In the corridor of a Luxury Apartment, it seemed as if everything had been painted red. The walls and floor were covered in a thick, sticky red liquid and fragments of organs, the stench of blood overwhelming. 0

Four Corpses quietly roamed the area. One, a balding, overweight middle-aged man, stood apart from the others at the staircase, his face marked with clear bite marks and one eye bulging out. 0

As he turned aimlessly, a shadow suddenly pressed against his back like a ghost. A delicate Palm silently held his chin, and with a sharp crack, his large head twisted unnaturally to the right. 0

Gently setting down the slightly plump Corpse, Yang Xiaoyou signaled to the two behind him with a Tactic gesture, indicating that each should take one of the three remaining unaware Corpses in the distance. 0

With Nobunaga Hideyoshi's crossbow bolt as a signal, Yang Xiaoyou and Noah charged forward. The Germanic brute swung his "big stick" with a roar, smashing one Corpse's skull to pieces. 0

However, before that, Yang Xiaoyou's military knife had already sliced through another Corpse's cervical spine with an eerie trajectory. 0

With a 40% limited unlock and an increase in physical abilities from Antibody injection, combined with Cognitive Acceleration, Yang Xiaoyou could handle a Corpse quite smoothly with bare hands—as long as he could control his Heart Point without cramping up. 0

Throughout their encounter, although Yang Xiaoyou didn't strike often, each action was executed perfectly. His fluid movements made it seem as though he was even stronger than Noah. 0

However, this came at a cost; Yang Xiaoyou felt muscle strains in his thighs and arms from overexertion. He relied on his brain's subjective control over his body to cut off certain reflexes to maintain natural movement. 0

Before each strike, he weighed his options carefully to ensure he could manage it while appearing coordinated and natural. 0

Aware of his physical condition, Yang Xiaoyou understood that although he seemed stronger than Noah in those few strikes, their strengths were still not on the same level. Noah's attacks were casual and ordinary while he was operating under extreme overload; it was only through good control that he appeared to attack effortlessly. 0

In a real fight for survival, Yang Xiaoyou estimated that even at full capacity, he wouldn't last three moves against Noah. Even if Noah's combat ability couldn't match Hank's—whom they had encountered by accident in the lab—it was likely not far off; an ordinary person would struggle to deal with him even with firearms. 0

Yang Xiaoyou was somewhat satisfied with his current state. After all, his body had yet to fully adapt, and he hadn't even started on his planned training. Transitioning from being a Nerd to this state was already quite impressive; at least the benefits he gained were significantly greater than what he remembered. 0

This should help compensate for some of the strange things that group of lunatics had done to him. 0

"Tch, these Zombies are just like this. By the way, why do you like calling them Corpses? Although they are indeed dead," Noah casually whistled. 0

After gradually understanding the characteristics of the Corpse through Yang Xiaoyou, the two seasoned Mercenaries, who had been tested by blood and fire, were also getting used to it. At the very least, dealing with this kind of fellow was much simpler than facing a fully armed warrior. 0

The only thing to be cautious about was their enormous numbers and the fact that being scratched would lead to elimination. 0

"If you get the chance, you'll understand why they're called Corpse, but I hope we don't have that opportunity," Yang Xiaoyou thought, feeling a chill at the memory of those terrifying figures. 0

"Is Dr. Elder in this apartment?" At that moment, Nobunaga Hideyoshi stepped forward, frowning as he looked around at the surroundings. 0

If there were still living people here, they would surely react to the noise outside or show some sign through the peephole. However, aside from the three of them, the atmosphere here felt eerily silent. 0

Hearing this, Yang Xiaoyou felt uneasy. Could it be that this fellow's luck was so bad that he had already met his end? But he didn't show it on his face. 0

Arriving at the corresponding door number, Yang Xiaoyou pressed the doorbell. After waiting for a while without any reaction, he decisively pulled out his gun and fired several shots at the door lock before kicking it open. 0

"Damn it!" As soon as he entered, Yang Xiaoyou saw an African Corpse dressed in a suit. The Corpse bore no wounds; it seemed to have been infected by the air. 0

Seeing this type of Corpse here made Yang Xiaoyou's heart sink. This person was likely Dr. Elder's bodyguard or assistant. He had thought that hiding in the apartment would be safe, but he never expected to encounter such a situation. 0

Stepping forward, fueled by anger and strength from his waist, Yang Xiaoyou executed a lightning-fast side kick that struck the charging Corpse's chin, sending it flying off the ground and crashing into a glass coffee table behind it, shattering it into pieces. 0

