Kapa City, due to its rainfall, has an extensive sewer system. However, no matter how large the sewers are, the stench that permeates the air cannot be changed. 0

With a soft sound, a beam of light appeared in the Dark Sewers, revealing the figures of Yang Xiaoyou and his two companions. 0

At that moment, the three stood on the narrow banks of the sewer, where murky black water flowed, exuding a foul odor. This wastewater also contained a dark red hue and a hint of blood. 0

"Not bad. The recent rainfall has been below average; otherwise, we would have been wading through this filth. Brother, you saved my life. If you ever need help, just contact us," Noah said, patting his chest and then giving Nobunaga Hideyoshi a reassuring shoulder pat. 0

"Hey? This isn't how it was supposed to go," Yang Xiaoyou replied with a hint of frustration. When Luo Guohui had rescued them, he had only had a meal to offer and had sold it directly to Luo Guohui. Now, after being saved by him, he found himself in a position where he could only ask for help. 0

It should be noted that Yang Xiaoyou had waited until they were completely out of options before stepping in to assist them. If he had delayed even a few seconds longer, they might have been injured. The outcome was far from what he had anticipated. 0

Selling one's life for another and asking for help in times of trouble are two entirely different levels of commitment. 0

"Is this even humanly possible? What a joke," Yang Xiaoyou thought, his expression conflicted beneath the strange Black Hood. 0

However, it wasn't the right time to voice his thoughts; something must have gone wrong at some point. 0

"Giving my life... well, perhaps that's where the issue lies," Yang Xiaoyou mused as his mind raced through the events. 0

When Luo Guohui had rescued them, he had done so with overwhelming force, swiftly taking down the nearby Corpse and leading them to safety. 0

Although Yang Xiaoyou's shooting skills were decent when he intervened, they paled in comparison to Luo Guohui's dominating power. 0

In the world of Mercenaries, strength is revered; those with power earn respect. Luo Guohui's display of such extraordinary strength had undoubtedly left a significant impact on them. 0

So they were risking their lives for Luo Guohui, while he had not demonstrated any power that would earn their trust. They were merely helping him; one was following with a low profile, while the other was offering assistance from a position of authority. 0

"Sigh, I’m a potential stock here," Yang Xiaoyou said, rubbing his head after adjusting the strange helmet. He felt a bit overwhelmed by the situation before him. 0

The plan he had devised required two trustworthy fellows to assist him, and Noah and Nobunaga Hideyoshi were the perfect candidates. 0

"Is something wrong?" At that moment, Nobunaga Hideyoshi, who had been silent, interrupted Yang Xiaoyou's daze with his uniquely cool voice. 0

"No, nothing. Let’s go. If we keep moving forward, we should reach Feir Street. We need to rescue a researcher," Yang Xiaoyou replied calmly after regaining his composure, concealing his emotions. 0

"A researcher? Who?" Hearing that Yang Xiaoyou wanted to rescue someone in this situation made Noah frown. However, since his life had been saved by the other party, he set aside his discomfort regarding what felt like an order. 0

"Elder Josen," Yang Xiaoyou said lightly as he led the way with a flashlight. 0

"Huh? The one who developed the Anti-Lock Electromagnetic Interference System? No way, how could such an important person be here?" Noah responded in astonishment upon hearing Yang Xiaoyou's answer. 0

"In the eyes of some people, these researchers are merely political tools. The death of a legendary scientist during this turmoil could benefit certain politicians," Yang Xiaoyou replied calmly. 0

Upon hearing this response, both Noah and Nobunaga Hideyoshi felt a bit surprised by this suddenly appearing strange fellow; he seemed to have become somewhat enigmatic. 0

Yet beneath the helmet, Yang Xiaoyou was sweating slightly. His memories of the years following the incident in Kapa City were mostly based on being a White Mouse; he did not know much about the world situation. 0

Fortunately, he had learned about Elder Josen's death during the 617 incident from some publications after emerging from that experience; after all, this fellow was too famous. 0

The Electromagnetic Anti-Lock Field was a groundbreaking invention created by Elder Josen. Its emergence nearly pushed medium- and long-range air-to-air and anti-ship cruise missiles off the historical stage. 0

It was precisely because of the emergence of the Anti-Lock Field that the development of the Universal Humanoid Combat Weapon was prioritized on the research agendas of various countries. Although by the time Yang Xiaoyou's memories ended, only a few prototypes had been produced, the changes in conventional localized combat methods had already become clear. 0

Unfortunately, a scientist who made such significant contributions indirectly fell victim to political struggles he could not comprehend. 0

Initially, Yang Xiaoyou had excluded the plan to rescue Elder Josen from his agenda due to overwhelming uncertainties within his half-month plan. 0

However, he now had to prove something to these two fellows. Since it was still difficult for him to demonstrate enough force to intimidate them, he could only adopt an air of profound mystery and control over everything to deceive them. 0

