In the evening at Song Dao Courtyard, the lights were bright, and the crowd was bustling, creating a somewhat noisy atmosphere.
If this were a large-scale event, such popularity would be quite normal. However, today's gathering had nothing to do with any program or performance.
It was merely a meeting held by the Common Unity Party to recruit a new batch of members. After the news was released, many supporters of the Common Unity Party and those who aspired to join spontaneously arrived at the venue. While it was perfectly fine to engage in discussions and promotions outside of Song Dao Courtyard, entering the courtyard to witness the party oath required an invitation or an introduction from relevant personnel, although the conditions were relatively lenient.
Many universities had their respective clubs invited and authorized to bring in members. The Common Unity Party understood that passionate youth were more likely to gain support.
In addition to various university clubs, Yuying Middle School, a unique institution, also had some clubs that received invitations. After all, Yuying Middle School's educational philosophy differed significantly from that of the Royal Academy of Basic Studies. Even before the Common Unity Party emerged on the scene, there were already students within Yuying Middle School openly supporting it.
"Brother, this is the place! What made you suddenly interested in the Common Unity Party? Do you want me to help you get in? Our club is just here to observe this time; if we find it suitable, I think we will apply for membership. Several students from our school have officially joined before," Zhao Chen said with a curious expression as he led Zhao Liang into the main hall of Song Dao Courtyard.
"I am a bit concerned about it. But if you choose this path, don't just follow what others say; make your own judgment. Once you decide, I will support you," Zhao Liang replied casually, holding a cigarette.
He cared quite a bit about his younger brother. His job was somewhat special; although his family knew he worked for the government, they were unaware of the specific department due to safety and management regulations.
Zhao Liang did not particularly like the Common Unity Party. However, his department remained completely neutral regarding party disputes and did not pay attention to them. He only hoped that the intel he received was wrong; otherwise, given the current influence of the Common Unity Party, it would lead to significant trouble.
Everyone has their own life; each person is the protagonist of their own story while others play supporting roles in their lives. His younger brother already had his own worldview. If after careful consideration he still decided to join, Zhao Liang would ultimately support him. Upon hearing Zhao Liang's words, Zhao Chen's eyes flashed with a hint of strangeness.
"So under the party's cultivation, we should strive to become pillars of our nation and contribute to our country and people. That concludes my speech; thank you all." After delivering such vague remarks, Yang Xiaoyou stepped down from the stage.
Standing backstage waiting for him was Liu Lianyue, whose forehead was now throbbing with veins. If her body hadn't yet healed, she would have genuinely felt an impulse to tear that detestable fellow apart.
The speeches and oaths delivered earlier were filled with passion, but when it came to Yang Xiaoyou, listening to his bland words was truly sleep-inducing. The seven judges wore strange expressions on their faces, seemingly at a loss for whether to laugh or cry.
However, there was nothing wrong with Yang Xiaoyou's speech. With everything in order, he ultimately passed.
"How was it? Not bad, right? No mistakes?" Yang Xiaoyou looked at Liu Lianyue, whose eyes sparkled with intensity, and chuckled, "No mistakes at all. Very good." Liu Lianyue, who had initially wanted to challenge him, found herself momentarily at a loss for words. After all, it was her responsibility to ensure he made no errors, and delivering such platitudes was indeed the safest route. She couldn't find a valid excuse to confront him.
No one could fault Yang Xiaoyou for his speech.
"Seriously? With that level of performance, she can officially join the party? Ma Ge, who is that woman?" Chen Kai scoffed from the side. He had just given a speech himself but as a representative of reserve party members, while she was swearing in as a formal member.
In his view, based on their recent performances, they were clearly not on the same level. Yet because of this disparity, he needed this opportunity to meet the requirements for joining the party, while she had already sworn in directly, indicating she had strong backing within the organization.
Her status even seemed to surpass that of Ma Xiaoyun beside him.
"Hey, right now she's like a clay Buddha crossing the river—she can barely protect herself. If it weren't for her actions back then... Hmph. But you should still avoid provoking her for now. Although times are tough for her now, her identity is still somewhat special." After a knowing smile, Ma Xiaoyun cautioned Chen Kai.
The glint of primitive desire in Chen Kai's eyes made Ma Xiaoyun slightly displeased. If it weren't for Chen's wealthy background and the party's need for substantial funding and influence during its expansion, he wouldn't want to associate with such a spoiled rich kid. However, considering that this fellow had been somewhat respectful towards him in the past, Ma Xiaoyun decided to discreetly remind him that Liu Lianyue was indeed an enchanting woman capable of captivating any man; it was only natural that an inexperienced college student would be overwhelmed by her.
"Hmm? Isn't that the Chairman's secretary? Who's that fellow beside her?" At that moment, Ma Xiaoyun inadvertently caught sight of two figures in a corner. One figure was entirely wrapped in black clothing and was quietly following a woman down a secluded passageway.
The surrounding crowd buzzed with noise and dim lighting made their actions seem inconspicuous.
"Wait here for me; I'll be right back." Feeling something was off, Ma Xiaoyun instructed Chen Kai before heading in that direction.
"Okay, you go do your thing; I'll just wander around," Zhao Liang said casually as he noticed the two fleeting figures in the corner. A glimmer of excitement flashed in his eyes before he quickly moved toward another direction.
Although he had asked his younger brother for help this time, it was somewhat troublesome as he did not want to involve his family.
Upon hearing this, Zhao Chen nodded nonchalantly. However, after Zhao Liang stepped forward, he found a corner to turn his jacket inside out, pulling out a strange mask to wear on his face while flipping the hood over his head.
"Talk? It seems quite lively tonight," Yang Xiaoyou murmured to himself as he caught sight of some unwanted cameras.
"Wait here for a moment; I'll be right back." Liu Lianyue, who was beside him, seemed to notice something as well. Frowning slightly and disregarding her recent injuries from just being discharged from the hospital, she tugged at the brim of her hat and quickly turned to leave.
