"Did they discover the overwhelming ability they have when together? Although I don't know what method they used, being able to separate them is indeed commendable. If it were just the two of them, we would have been at a disadvantage this time." As the surroundings fell silent once more, Yang Xiaoyou assessed the current situation.
In his memory, the entanglement with Ming Mei Shuang Ying had lasted a long time. This duo had caused him considerable trouble back then. In fact, during their last confrontation, if it weren't for Shadow of Death's heart being already corrupted, and if he hadn't turned around to create an escape route because of Charming Shadow, he might have died in the traps they set.
If the two were separated, they would be unable to wield their full power individually. Although their physical abilities were strong, without mental support, they wouldn't stand a chance against Lucas and his group.
"Damn, how did I end up in such a situation? Is there anyone else participating in the electronic competition? If you hear me, make a sound." Just as Yang Xiaoyou began to quietly maneuver from under the table and around various obstacles toward his two targeted directions, Qian Kai's voice suddenly echoed from the entrance of the previously silent venue.
His responsibility was to ensure the safety of the participants. He had thought that even if some members wanted to have fun in such a place, it wouldn't be a big deal; everyone was young once.
But now, instead of relaxing, they had unexpectedly encountered this chaotic scene. Although he had heard through the news that Japan's security was not great lately, this situation was too extreme. He had clearly heard gunfire moments ago.
"Captain Qian, Xiao You is missing. I'm not sure if he's inside. It seems like other students are also coming out less frequently," Qian Kai's voice reached Yang Xiaoyou's ears. It seemed Huang Wei had called him over.
Thinking about this, Yang Xiaoyou smirked; at least he hadn't wasted his effort solving the initial problem.
However, just as Huang Wei finished speaking, someone in the smoke-filled room fired several shots toward the entrance. No one present could understand Chinese, and in the uncertainty of friend or foe, they instinctively treated everyone as enemies.
After the gunfire ceased, Yang Xiaoyou heard rapid footsteps retreating from the entrance. Without needing to think further, it was clear that Huang Wei and his group had realized there was danger and abandoned Qian Kai to flee.
At the same time, he noticed a figure slipping in from the entrance and starting to hide—undoubtedly Qian Kai.
It seemed he was confident in his own abilities; even knowing there were armed individuals inside, he still prepared to come in and look for other students who might be lost here.
"Well, it's good that you're here." Although Yang Xiaoyou couldn't completely track Qian Kai's movements now that he had begun to hide himself, any obvious third-party intervention would naturally shift some of his planned actions onto Qian Kai.
With that thought in mind, Yang Xiaoyou completely blended into the white smoke around him.
A man dressed in plain clothes, resembling a gambler in a casino, was now crouched behind a Slot Machine with a gas mask on and a handgun in hand. He was intently observing his surroundings.
Beside him lay another figure dressed similarly—a victim who had been shot through the head and lay dead on the ground. The sticky blood and brain matter stained the nearby floor, clearly indicating that casualties had occurred during this brief exchange of fire.
One careless moment, and he could easily end up like his companion beside him, now a cold corpse. At that moment, he dared not let his guard down. He drew upon all the valuable experience he had accumulated from previous missions, ready to seize any opportunity to coordinate with his fellow comrades for another attack.
However,
Just as he focused all his energy on the surroundings, everything seemed normal except for the faint sound of his own breath through the gas mask. As he turned his head to scan another direction, a delicate hand clad in white gloves silently emerged from the white smoke behind him and gently clasped around his neck.
A chilling sensation surged through him instantly, but before he could react, the immense force from that hand squeezed his throat, plunging him into darkness. In the final moments of consciousness, he only heard the sickening crack of his neck breaking.
Dressed casually in a croupier's vest and gloved hands, Yang Xiaoyou stared expressionlessly at the corpse before her. From the initial gunfire, she deduced that aside from Charming Shadow, there were seven other assassins assisting her—though their skills were still considerably inferior to hers.
