Chapter One Hundred Ninety-Three: William 0

"I'm really sorry, but there’s still no news. As you’ve seen in the news lately, there have been too many incidents, and we are severely understaffed," the police officer sighed, his face filled with regret. 0

Just as he finished speaking, his phone rang. After answering and exchanging a few words, he looked at Zhu Qibiao with a strange expression. 0

"We found the person. He was unconscious in a park but has now been taken to the hospital. Overall, he hasn’t sustained much harm. Congratulations." 0

Upon hearing this, excitement flickered across Zhu Qibiao's face. 0

The two fellows who had been bickering in English stepped back upon hearing the news. Both were security personnel and quite confident in their abilities as bodyguards. 0

When that incident occurred earlier, both sides felt embarrassed; now that the person had been found, it was a relief. 0

"Water," Yang Xiaoyou murmured as he lay on the hospital bed, estimating that it was about time to wake up. 0

"Hey, Xiao You is talking; he wants water," came Huang Wei's voice from beside him, showing at least a bit of conscience by coming to check on him in the hospital. 0

"But how do we give it to him? Pour it into his mouth? Sigh, I guess I'll have to make the sacrifice," Huang Wei muttered as he clumsily filled a cup with water. 0

In an instant, Yang Xiaoyou, who had initially wanted to stay asleep a little longer, snapped awake and opened his eyes. 0

Seeing the fellow who seemed ready to lean over him, he wasted no time and slapped him down to the ground without hesitation. 0

"Huh? Why are you here? Where am I? I thought I was kidnapped by some fellow," Yang Xiaoyou said cheerfully after knocking Huang Wei down, pretending to just notice his surroundings. 0

However, he felt an unusual sense of satisfaction from that slap; he had long wanted to give this fellow a good hit, and it felt great to finally do so. 0

Huang Wei, who was just about to lose his temper, felt a surge of frustration after hearing Yang Xiaoyou's feigned ignorance. He could only huff in annoyance. 0

Meanwhile, after Yang Xiaoyou regained consciousness, the first to arrive was the investigating police officer. However, Yang Xiaoyou completely brushed them off, citing that he had been mostly unconscious. 0

Once the police finished their inquiries, they dealt with the teachers and some self-funded students who came to check on him. Although there had been an incident, the competition was merely postponed and would proceed as scheduled. 0

The participating contestants had not come to visit him. 0

Zhu Qibiao also advised Yang Xiaoyou not to worry too much about the competition; his health was more important. 0

Seeing this attitude from Zhu Qibiao made Yang Xiaoyou feel a bit embarrassed. 0

Of course, embarrassment aside, he had no intention of attending the competition. He simply told Zhu Qibiao to handle his project as he saw fit, considering it a form of compensation. 0

"Don't worry too much. Even though you're not participating, I've still submitted your work. Given your special circumstances, you will definitely receive some consideration for rewards, and your credits can be compensated accordingly," Zhu Qibiao reassured him at the bedside. 0

"Thank you for your trouble, teacher." The possibility of receiving extra credits made Yang Xiaoyou quite pleased. 0

In a lounge at the Tokyo Science Museum during the Electronic Innovation Competition, a slightly lazy-looking Eurasian Mixed-Blood man yawned and appeared somewhat bored. 0

"Although it's a global competition, we don't really need to pay attention to the youth category. Without enough practical experience, how can anything useful emerge? But a public-funded trip isn't bad; this place is wonderful," he muttered to himself before preparing to get up and symbolically attend to his duties. 0

From what he observed yesterday, aside from a girl from China who showed decent skills, everyone else was just passable—well deserving of the youth competition title. 0

"Dr. William! Dr. William!" 0

Just as he stepped out of the room, his assistant hurried towards him, waving both hands excitedly with a look of enthusiasm on his face. 0

"Ha? What's going on?" William looked at his assistant, who wore a strange expression, feeling somewhat puzzled. 0

"I found a work that shares a similar perspective to yours. You should come take a look," the assistant replied, taking a breath and sounding slightly excited. They had originally come here with a trial-and-error mindset, but they hadn't expected to find such an interesting topic. 0

Although the approach seemed a bit immature and lacked experience, the direction chosen by the other party was almost identical to the Doctor's. William believed that the Doctor would be pleased to mentor such a disciple. 0

Buzzing. 0

William glanced at the Soy Milk Maker in front of him, feeling his mouth twitch slightly as beads of sweat began to form on his forehead. 0

The design concept from this fellow was quite appealing to him, but the resulting product was... 0

"Where is this fellow?" After rubbing his temples, William complained. Although he was dissatisfied with the gadget's utility, he remained interested in a young person who had chosen the same path as himself. 0

The company's design had reached a bottleneck stage; introducing some fresh blood might just revitalize it. 0

It was all that damned Elder Josen's fault for creating such an epoch-making contraption that instantly pushed the design of cutting-edge weapon platforms into completely uncharted territory. 0

Before that invention appeared, anyone developing Humanoid Combat Weapons would have only faced endless ridicule. Under the current precision-guided attack capabilities, such expensive weapons could hardly demonstrate their intended value. 0

But now, everything had changed with the emergence of that revolutionary Anti-Lock System. Whether it could truly be applied in real combat remained uncertain, but it had opened up new possibilities. 0

Modularity was a design philosophy William had proposed within the company; however, there weren't many who agreed with it. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been assigned to do this vacation-like work in such a place. 0

"Uh, that contestant was affected by the last attack and is still in the hospital," the assistant said, clearly having done his homework beforehand. 0

"The hospital? Let's go visit him then; bring some nutritional supplements or something," William pondered for a moment before responding and then turned to head down the path. 0

Seeing his back, the assistant couldn't help but smile. Although he complained a lot, it seemed that the doctor was quite fond of that contestant. 0

After all, there weren't many people who agreed with the doctor's ideas. Most thought modularization was a concept that sounded wonderful in theory but was actually quite terrible in practice. 0

"Are you planning to peel all the flesh off and eat it yourself?" Looking at Huang Wei, who was peeling an apple and had almost reduced it to just a core, Yang Xiaoyou rolled her eyes. 0

Caught red-handed in his scheme, Huang Wei stubbornly retorted, "I'm just not very good with my hands, that's all. Seriously, I'm helping you out and you're still nagging." 0

Just then, there was a knock on the door of the hospital room. 0

Upon hearing the knock, Huang Wei immediately put on a goofy expression and hurried over to joyfully open the door. "Nurse!" 0

However, it turned out to be that lovely nurse coming to check the temperature. Huang Wei's face fell as he looked at the middle-aged man standing before him. 0

"Who are you looking for?" Huang Wei asked with a frown in poorly spoken English. 0

"Is Yang Xiaoyou in this room?" The middle-aged man, who appeared to be of mixed heritage, slowly inquired. 0

Yang Xiaoyou, sitting on the hospital bed, glanced at the man outside with some surprise; he looked somewhat familiar. 0

If her memory served her right, this fellow seemed to be the founder of the modular structure for mechas proposed in the future and was also the source of inspiration for her design of the Soy Milk Maker. 0
