The five-day Grand Celebration had come to an end. The updates were coming in fast.
During this time, Luo Mengqi and Qiong were having a blast, while Sima Chuan and Qiong took the opportunity to learn about the places where Nai frequently appeared. However, there were still some locations they could not pry into. One such place was inside Nai Hall, which Sima Chuan and the others had no chance of entering, so they entrusted the surveillance to the Noel Battleship. Another location was a large Mechanical Technology Testing Ground, which was also handed over to the Noel Battleship for monitoring.
Today, at Butch's house.
Sima Chuan and the others were gathered in Butch's room when Adela spoke up first. "Chuan, I felt something strange when I first met you. I wonder if you felt it too?"
After Adela's remark, everyone present turned their gaze toward Sima Chuan, waiting for his response.
"Yes, it’s a very strange feeling," Sima Chuan replied directly.
"Hmph." Upon hearing Sima Chuan's answer, Luo Mengqi turned her head away. Then they heard Sima Chuan say, "It feels like a kindred spirit connection."
"You must be feeling quite strange, right?" Adela smiled at Sima Chuan. He nodded in agreement.
"Just show your right arm and we’ll know."
When Sima Chuan revealed his entire right arm, Betis gasped in surprise. "This is the Marriage Mark from Starlight City! How do you have it? Could it be..." Betis glanced between Sima Chuan and Adela, and the answer seemed obvious.
Sima Chuan himself didn’t know what the mark on his arm was. He had thought it was a scar when he was younger, but as he grew older, he realized it couldn’t possibly be a scar because it was too complete and bore characters that looked like they had been directly imprinted.
Luo Mengqi and the others stared at Sima Chuan in astonishment, especially Betis’s reaction. Betis rushed up to Sima Chuan and grabbed his arm. When she saw the mark on his arm, she froze in shock. Adela had already anticipated Betis's reaction and wasn’t surprised by it. However, Sima Chuan was puzzled and asked, "What’s wrong?"
Only upon hearing Sima Chuan’s voice did Betis snap back to reality. She looked at him in astonishment and slowly said, "Adela, the name on here is Adela."
"What?" Although Sima Chuan had an inkling of what it meant, he couldn’t help but be shocked by Betis's answer.
Upon hearing Betis's words, Qiong quickly recalled everything from when she first met Butch until now. Suddenly, she understood and turned to look at Butch. Butch met her gaze with a smile and nodded before stepping forward. "That’s right; Chuan is Noel, the grandson of Markett who disappeared more than a decade ago."
After receiving this revelation, everyone present felt a mix of emotions. Qiong appeared very happy while Luo Mengqi felt a complex swirl of feelings inside her. When Yiling noticed Luo Mengqi's expression, her mood also dipped.
"Butch" paid no mind to their feelings and continued, "And I'm not looking for him just because Chuan's body is perfect."
After Butch said this, Sima Chuan and the others looked at him warily, but Butch didn't care. He smiled and said, "More than a decade ago, after Qiong and Akapa left, Markett sent Noel away, and the place he was sent to was Earth."
"How do you know this so clearly?" Sima Chuan thought aloud, only to be interrupted by Qiong.
"Heh, it's simple. I'm very familiar with Markett—more familiar than anyone else."
"Since Noel has already been found, then where is Markett the Sage?" It was Adela who asked. She didn't have much of a feeling towards Sima Chuan at the moment. However, Markett the Sage was very important; after all, he had made significant contributions to the entire DR-5 planet.
Butch was about to speak when Sima Chuan stepped in front of him, took a deep breath, and asked with a trembling voice, "So you are my grandfather Markett?"
Butch was taken aback and then burst into laughter. "That's right; there is no such person as Butch here. That was just a name I created to conceal my identity."
"Grandfather."
"Sage."
Sima Chuan and Qiong rushed to Markett and embraced him. Tears of joy streamed down Markett's face. "Children, you've worked hard."
"It's not hard at all, not at all," Sima Chuan and Qiong replied in unison.
"That's wonderful! Then Sage, please come with me to Star Palace; my father and the others are there," Adela urged excitedly.
"No, I can't appear just yet," Markett refused. Then he changed the subject. "Wait for me a moment; I'll be back soon."
A few minutes later, an elderly man walked into the room. His hair was tied back, he wore light clothing, and his face bore a smile that made him look particularly spirited. Qiong immediately recognized him. "Sage."
"Yes," Markett replied. He had reverted from Butch's appearance back to his original form, even changing into new clothes. After more than ten years apart, he looked at Sima Chuan closely, wanting to take it all in. He remembered when Sima Chuan was just an infant; he had entrusted such an important matter to him. Thinking of this made Markett sigh deeply; the spirit he had moments ago was gone, replaced by a look of guilt.
"Grandfather, what's wrong?" Sima Chuan asked curiously as he noticed the change in Markett.
“Noel, I’m sorry for what I did.”
“Grandpa, what are you talking about? Why would you be sorry to me?” Sima Chuan smiled faintly.
“Ah, I shouldn’t have done that back then,” Markett said, looking at Sima Chuan with guilt.
“Sage, you should reveal what happened back then. I believe Noel would forgive you if he knew what you did,” Adela added, glancing at Sima Chuan. Luo Mengqi looked at Markett, then at Sima Chuan, and finally at Adela, unsure of what she was thinking.
“Then I will,” Markett wiped his eyes and continued, “Back then, I created a new type of Mechanical Soldier called Crimson Face that could merge with humans. Once merged, it would surpass all other types of Mechanical Soldiers. Even before merging, it had capabilities beyond those of regular Mechanical Soldiers. Nai had long harbored ambitions to dominate our universe and even transform other lower-level planets into his own.”
“How is that possible?” Adela and Betis exchanged glances, both shocked.
“Yes, I didn’t know at first either. It wasn’t until Nai came to find me and revealed his intentions that I understood. Nai had hidden his plans too deeply.”
“No wonder my father allowed Nai to take control of a city; Nai only wanted to protect Starlight City and ensure its safety,” Adela sighed.
“Nai had already made his plans,” Markett continued. “At that time, I was solely focused on researching this technology and ignored everything else, so I rejected Nai’s request. Unexpectedly, Nai secretly dispatched a new type of Mechanical Legion to Stirco Town to cause chaos, hoping to force me to hand over the technology. Just as I was hesitating, the captain of the security team, Xingrui, led the team to confront the Mechanical Legion for the peace of the town, but in the end, she failed.” At this point, tears involuntarily streamed down Markett's face.
“So that’s how the out-of-control Mechanical Soldier incident happened back then,” Adela said. She had heard some stories from that time; part of Stirco Town had been directly destroyed, but she never imagined it was all intentional.