At the very least, judging by the initial gunfire and the alertness of the person before her, these assassins could be considered top-tier. In other missions, they would have no problem holding their own. Although there seemed to be a few Inagawa-kai gunmen around Fia, their abilities in this environment would likely prevent them from even locating where the shots were fired from; they would merely serve as targets.
In close combat, with Weimar's advanced hand-to-hand combat skills and marksmanship, these assassins posed little threat to her. However, in this environment, providing cover for Charming Shadow to shoot from the shadows was quite dangerous.
Given her current strength, facing Charming Shadow alone would not be particularly difficult; however, it would certainly not be a silent resolution. Yang Xiaoyou's initial target was to clean up these fellows beside her.
This was already the third one. Adding to that was the tragedy of Weimar seizing an opportunity to take out another. Only three remained now. The predicament facing Fia could be resolved entirely; it was just uncertain what situation Shadow of Death and Fia's other subordinates were in.
However, she could only ensure Fia's safety; she had no intention of managing anything else. After a casual smile, Yang Xiaoyou picked up the fallen assassin's handgun and randomly fired in one direction, clearly hearing a heavy thud as something fell.
After this shot rang out, internal conflict erupted once more; the sounds of gunfire echoed continuously.
Amidst the gunfire, Qian Kai carried someone while searching through the unconscious crowd on the ground. He seemed unconcerned about the gunshots ringing in his ears; his movements were remarkably quiet.
He fashioned a temporary mask from a torn sleeve, which didn’t effectively filter much but combined with his physical conditioning and breathing techniques allowed him to remain largely unaffected by this environment.
"Another one. Tsk, why are young people so weak these days?" After flipping over another body and recognizing a familiar face, Qian Kai sighed. He then tucked this rather handsome individual—whose name seemed to be Yang Xiaoyou—under his arm and turned back toward the exit.
Although he could still carry a few more people without exceeding his limits, doing so would hinder his movements and ultimately be counterproductive. He decided to first get these two saved individuals out.
Just as he neared the door, a seductive voice echoed from not far away. However, it wasn’t directed at Qian Kai himself but rather addressed someone inside: "Although I don’t know what method you used to delay my partner, I must admit you’ve done quite well. And in this environment, you even have others secretly assisting you. Perhaps next time you’ll have such an opportunity again."
After completing the task, a distinct figure could be felt moving towards Qian Kai's direction. Both Charming Shadow and Qian Kai had exceptional concealment skills, and neither side had detected the other. However, an unexpected situation arose.
As she rushed forward and spotted Qian Kai's Charming Shadow, Heart was momentarily startled. A seductive smile flashed across her face as she raised her gun and pulled the trigger at Qian Kai, who was carrying two people on his back.
Ultimately, due to the sound of her voice, Qian Kai had anticipated Charming Shadow's position slightly earlier. He had prepared himself in advance; just before she fired, he threw the person he was carrying over his shoulder and the one tucked under his arm, Yang Xiaoyou, out towards the door. He then rolled in another direction, seemingly trying to divert her attention.
Unfortunately, Qian Kai clearly hadn't assessed the current situation or identified the assassin's identity correctly. After Charming Shadow's two shots failed to achieve their intended effect, she had no intention of entangling herself with Qian Kai any further and made a direct escape through the door.
Her profession was that of an assassin; she did not engage in reckless entanglements.
"Stop! Police!" At the moment she stepped out of the exit, several officers outside holding riot shields blocked the entire corridor and shouted.
The exchange of fire had been brief, and the police arriving so quickly seemed to catch Charming Shadow off guard; it must have been that cunning target who orchestrated this.
However, surprises aside, she had encountered similar situations multiple times in her career. At this moment, she paid no mind to it. She swiftly kicked up one of the individuals thrown to the ground, grabbed him by the collar as a makeshift meat shield to block any potential gunfire from the police, and charged through a nearby window with her shield in tow.
As she leaped out, she drew a peculiar handgun and fired upwards. A rope shot out and secured itself to an upper window while she slid down with her hostage, effortlessly reaching the ground. She then dove into a red sedan and sped away.
