Date: October 7th
"Ah, damn it! Why can't we go out? I want to go to Akihabara! I want to see my goddess!" Second, the day before the competition, was supposed to be a day of rest.
However, Zhu Qibiao forbade Huang Wei and the others from going out. "To prevent you from taking a break under the guise of self-funded travel, I will not allow you to leave until the competition is over. Heh heh, Xiao You, without you, these contestants can’t just wander around to relax."
Upon hearing this dreadful news, Huang Wei and the others from the team were utterly disheartened, crying and lamenting, appearing extremely tragic.
"Tsk, there will still be some time after the competition. Anyway, that time was originally part of your winter break; I will give you a chance to unwind then. But not before the competition." Looking at these disgraceful fellows, Zhu Qibiao felt a bit of a headache.
Fortunately, this was in his own room. If they were seen outside, Captain Qian, who had an overwhelming sense of honor, would surely give them a stern lecture.
"After the competition? Fatty, will there be enough time?" Hearing Zhu Qibiao's words, Huang Wei immediately stopped wailing and turned to ask the nearby Fatty.
"If it's on the seventh day, it should be just right."
With this response, the group of lively characters instantly relaxed.
"Hey, what are you all planning to do?" Yang Xiaoyou asked curiously upon seeing their expressions.
"Huh? When I asked you last time, didn’t you know? How long has it been since you paid attention to this aspect’s news?" Huang Wei responded with more surprise than Yang Xiaoyou.
Hearing this, Yang Xiaoyou recalled that nonsensical question from when they met at the library. At that time, he thought it was just about whether the other party knew they were coming to Japan for the competition but hadn’t considered other possibilities. Now it seemed there might be more to it.
Although he had been playing games during his free time, due to time constraints, he indeed hadn’t kept up with the latest updates.
"Ahem, alright, don’t distract him. He needs to focus on preparing for battle now. Hmm, Xiao You, you shouldn’t go out today either." Zhu Qibiao interjected after hearing their conversation.
"Fine, I won’t go out today. But after the competition is over, I definitely want to unwind a bit and visit some friends living here." Since there were no plans today, Yang Xiaoyou wasn’t in a hurry to go out; ordinary activities were more than enough with Mo Wenfu and those fellows' Force levels.
This was an utterly disproportionate confrontation; if they couldn’t handle this much, they might as well collectively give up.
The timing for him to intervene would likely coincide with facing Fia again and also involved personally infiltrating the organization.
In a somewhat quaint courtyard in Tokyo, Takahashi Kiyoshi lifted the tea in front of him and took a sip before addressing the blond man across from him. "Shinoda Kenichi seems to have received some external support lately, which has put me under considerable pressure. I wonder if there's any way out of this."
"For us, it doesn't matter whether you or Shinoda Kenichi is in charge, as long as the agreements we've upheld in the past are guaranteed. The favor I owe you was settled when Shinoda Kenichi was indicted," the blond man replied in fluent Japanese, his expression calm.
"But Shinoda Kenichi has leveraged outside forces. Once Yamaguchi-gumi changes hands, there's no guarantee that things will continue as they have," Takahashi Kiyoshi understood what the other party was concerned about and smiled nonchalantly.
Even though he felt considerable pressure recently, he maintained an air of indifference outwardly.
"If you can be so easily controlled, we wouldn't need them to act; we could handle it ourselves. The authorities won't allow the largest gang in the country to fall into foreign hands. Well, thank you for your hospitality; I must take my leave now." After saying this dismissively, the blond man stood up to leave.
However, as he turned around, Takahashi Kiyoshi naturally drew a handgun from beneath the cushion he had been kneeling on. With that same calm expression, he raised it and fired three shots at the man's back.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The blond man fell to the ground, blood spilling from his mouth as he turned his head weakly to look at Takahashi Kiyoshi with disbelief. "You... how could you..."
"Bang!"
Before he could finish his sentence, the final shot pierced through his skull. He collapsed to the ground with eyes wide open, unable to comprehend why someone would dare shoot him.
"Quiet down; dispose of his body. No one is allowed to see me today." Takahashi Kiyoshi removed his glasses and wiped them clean, maintaining his unchanged demeanor throughout.
The forces behind the blond man were indeed formidable, but he was still the local kingpin in Tokyo. Who killed him was entirely up to him.
"In Yamanashi Prefecture's Ishiwamachi, another gang shootout has occurred. This is already..." Yang Xiaoyou watched the Japanese news on television and prepared to gather information from official sources.
In Japan, organized crime groups are somewhat legalized; thus, when shootouts appear in the news, they are often reported straightforwardly. Of course, such violence is illegal, but officials tend to cover it up more than in other countries. This allows for gleaning useful information from these reports.
Meanwhile, Huang Wei, another member of their standard double room, found the news quite intriguing. As a seasoned shut-in, he noted that this fellow's Japanese was better than his own English; however, his spoken aspects were lacking.
"I didn't expect things here to be so chaotic. Sigh, being grounded is so boring! I wanted to step onto the adult ladder here; hey, I've heard that services around here are quite open," Huang Wei complained while indulging in fantasies.
Hearing Huang Wei's words confirmed for Yang Xiaoyou that he was beyond saving. He felt a wave of sadness at being stuck with such a group of misfits.
Just as Yang Xiaoyou was complaining, there was a knock on his door.
A voice from the other side called out, "Yang Xiaoyou, we’re planning to go to the entertainment city at the hotel. Do you want to join us?"
"Sure, let’s go," Huang Wei chimed in for Yang Xiaoyou, his expression brimming with excitement as he turned to Yang Xiaoyou and said, "Looks like I’m not the only one with this idea."
Hearing this, Yang Xiaoyou couldn't help but feel a bit incredulous about the other person's intelligence. Who would go out with someone they weren't very familiar with to such a place? The entertainment city was likely focused on its nature as an entertainment venue, with a hint of gambling involved.
As they stepped outside together, Yang Xiaoyou noticed that there were indeed quite a few people around. Not only were several boys from their group present, but many others from different teams of the Chinese Empire had also come. It seemed that being in a foreign metropolis for the first time made them reluctant to stay cooped up in their rooms.
"Haha, it's more interesting when there are more people. I’ve been to Macau before; the rules here should be similar. Just know your limits—gambling is for fun, but excessive gambling can be harmful," the leading boy said with a smile.
At their age, students were naturally curious about such things. In the Chinese Empire, gathering for gambling was considered illegal; although there were underground casinos, very few students ever participated.
However, here it was completely legal, so it was normal for everyone to want to experience it.
Yang Xiaoyou didn’t feel particularly opposed to such activities.
By comparing places like this, one could also estimate the money-making capabilities of the Yamaguchi-gumi in this area. Almost half of all casinos in Japan had their presence and cut involved; this was one of their main sources of income.
