands of people was hardly remarkable.
Mechanical City gathered hundreds of interstellar races. Just among humans who migrated from Earth and descendants of Mars colonists, there were billions in population—not to mention those races that reproduced as prolifically as wild boars.
Adding to that were the Mechanical Life forms produced on assembly lines; the number of living entities in this vast Mechanical City could easily be described in trillions.
However, numbers weren't everything. A team of five thousand adventurers might not necessarily be strong; conversely, even a team of fifty could prove formidable.
Zhou Yue focused on observing these individuals' races, strengths, and other analyses. After all, if he decided to join B-Month Adventurers, he would be living alongside them for an extended period in the future. Thus, making sound judgments and analyses at this moment was crucial.
Just then, a burly figure nearly four meters tall approached Zhou Yue. He resembled an Earthling and extended his right hand with a hearty laugh: "Ha ha! Friend, welcome aboard! I am Duke, the leader of B-Month Adventurers, codename Mars Ugly. May I ask if you prefer the Full-Service Adventure Mode or Half-Mercenary Adventure Mode? The former requires a payment of 100,000 Mechanical Coins while the latter only needs 10,000 Mechanical Coins. Additionally, you will qualify for loot sharing; however, there's one condition—you must follow orders. Otherwise, we won't hesitate to leave you on some unknown planet."
"Hello!" Lin Yuan extended his Mechanical Arm to shake hands with this fellow named Duke. This man had already reached E7 level strength and dared to shake hands with a Mechanical Warrior; he appeared to be a descendant of Mars colonists and was even more robust than Earthlings.
"I choose the Half-Mercenary Adventure Mode, but I have a question. If I decide to temporarily leave during the adventure, is that allowed?"
"Of course, no problem. You can come and go as you please. However, I must inform you that the Mechanical Coin you paid will not be refunded at all. Are you satisfied with that answer? If there are no issues, go report to Mace V. From now on, you are assigned to the B-Month Adventurers Third Guard Squad. I wish you a pleasant journey!" Duke replied readily before leaving. In the distance, on a large automatic landing platform, a massive figure emerged—it was an e5 level Mechanical Shield Warrior, who nodded at Lin Yuan, clearly indicating that this was the so-called Mace V.
"It seems that the overall strength of the B-Month Adventurers is quite formidable!"
