"Hahaha, look at this!" Huang Wei walked down the street with a lovestruck expression, clutching the album tightly. Yang Xiaoyou was also leaning in close, occasionally stealing a kiss.
"Enough already, even the other fellows are getting goosebumps watching you two," someone remarked.
"By the way, Xiao You, why did you suddenly decide to call us out today? Usually, it's us who have to invite you," Huang Wei said, finally recalling something after his infatuation had settled down.
"I just came to pick up some herbs. Honestly, I won't bother next time," Yang Xiaoyou rolled his eyes and replied somewhat helplessly. He couldn't reveal the real reason; otherwise, he would surely be burned alive by this group of fellows.
"Herbs? You’re not telling me you’ve been spending too much time with the goddesses and lost your self-control, are you?" one of the fellows teased with a mischievous grin, nudging Yang Xiaoyou with his elbow.
The others joined in on the banter, creating quite a ruckus on this commercial street filled with various electronic products.
"Hey, watch where you're going! Uh, sorry about that! Let me help you clean up," Huang Wei said jokingly as he turned around and accidentally bumped into someone coming from the opposite direction.
Since the sidewalk was naturally divided into two directions, it was usually hard to collide unless someone was deliberately walking against the flow. At first, Huang Wei wore an aggressive expression of complaint.
However, upon seeing the burly figure in a sleeveless shirt displaying bulging muscles and large tattoos, his expression changed completely. Without hesitation, he pulled out a tissue from his pocket and began wiping himself down.
To put it nicely, he knew when to advance and when to retreat; to put it bluntly...
Meanwhile, Yang Xiaoyou trailing behind couldn't help but frown at the group of thugs who had intentionally bumped into Huang Wei.
Honestly speaking, these guys looked like broke students; they shouldn't be targeting someone like him for trouble. Did they think outsiders were easy prey?
On this street, it was likely that half of the people were outsiders as well.
In this situation, it could only mean they were deliberately seeking trouble. As for why that was happening, Yang Xiaoyou didn't believe that Huang Wei and his incompetent fellows could have stirred up such trouble without reason; it was probably related to him.
With that thought in mind, Yang Xiaoyou began scanning his surroundings. Using his keen sense of energy perception, he caught sight of a gaze filled with hatred and malice directed at him.
"Did I offend him? Is there really such a deep grudge? Has this fellow lost his mind?" Yang Xiaoyou thought as he spotted someone lurking not far away.
It turned out to be the boyfriend of Chen Wuyou's friend from that banquet they attended together. This fellow had always been 'patient' back then; even when Eighth Master was being inappropriate with his girlfriend, he showed no signs of stopping it.
Yet now he inexplicably sought out Yang Xiaoyou. It was rare for him to come here only to run into such a fellow; it left Yang Xiaoyou feeling quite perplexed.
At first, it was just a simple gesture, but it was clear that a few ordinary thugs couldn't just beat him up without reason. If he was doing this, it must be because he had something else planned.
Following this line of thought, Yang Xiaoyou also noticed two Patrol Officers nearby glancing in their direction from time to time.
"Tch," Yang Xiaoyou thought, feeling somewhat speechless at such a simple yet disgusting arrangement. It seemed that this fellow had made these plans on the spur of the moment after seeing him. Perhaps there were some acquaintances at the nearby police station. It might not be a Major Incident, but being detained for twenty-four hours would certainly be annoying.
As Yang Xiaoyou casually observed and identified a few unstable points around him, Huang Wei was suddenly kicked to the ground by one of the thugs. The man who had collided with him stepped on Huang Wei and said, "Hmm? Did you look very tough just now?"
The other men behind him also moved closer, clearly having received some sort of hint. Although they all wore unfriendly expressions, they didn't seem to have any intention of bothering Yang Xiaoyou or the others. The big man who had been involved in the collision simply stood there and kicked Huang Wei a few times.
Fortunately, Huang Wei was indeed quite peculiar; even now, he wore a sycophantic smile as he expressed his 'apologies' and occasionally glanced at Yang Xiaoyou as if seeking help.
When the big man noticed this pleading look, he shot a glance back at Yang Xiaoyou but found that the target was completely different from what he had expected.
At his age, if he had really learned some martial arts, he would surely feel compelled to act in such a situation and show off his Specialty. Yet this fellow just stood there watching his 'friend' being humiliated. Was the employer's understanding of him mistaken? This guy was no expert at all?
However, since he was being paid to handle things, after kicking Huang Wei a few times, the big man followed Huang Wei's desperate gaze over to Yang Xiaoyou.
"What? You want to interfere?"
"It's fine, you misunderstood; go ahead," Yang Xiaoyou replied nonchalantly while playing with his phone and sharing a smile with the big man.
"You think you can just sit back and watch? Who do you think you are?" The thug saw that this fellow was unyielding and decided to take advantage of the situation. He strode over and pointed his finger as if intending to poke Yang Xiaoyou in the chest.
Just as he was about to jab, the flash from Yang Xiaoyou's phone camera went off. The target then calmly said, "Don't bring trouble upon yourself. If I were you, I'd check in with Eighth Master first."
The sound of the camera clicking meant that only the big man heard Yang Xiaoyou's words.
Initially ready to lash out due to being photographed, the thug's expression changed when he realized that this seemingly calm young man didn’t appear to be just talking nonsense.
Even if he were trying to intimidate someone, he did it convincingly enough that it warranted verification. Otherwise, offending someone who shouldn't be offended could lead to serious trouble.
It wasn't much trouble to make a phone call and ask.
With that thought in mind, he fell silent for a moment before stepping back, taking out his phone and dialing a number. "Big Brother Da, it's me, Lang."
"What the hell! Zhou Tong!" The voice on the other end, who he had met a few times before as a confidant of Eighth Master, had just begun to describe Yang Xiaoyou's appearance when he was about to ask for her name.
The initially indifferent voice suddenly became tense, rapidly detailing every aspect of the person's appearance as if spitting out beans. Once he confirmed the information, the voice erupted into a stream of curses that nearly pierced his eardrums.
In this situation, one could easily guess that the other party was not joking.
Thinking about how close he had come to causing a Major Incident, he couldn't help but curse at the Sponsor who occasionally asked him to handle matters.
He then noticed the student in front of him, who seemed to have captured his appearance perfectly, wearing an awkward yet ingratiating smile.
Just as he was about to say something, two Patrol Officers who had been watching from a distance seemed to sense something was off and approached them.
"What’s going on here? Disturbing the peace? Take them away."
Because the big man had made some moves towards Huang Wei earlier, it had indeed attracted a crowd. They had initially wanted to wait for things to escalate before intervening, but it seemed something unexpected had occurred, prompting their early arrival. To be continued...
