"Did you find it?"
"No, let's check over there."
In a somewhat messy alley, two young men dressed in traditional Uyghur attire glanced around before running off in another direction.
Not long after they left, a large bamboo basket was flipped over, and a similarly dressed young man stepped out, reaching in to pull out Yang Xiaoyou, who looked like he was about to collapse.
"Look, they’ve ruined their business and are searching everywhere," Yang Xiaoyou said weakly.
Hearing this, Nigati's face showed a bitter expression. "Of course I’m angry. We were about to make tens of thousands, and now we have to search everywhere."
"Uh, no way. Although the actual density should indeed be much greater than it looks, it shouldn’t be this exaggerated," Yang Xiaoyou replied, feeling somewhat incredulous. If it were really that expensive, placing such a 'luxury item' on a dilapidated tricycle seemed absurd.
"They're quoting prices based on two counts. Sigh, they have people near the train station, so it’ll be hard for you to get out in the short term. I apologize for the trouble my people have caused you," Nigati said, his eyes flashing with deep helplessness as he sincerely addressed Yang Xiaoyou.
"It's fine. Every place has good people and bad people. Isn’t there someone like you here? Good deeds don’t travel far, but bad news spreads like wildfire," Yang Xiaoyou waved his hand dismissively. He had a good impression of this kind-hearted Uyghur; without him, given his current physical condition, he would be in serious trouble.
However, just as he had mentioned earlier, once credibility is completely damaged, everyone from their community would suffer the consequences. Destruction is always easier than construction.
"I know a place; let’s hide there for now. There's someone who got injured by them hiding there too. You don’t look too well yourself," Nigati said as he looked around to ensure no one was searching before leading Yang Xiaoyou through the winding alley to a dilapidated house.
This area was part of an old city renovation project with buildings set for demolition; however, some transient populations rented these low-cost places before they were torn down.
"Don’t worry; they don’t know about this place." After unlocking an old door and checking the surroundings, Nigati led Yang Xiaoyou inside. Once inside, he closed the door behind them and propped it shut with a wooden beam.
Upon entering the room, Yang Xiaoyou noticed a figure lying on a nearby patch of ground, seemingly bandaged up. It was likely the person that Nigati had mentioned, the one who had been injured.
At the same time, he saw Nigati pull out some dried food and water to feed the person lying on the ground.
However, as he helped the person sit up and caught sight of their face, Yang Xiaoyou's expression turned extremely strange. "What is this fellow doing here?! Didn't he decide to settle in Vietnam? This is ridiculous."
The injured person on the ground was none other than Lin Min, the overly righteous individual who had escaped the Tokyo Virus and had ultimately joined a Vietnamese armed trading company due to despair from his superior's persecution. He was the very police officer who had always wanted to capture Yang Xiaoyou.
To think that after several months of no contact, he had quietly returned to the country and, for some inexplicable reason, had been beaten up by a group of fellows who didn't seem particularly strong.
"Officer Lin? What a coincidence."
Seeing the bandaged fellow, Yang Xiaoyou greeted him with a hint of sympathy.
Given Lin Min's previous targeting of him, Yang Xiaoyou had harbored considerable resentment towards him. Back in Tokyo, he had even considered using Corpse's hand to eliminate him. However, after Lin Min was betrayed by his superior and joined that trading company in Vietnam, there hadn't been any further conflict between them.
Now, both of them were in a state of serious injury, creating an unspoken bond of shared suffering.
"It's you! Cough cough... well, never mind. I'm no longer interested in capturing you," Lin Min said, initially appearing excited upon seeing Yang Xiaoyou. The movement caused him pain at his wound, but he quickly fell into a gloomy silence.
"Do you two know each other? That's great! You should take him to the hospital. Despite his serious injuries, he refuses to go. I don't understand what he's thinking. Although current medical aid isn't entirely free for treating his wounds, they can at least provide free care and disinfection. I used to go there often," Nigati remarked, seemingly surprised that the two knew each other before turning to Yang Xiaoyou.
Upon hearing this, Yang Xiaoyou understood that this fellow must have smuggled himself in; it seemed he really couldn't go to a regular hospital. His identity was already 'dead,' and he might have come back to visit family or for some other reason.
"I won't be going, no matter how much you persuade me," Lin Min said indifferently. The past few months had changed him; he would have never spoken like this to someone who had saved him before.
"I wasn't trying to persuade you anyway; it's none of my business. I'm leaving at dawn," Yang Xiaoyou replied, casting a glance at the fellow before continuing with his own thoughts.
After feeding Lin Min some food, Nigati moved to the other side to skewer some vegetables. It seemed he was preparing materials for a barbecue, and this place appeared to store food that wouldn't spoil easily.
"Yeah, if it's dawn, they should be resting. But we still need to be cautious. They're ruthless; if they catch you, it won't end well. Even reporting it to the police is difficult," Nigati reminded as he skewered the ingredients.
Thinking about this made Yang Xiaoyou feel a bit frustrated. If only he still had his phone, he could contact Ba or the police to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, his trusty Nokia had been reduced to dust by Luo Guohui's strike.
"Um, can I ask you for a favor?" Seeing Yang Xiaoyou ignoring him, Lin Min wanted to do the same but ultimately decided to swallow his pride and speak up.
"No."
"You can't even listen to me? Sigh, a friend of mine has been kidnapped. I'm here looking for her, and two other friends came with me. They're in Q City right now. I just hope you can help me look for them when you go and inform them about my situation." Lin Min pressed on, unable to back down.
"Kidnapped? Is it a guy or a girl?" Yang Xiaoyou asked, intrigued by his words. His friend? Which one from Vietnam?
"The one who was kidnapped is a girl; the other companion is a guy," Lin Min sighed at this moment.
Hearing this, even Yang Xiaoyou felt somewhat speechless.
He had dealt with those 'companions' before. Back then, although his strength couldn't compare to now, he had still held some power over the situation.
Engaging with those two fellows at the edge was exceptionally challenging. Although I managed to gain the upper hand, I still couldn't do anything to them.
Since that encounter, both of them had likely broken through to a new level over the past few months, truly grasping their own abilities.
It was quite baffling that such a major trouble arose from being kidnapped and captured alive.
Even now, I believed I could kill the two of them, but capturing one alive without paying any price would still be difficult.
Could they have used some special means?
Moreover, why would they randomly kidnap that fellow? Their merchant guild, while neutral in Cam Ranh, didn't have much to offer in terms of profit. Their combat strength was exceptional, making this an ungrateful task—a tough nut to crack.
The one with healthy skin, Jidun, had a stunning figure and was quite attractive. However, it seemed unlikely that any forceful individual would kidnap her solely for her looks.
This situation was indeed peculiar.
This could very well be a strong individual who had broken through to the Momentum Level.
Although Heart was somewhat curious, due to my current physical condition, Yang Xiaoyou wouldn't get involved in this mess. At most, I would help send a letter on behalf of the Uyghur Boy who also pleaded for assistance.
