"Is it really like this..."
Lin Yuan was stunned for a moment. He had to admit that the enhancement from the Ghost Title was quite impressive. Although it didn't provide any attack bonuses, it perfectly compensated for his shortcomings in combat.
It was important to note that Lin Yuan's current strength was already considerable, but he was lacking in tactical warning and Tactical Analysis, especially after Claire betrayed him and left.
However, this new skill from the Ghost Grid would undoubtedly allow him to gain more advantages in battle, and its range could expand to fifty cubic kilometers. Once this skill activated, he could quickly pinpoint the weaknesses of his opponents.
The only regret was that the duration of the Ghost Grid was only three seconds, and it consumed five units of Soul Energy per second, with a cooldown time of six hours.
Given Lin Yuan's current total of Soul Energy, he could only use it a limited three times at most.
It seemed that for now, he would have to wait until the most critical moment to deploy it.
At this point, after completing so many preparations in one breath, only two minutes and thirty-two seconds had passed. His Third Mechanical Arm was almost fully installed.
Lin Yuan certainly wouldn't waste even a moment of time. From what he observed in the first round, the second round would undoubtedly be even more challenging and possibly more twisted, so he needed to prepare as thoroughly as possible.
After rechecking the sharpness of his Heavy Greatblade, Lin Yuan suddenly remembered something. When he first entered the Ninth Training Base, he had met a guy named Jellyfish. This individual was very dedicated to long-range fire coverage as a Mechanical Warrior and excelled at modifying various powerful firearms and Energy Cannons.
Back then, Lin Yuan had borrowed Jellyfish's Mechanical House to assemble a semi-finished Grenade launcher for himself, which could also be referred to as a semi-finished shotgun. According to Jellyfish's assessment, it was big, clumsy, and lacked any aesthetic craftsmanship.
To make matters worse, the accuracy of the Grenade launcher that Lin Yuan named Devourer was abysmal. By Earthlings' standards, its effective range could only reach within five hundred meters. Jellyfish had mocked Lin Yuan mercilessly for this.
It was known that any Mechanical Warrior above level e1 had incredibly fast reaction speeds; they wouldn't even dare show their faces without at least ten times the speed of sound.
What use was a striking distance of five hundred meters?
But for Lin Yuan, he didn't believe that his Devourer was ineffective; it just depended on choosing the right moment to fire. However, due to various circumstances later on, he never got around to further assembling this semi-finished Grenade launcher.
Now that he found himself in this damned Death Simulation Space, he naturally needed to prepare more trump cards. Thus, an idea suddenly struck him.
In just under two minutes, it was clear that there wouldn't be enough time to perfect the modifications on the half-finished Devourer. Therefore, Lin Yuan decided to equip it as it was. As for the ammunition, he kept it simple. He rummaged through the junk pile in the Fifth Key's space and quickly assembled a crude and rugged belt of ammunition, which he loaded into the First Mechanical Arm's empty chamber. The ammo consisted of ready-made freezing rounds, of which he had purchased quite a few earlier.
After this flurry of activity, five minutes passed swiftly. Then, without any warning, a massive bubble vortex appeared around Lin Yuan's Mechanical Body, roaring as it swept him away!
In an instant, Lin Yuan's Mechanical Body lost its center of gravity, and before he could devise a plan, the force of the vortex suddenly vanished. Immediately after, several terrifying impacts struck his Mechanical Body, nearly reducing it to ruins!
"Damn it! An ambush! Can it get any more despicable?"
Lin Yuan cursed angrily in his heart. He had anticipated that this second stage would be more shameless than the first, but he never expected it to be this extreme—being subjected to such a fierce attack right as he entered the arena had already caused significant damage to his Mechanical Body.
In that brief moment of chaos, Lin Yuan used his Auditory Radar to pinpoint the source of the ambush. It turned out to be a dozen Elyda Mutant Insect Clan members, each more ferocious than a Tyrannosaurus Rex from Earth. Their massive bodies and four scythe-like claws were terrifying; those very claws had dealt him such a heavy blow.
Clearly, this stage was designed to counter the previous one. These Elyda Mutant Insect Clan members were incredibly agile with an extensive attack range and formidable lethality. Just a glancing blow could inflict injury. Under such circumstances, it was absolutely impossible for Lin Yuan to employ his Gale Evasion Skill with the same ease as before.
At that moment, the dozen or so Elyda Mutant Insect Clan members showed no mercy; they hissed and screeched as they leapt into action, coordinating their movements in a formation that provided mutual cover as they charged toward Lin Yuan!
Seeing this scene made Lin Yuan furious because these Elyda Mutant Insect Clan members were comparable to a dozen E7-level Swift Hunters. Was this not pushing him toward certain doom?
With no other choice, Lin Yuan activated the ghostly invisibility feature of his Ghost Title and quickly retreated just in time to avoid being overwhelmed by the swarm of Elyda Mutant Insect Clan members. Then he activated the Ghost Assault Trait; while his Mechanical Body continued to retreat, he spun around and slashed back at one of them!
With a clang, Lin Yuan's strike was powerful and precise as it hit an Elyda Insectoid at its leg joint. However, to his astonishment, the blow did nothing at all; aside from a shower of sparks flying off, there was no visible damage!
Their Enhancement Level had exceeded 100 points!
This was ridiculous!
In that split second, Lin Yuan's invisibility was roughly locked onto by the dozen Elyda Mutant Insect Clan members. With a swish sound, several blobs of pitch-black liquid surged toward Lin Yuan's position!
There was no need for intellect analysis; it was clear that these blobs of venom were not something to be trifled with.
At this moment, continuing to remain hidden was no longer meaningful. Lin Yuan quickly returned to normal, his Mechanical Body bending down as he executed a swift strike, spinning and rolling outward in an arc to evade. This was an extremely difficult maneuver within Swift Evasion, yet Lin Yuan performed it effortlessly, his Mechanical Body moving in perfect harmony without a single flaw.
After evading in that instant, Lin Yuan's Mechanical Body maintained its speed, using the momentum to spiral and deliver another strike with the reverse hand!
The entire process unfolded almost in the blink of an eye, but if one were to slow it down, they would see that Lin Yuan's movements revolved around arcs: rolling in arcs, slashing in arcs, evading in arcs, and charging in arcs!
With a clang, this strike still yielded no results; however, the trajectory of the slash sparked a moment of enlightenment within Lin Yuan!
Perhaps it was an illusion or some mysterious intuition, but Lin Yuan felt a vague piece of data within his Intellect being unlocked. Unlike the previous two instances where the vague data appeared unexpectedly and passively, this time it felt as if Lin Yuan had discovered the key to open Alibaba's Treasure Vault. Although the entire process was fleeting and left no trace, the content within that stream of data was closely related to what Lin Yuan was currently contemplating!
"Beep! ID 1496871, you have successfully comprehended the e5 level combat skill, Arc Slash. You have gained 0 Modification Points and 0% fusion degree between Intellect and Mechanical Body..."
"Now I understand..."
In that instant, Lin Yuan seemed to grasp something significant. However, he had no time to ponder further because the dozen or so Elyda Mutant Insect Clan members displayed remarkably high learning abilities. After witnessing his arc-based evasions several times, they immediately adapted their attacks to become even more coordinated, forcing him into a frantic struggle!