He felt uncertain about this rescue plan. After all, it was different from personally participating in saving these two fellows; he only knew about Elder Josen's situation through a declassified news report released at that time. 0

Although he had a rough idea of the other party's current location, it was still uncertain whether they were alive. 0

To gain the trust of the two behind him, he had to take a gamble. Moreover, if he could earn Elder Josen's gratitude, it would make the next steps of his plan much smoother. 0

"If I had known earlier, I would have let one of them get bitten by a Corpse. The virus outbreak this time is probably the Eight strain. At that point, injecting them with Antibodies would have made them worship me like a god," Yang Xiaoyou muttered to himself, feeling that he was too soft-hearted. 0

However, even with the original Antibodies, the success rate would not reach 100%. If luck turned against him, it would be quite troublesome. 0

"Hmm, the initial report stated that he died in apartment number 7 on Phil Street, which was assigned to him for vacation. If he stayed in the apartment, then the Corpse should not have been able to enter; it was merely due to external interference that no one went to rescue him," Yang Xiaoyou speculated. 0

Following this direction through the sewer led to a basement of a property company on Feir Street. 0

That was how he and his companions escaped initially. It was also because they saved the two fellows behind them along the way and confirmed that Qi Menglu had already left the designated hotel that he was directly escorted away by those two fellows to follow Luo Guohui. 0

Since they had considered rescuing Elder Josen in their initial plan, some relevant memories were organized again. Now that an unexpected change had occurred and they were picking up this previously abandoned plan, it wasn't too rushed after all. 0

In the Dark Sewers, a beam of light that should not exist here slowly advanced, startling the scurrying rats. Compared to the clean fellow in the pocket of his coat, these sewer rats appeared rather disgusting. 0

Seeing the two of them on high alert, Yang Xiaoyou spoke up, "Rodents are not susceptible to airborne infections, so there's no need to worry; they are just ordinary rats." 0

Hearing Yang Xiaoyou's words, Nobunaga Hideyoshi's handsome face flashed with a hint of surprise. Hidden in the surrounding darkness, it seemed that this mysterious man who had saved them knew far more about the situation in Kapa City than an average person would. He wondered what kind of identity this person held. 0

"This is the place. You should understand now that they are sensitive to sound. Although I have given you guns, you must not use them unless absolutely necessary if you want to stay alive," Yang Xiaoyou said as they arrived at a narrow locked side door. He then took out a military crossbow hidden beneath his cloak and handed it to Nobunaga Hideyoshi. 0

As for Noah, he would stick to using his 16 properly. 0

Clearly feeling unfairly treated, Noah muttered to himself, "It’s good to have a pretty face." 0

With a 'bang', Noah kicked the door open and stepped forward with his 16 in hand, while Yang Xiaoyou pulled out a modified 9. 0

"FBI?" Nobunaga Hideyoshi raised an eyebrow at the uniquely modified weapon. 0

"You'll know when it's time," Yang Xiaoyou replied ambiguously. 0

If revealing his true self could earn their trust, Yang Xiaoyou would consider it. After all, the loyalty of these two fellows had been verified in his memories. 0

Unfortunately, if he showed his youthful appearance—much younger than Luo Guohui's—at a time when he couldn't demonstrate strong combat power, he would likely miss the chance to connect with them forever. 0

For now, it was best to keep them guessing and maintain an air of mystery. As long as he bought himself enough time, gaining their confidence would be absolutely no problem. 0

With a whoosh and a bang. 0

The crossbow bolt pierced through the head of an African Corpse, and Noah swung his weapon, smashing another Corpse's head with force. 0

Both were seasoned Mercenaries. Initially, they found themselves in crisis due to their lack of understanding of the Corpses. However, with the help of Yang Xiaoyou, who possessed skills to evade the Corpses, they quickly adapted. They managed to avoid as many Corpses as possible along the way, and when evasion was impossible, they coordinated to discreetly eliminate their targets. 0

Throughout their journey, both Noah and Nobunaga Hideyoshi transitioned from simple gratitude towards the mysterious man who had saved them to a mix of admiration and respect. 0

Yang Xiaoyou seemed to know everything about those Zombies called Corpses. He often could tell whether there were those repulsive creatures lurking behind obstacles without needing to investigate. 0

He never made a wrong judgment about when to bypass an area or when it was necessary to Clean Up. 0

Yang Xiaoyou was quite pleased with their cooperation. When he first left the Gun Supermarket and arrived at the meeting point with Luo Guohui, the distance was less than half of what they had covered this time, yet it took at least four times longer. 0

With the two of them working together, places that would have required detours could now be passed through easily. 0

"You are mine in life and mine in death; you won't escape this lifetime," Yang Xiaoyou said, noticing how useful they were becoming. Occasionally, he looked at them with a glint of greed in his eyes. 0