"Oh, our Dr. Elder... Hmm, this fellow doesn't quite fit," Noah remarked as he followed in, initially expressing some regret upon seeing the African Corpse on the ground before realizing that it was a Black man and not the frail White Man doctor from television. 0

Due to exerting too much force, Yang Xiaoyou felt a slight cramp in his leg and seemed to notice something. 0

"No bloodstains? Hmm..." Looking at the deceased man in black clothing, Yang Xiaoyou's heart stirred slightly. He then scanned the entire room and his gaze landed on a closed door. 0

After turning the doorknob several times and discovering that it was locked, Yang Xiaoyou gestured to Noah to come and break down the door. 0

Yang Xiaoyou's feet were still numb from the recent exertion, and after several uses of Cognitive Acceleration and over 40% of the limit, he began to feel a bit hungry again. Having created a strong first impression of being 'very powerful,' he estimated that his coolness factor had been sufficiently boosted. 0

Seeing Yang Xiaoyou's gesture, Noah kicked open the sturdy wooden door without hesitation. As he raised his gun and took in the scene inside, Yang Xiaoyou suddenly felt a bit crushed. 0

“Billy, wasn’t it strictly forbidden to disturb me? I’ll reheat my lunch once I come out,” said a disheveled man hunched over a computer, staring intently at some parameter graphs, oblivious to the chaos around him. 0

It seemed that the door had been opened 'gently' rather than kicked open violently. 0

In light of this, Yang Xiaoyou was unsure whether to laugh or cry. Well, at least it was good news that Elder Josen was still alive; it appeared that this fellow had no idea about the changes happening outside. 0

“Cool, it’s really Elder Josen himself,” Noah exclaimed. Nobunaga Hideyoshi glanced at Yang Xiaoyou; knowing about such cutting-edge researchers indicated that the other party had quite an impressive background. 0

“Doctor, we’ve come to get you,” Yang Xiaoyou said as he walked over and patted Elder Josen on the shoulder. 0

It was only then that the doctor, lost in his calculations, finally snapped back to reality. “Who are you? Who sent you? Where’s Billy?” 0

Seeing Yang Xiaoyou wearing a bizarre full-face black helmet and draped in a black cloak, Elder Josen remained composed. He didn’t panic at the sudden intrusion but there was still a strong sense of wariness in his eyes. 0

Noticing the expression on the other man's face, Yang Xiaoyou felt a bit helpless. The outfit he chose didn’t seem very approachable; however, the splay exhibition gear was easier to obtain, with only two sets capable of completely concealing one’s appearance. One was what he was currently wearing, and the other was a combat suit from Ultraman. Ultimately, he chose this one. 0

After explaining the situation thoroughly and allowing Elder Josen to look out the window at the street below, he finally began to believe them. His adaptability was far superior to that of an average person. 0

“Thank you for your rescue, beautiful lady. If you ever need anything in the future, I will go through fire and water without hesitation. May I have your phone number so I can express my gratitude later?” Elder Josen said as he tightly grasped Nobunaga Hideyoshi's hands while shaking them vigorously. 0

He completely ignored Yang Xiaoyou, who had also extended his hand. 0

A gesture stopped Noah, who was about to speak, and he covered Nobunaga Hideyoshi's mouth with his hand. Yang Xiaoyou cleared his throat and said, "Mr. Elder, what we need to consider now is how to get out of here. And I've already told you, we are mercenaries, not a charity." 0

Having someone in the team who could improve the other party's impression was always a good thing; it was best not to ruin that pleasant impression. 0

Due to Yang Xiaoyou saving his life, Nobunaga Hideyoshi, although very angry, ultimately managed to hold it in. This kind of situation was not new to him; he had grown numb to it. 0

Although he disliked this fellow interrupting him, Elder understood that this seemingly unsavory fellow was actually the one in charge among the three. 0

"I'm just a researcher. Although I have some benefits, my savings are limited. Most of my salary goes to the laboratory. However, if you rescue me, there will be others who will reward you," Elder said, spreading his hands. 0

Noah and Nobunaga Hideyoshi exchanged glances upon hearing Yang Xiaoyou suddenly make this request. At first, they thought this fellow from the Special Department had come specifically to rescue Dr. Elder, but it seemed that was not the case. 0

Nobunaga Hideyoshi keenly noticed that Yang Xiaoyou's use of "we" sounded a bit strange. 0

"It's fine; rewards are whatever. We just need your promise to help us become a secondary agent for Thunder God Corporation," Yang Xiaoyou said with a somewhat vague tone. 0

Merely a sum of money could not provide as profitable a channel as other means. In this world, the two fastest and most lucrative commodities were drugs and arms. 0
