Chapter One Hundred Ninety-Nine Infection
"They are members of the neighboring Karate Dojo, but the one with the tattoo just got out of prison and is a member of the Yamaguchi-gumi, so you all need to be cautious," the Boss of the electronics store warned Huang Wei and his group.
Out of a natural instinct to band together as the weaker party, Huang Wei and his friends gravitated towards the store owner’s group, finding comfort in their numerical advantage.
However, they were well aware that despite their numbers, they would not stand a chance against the tattooed man, especially with several female staff members present.

Yang Xiaoyou delivered a swift chop that sliced through the neck of a nearby police corpse, shattering its spine completely.
This appeared to be a corpse that had just awakened. On this street, aside from a few others feasting on bodies in different locations, there were only a handful of survivors hiding among cars. The air was thick with the stench of blood, and various car alarms blared incessantly.
The scene of broken bodies mixed with alarms and gnawing sounds made the street resemble a hellish nightmare.
Although the crowd fled blindly, they instinctively knew not to head in this direction.
Despite the number of corpses present, they were scattered across such a wide street that it felt sparse. Most remained where they were, preoccupied with their 'food,' while others had likely followed the fleeing crowd. If handled properly, their safety could be relatively assured.
However, where there had been almost no sign of corpses before, turning around now revealed a scene that illustrated just how terrifyingly fast the H Virus was spreading in this densely populated city.
"In the early stages of viral infection, when corpses have not yet fully stiffened, their mobility and agility can even exceed that of ordinary people under certain conditions. This period is the most dangerous; we must avoid drawing attention," Yang Xiaoyou said as she assessed her surroundings after dispatching the nearby corpse. She quickly briefed Charming Shadow on their current situation to prepare her mentally.
Perhaps at this moment, corpses were only slightly more mobile than normal humans. Yet that slight edge combined with their overwhelming numbers created an extraordinarily terrifying destructive power. Those who might have escaped quickly could easily find themselves torn apart in pursuit.
Back in Kapa City, they had narrowly escaped by hiding in a dumpster at the end of a sealed alley.

"If you perform well, he will naturally be fine. Just trust your own heart; his abilities are valuable only as long as he's alive," Yang Xiaoyou said, showing little interest in disrupting their emotional bond. It seemed unrealistic to him.
However, their emotional attachment was their own business. He only needed results. His goal was to use them separately to achieve his own objectives. They could continue their spiritual romance while knowing the other was alive without meeting each other. They would both work hard for the sake of the other.
For some reason, after making this choice, he felt a strange mix of guilt and excitement, leading Yang Xiaoyou to think that perhaps he had played too many messed-up games lately.

At that moment, Huang Wei was in a supermarket carrying a box of mineral water when he suddenly sneezed uncontrollably.
"Are you trying to get us killed?! What if you attract those things?" a man hiding at the supermarket entrance came up to him with a grim expression and whispered angrily.
Faced with such accusations, Huang Wei nodded apologetically. Fortunately, due to their shared interests, the group had a decent grasp of Japanese. As long as they spoke as little as possible, they managed not to reveal any other flaws.
At times like this, adding even a little more irritation could lead to disaster.

At this moment, the Tattooed Strongman, who had started opening the door, also suggested sending someone to carry supplies. Unfortunately for Huang Wei, he drew the short straw.
Fortunately, when he arrived at the supermarket, he found it completely empty. The glass door had been smashed by the big man using a baseball bat wrapped in a towel, making only a minimal noise.
Although there was still a Salesperson who had come out from behind the counter, Huang Wei could tell from his thin frame and pale complexion that even if they teamed up, they would not be a match for the fellows sent out by the Karate Dojo.
After dealing with that fellow in front of him, Huang Wei continued with his task. However, as he carried a box of bottled water past the hunched Salesperson, he instinctively sensed something was off.
At that moment, the thin fellow's body was trembling uncontrollably as if he were very cold.
"Hey, what's wrong with you?" Huang Wei asked, holding onto the box of water and kicking at the other person lightly.
"What the hell is wrong with you? Are you looking for trouble?" The fellow who had just scolded Huang Wei approached again.
"Look at him; he seems a bit off," Huang Wei said, his voice trembling slightly.
"Pfft, what a useless skinny guy; he can't even carry a box of canned goods. Just trash," scoffed the big man watching the trembling Salesperson crouched on the floor. He then raised his foot and kicked at him.
While Huang Wei's gentle kick caused no harm, the heavy kick from the big man was suddenly caught by the Salesperson.
"Ah, I can't believe it! Let go, let go!" The burly man, initially surprised, was about to say something when the grip on his ankle tightened, as if it would snap his leg in two. It was hard to believe that such strength could come from the frail Salesperson before him.
Then, without warning, the Salesperson suddenly bit down on his leg, tearing away a large chunk of flesh along with his pants.
Caught off guard by such an attack, the burly man couldn't help but let out a howl of pain.
Meanwhile, Huang Wei was completely stunned, instinctively covering his mouth and dropping the box of bottled water he had been holding as he ran outside.
The strong man who had been dragged to the ground shouted, "Help me! Help, help me! Get this lunatic off me!"
However, Huang Wei, in a panic to escape, ignored the cries for help and dashed toward the exit.
Just as he reached the door, he caught sight of two figures outside that sent him into a state of sheer terror. "It's over," he thought.
With a loud 'smack,' Huang Wei instinctively closed his eyes. After being struck on the head, he heard a familiar voice say, "You guys managed to run this far? Looks like you’ve really honed your skills."
Opening his eyes and looking up, he saw Yang Xiaoyou with a look of disbelief on her face.
Yang Xiaoyou had driven an off-road vehicle for quite some distance and never expected to run into this group of misfits in such a situation.
