“Qiong, are you done with everything?” Sima Chuan asked, looking at Qiong, who was busy tinkering with something.
“Almost there,” Qiong replied as she began the next step of her task.
After some time had passed.
“Done,” Qiong exhaled, playing with the object in her hands.
Sima Chuan looked at the item in Qiong's hand with a puzzled expression and asked, “Are you sure this thing is useful?”
Qiong nodded confidently. “It’s useful.”
“Alright then, let’s give it a try.” Sima Chuan lay back on the technological bed. Qiong placed the cube on Sima Chuan's forehead, and then the cube emitted blue lines that seemed to draw patterns all over his body.
Sima Chuan felt his eyes starting to blur, his consciousness gradually fading.
Qiong also placed a similar cube on her forehead and slowly drifted off to sleep.
Sima Chuan rubbed his eyes and realized he was no longer in Qiong's Technology Room but had instead been transported underground to the Mechanical Recycling facility, where the Time Reversal Device stood before him.
“How is it?” A flash of light appeared, and Qiong materialized beside Sima Chuan. He turned to look at her and asked, “Is this the virtual training scenario you set up?”
“Of course! Isn’t this what we’re training for?” Qiong gestured around. Sima Chuan took in his surroundings: Markett, several Sages repairing the Time Reversal Device, followed by Aitak and Steward, and finally a few city lords and Regional Leaders.
As Sima Chuan gazed in astonishment, Markett approached him and patted his shoulder with a serious expression. “Noel, Qiong, time is running short. I won’t say much more, but you must remember to come back alive. Otherwise, I will spend my entire life researching the Time Reversal Device just to bring you back.” Although they knew this was all virtual, Sima Chuan and Qiong still responded to Markett’s words.
“Don’t worry, Grandpa. Qiong and I will definitely come back safe.”
“Rest assured, Sage. Chuan and I will return safely.”
“Good. When the time comes, you two go in,” Markett nodded and said.
Sima Chuan and Qiong looked at the Time Reversal Device as it slowly opened a 'door.' They exchanged a glance before stepping inside. Then, an electronic voice echoed.
"All systems ready, countdown begins."
"Ten."
"Nine."
"Eight."
"Seven."
...
As Sima Chuan and Qiong watched, the scene before them changed, and they found themselves standing in a corridor filled with black, white, and blue. Moments later, the scenery shifted again, and Sima Chuan noticed that the buildings around them had taken on an old appearance.
Sima Chuan looked at Qiong with confusion and asked, "Is it really this simple?" Qiong smiled and explained, "I've set up multiple scenarios, just like a level in a game. The first level is the easiest."
"Got it. Let's move on."
"Let's go." Qiong turned around, revealing a black 'hole' in front of him. Without hesitation, he stepped inside, with Sima Chuan following closely behind.
Sima Chuan and Qiong stood side by side, but this time the duration of their time travel was longer compared to their first experience. A wind began to swirl within the 'hole,' tearing Sima Chuan's clothes to shreds. "What’s happening?"
"Time-Space Wind," Qiong explained. "It's something you encounter while traveling through time and space, and it's quite powerful. If you're not careful, you could get hurt. However, whether this Time-Space Wind truly exists is still uncertain; it's just a hypothesis I made, but I decided to include it anyway."
Soon after, Sima Chuan and Qiong found themselves in front of the Virtual Time Reversal Device once more. After another round of farewells, they began their Virtual Time Travel Training.
After several iterations of the Virtual Time Travel Training, Qiong gradually improved the training device, incorporating every possible scenario that might arise.
Sima Chuan and Qiong were making their final preparations. Luo Mengqi and the others had been informed by Aitak and Markett that Sima Chuan and Qiong needed to go elsewhere to find Nai. At first, the three girls, along with Yiling, insisted on accompanying Sima Chuan and Qiong. However, after persistent persuasion from Sima Chuan and Qiong, they finally settled down. The four girls made it clear that upon Sima Chuan and Qiong's return, there were certain conditions that must be agreed upon. A sudden sense of foreboding washed over Sima Chuan and Qiong.
"Let's set the time for tomorrow, shall we?" Sima Chuan asked.
"Yes, tomorrow it is," Qiong replied, glancing at Yiling, who was playfully messing around with Luo Mengqi and the others.
Sima Chuan sat down next to Qiong, patted her shoulder, and smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry; everything will be fine."
"Mm." Qiong nodded with a bittersweet smile.
"Alright then." Sima Chuan stood up, stretched his arms wide, and gazed into the distance. "The weather is so nice today; let's forget everything else and enjoy some fun with them."
"You're right; let's forget about everything else and cherish this last moment," Qiong said as she walked alongside Sima Chuan toward Luo Mengqi and the others.
Under the sunlight, the figures of Sima Chuan and Qiong appeared particularly bright.
For the rest of the day, Sima Chuan and Qiong played joyfully with Luo Mengqi and the others, each face adorned with a happy smile.
Later that evening in Luo Mengqi's room.
Yiling couldn't fall asleep no matter how hard she tried. She felt that Qiong's behavior today was a bit unusual—seemingly more enthusiastic than usual.
Feeling uneasy, Yiling asked Luo Mengqi, "Elder sister, don't you think Sima Chuan and Qiong are acting a bit strange today?"
Luo Mengqi was reminiscing about her time with Sima Chuan earlier that day when Yiling interrupted her thoughts. Without hesitation, she shot Yiling a glare and said, "Silly girl, what are you thinking? Aren't they going somewhere else to look for Nai? They must be feeling a bit reluctant, so they're trying to make it up to us in this way."
"That makes sense," Yiling murmured softly to herself.
"You!" Luo Mengqi poked Yiling's forehead playfully. "Just be content; Qiong is so wonderful. I just don't understand why that idiot Sima Chuan is so popular—so many girls like him. Hmph! He better watch out in the future."
"Hehe." Yiling giggled and asked, "Sister, how is the plan regarding Sima Chuan going?"
"It's still in progress. Betis is easier to handle, but Adela is a tough nut to crack. Her education is something we can't compare to."
"Then you need to work hard, sister. Hehe."
"Mm," Luo Mengqi nodded. "Alright, let's go to sleep. I'm really exhausted today."
The next day, Sima Chuan and Qiong said goodbye to Luo Mengqi and the others.
Luo Mengqi threatened Sima Chuan, saying, "If you bring back another 'girl,' I will make sure you regret it." She even showed him her fist. "Me too, me too," Betis chimed in. "At that time, I will help Sister Luo Mengqi and Adela deal with you." Betis then pulled Adela over, who just smiled without saying anything.
"Oh dear!" Betis shook Adela's arm. "Adela, don't always be so forgiving towards him. Just like Sister Luo Mengqi said, the more lenient you are, the more he will take advantage of it."
"Alright." Adela released Betis and smiled at Sima Chuan. "I believe you're a sensible person, right? Otherwise, it wouldn't be good if something happened when you come back."
Sima Chuan forced a smile and said, "Don't worry, I'm just going to find Nai."
"Chuan, let's go. They're all waiting for us," Qiong transformed into a Hoverboard and hovered beside Sima Chuan to help him out of the situation.
