"What just happened? That felt so strange," Lucas thought, realizing his own aura and sensing the movements of the other party.
However, with his level of perception and insight, he couldn't grasp the details. He only felt a fleeting sense of crisis, but as the intelligence agent in front of him vanished, he dismissed the inexplicable dust that had been stirred up around him.
To most strong individuals who had already comprehended their aura, it was merely a state of mind, a form of mental realm—a supplementary tool for combat. The idea that it could directly cause destructive harm seemed absurd.
At that moment, Shadow of Death also felt something unusual. He was aware of the identity of the 'intelligence agent' before him, and he knew that the recent changes were undoubtedly connected to him in some way.
The Mysterious Figure, noticing that his attack had missed, didn't seem overly concerned. When he saw Yang Xiaoyou manage to detect and intercept him directly, he refrained from launching another attack and instead chose to display his inventory as a form of intimidation.
Given this situation, along with the Licker beside him and the potential arrival of the Tyrant, it was clear that drawing attention from the other side would be quite difficult.
However, it would also be unwise for the other party to focus their attention here. The Tyrant had yet to appear, indicating an understanding that the escape route was not suitable for the Tyrant's size. Even if such a route existed, it would be at a considerable distance, relying solely on this Mysterious Figure and the surrounding Lickers.
Even with a full inventory, it would be challenging to pose a destructive threat to Yang Xiaoyou's team; a direct confrontation would only lead to mutual destruction. In fact, due to Yang Xiaoyou's presence, their side might achieve a counter-kill at the cost of others' lives.
Yet, Yang Xiaoyou would gain no advantage either. Lucas and Shadow of Death were core members; Shadow of Death's life was tied to the capable Multifunctional Maid, and he too dared not take risks.
In this scenario, an odd balance had been struck.
"Cough cough cough," at that moment, Hakim, who had been knocked away, managed to get back on his feet. He had intended to retreat tactically after being hit, so aside from supporting his shoulder and coughing up some blood, his injuries were not too severe.
"It seems you haven't reached a cooperation agreement with Black September. How about sharing some data with us? Let's have a brief collaboration. A direct confrontation benefits neither side," Hakim said decisively after assessing the situation before him.
The organization appeared lawless and was even involved in developing this virus; however, due to their vast profit chain, they were not as extreme as the lunatics in Black September.
In this current situation, compromise seemed like the best choice.
Although Hakim did not know Yang Xiaoyou's strength or the ultimate trump card of that mysterious fellow, he could see that the strength comparison between the Lickers and both sides was fairly even.
"A group of poor fools who don't know where they got the Virus Sample from have merely achieved some results through live experiments. I'm just taking back what belongs to us. If you're interested, I can share the data on their failed experiments with you." A hoarse voice came from beneath the mask, followed by the toss of a USB drive. After catching it, Hakim plugged it into his custom phone and nodded to the others.
Meanwhile, Afifah took advantage of the fact that their shielding device had been destroyed to contact headquarters about something unknown.
After a brief and cautious search, each with their own motives and wary of one another, the mysterious fellow jumped into an opening beneath a Control Panel. The surrounding Lickers seemed to receive some command and began to withdraw quickly.
They let in the townspeople who had originally been blocked outside.
Fortunately, Yang Xiaoyou and her group had heightened their Vigilance. Seeing the other party move, they wasted no time following Lucas as he led the way inside.
Just as the last person entered, the opening slowly closed, completely blocking out the enraged townspeople outside.
"Heart Point. This environment is ideal for a Licker's attack. Although their attacks do more harm than good to us, we can't let our guard down. It's indeed incredible that they can directly control such things." As they descended the damp staircase into the underground passage, Hakim pondered while watching where the others had disappeared.
"We shouldn't worry too much; perhaps they're hoping we will spread news unrelated to them about this incident. They just finished a deal with the United Arab Emirates. If those fellows collaborating with Black September frame them for this, it would certainly hurt their profits," Yang Xiaoyou said with a slight glimmer in her eyes before smiling. It seemed that there were some discrepancies in how that fellow's organization typically operated.
Hakim nodded in agreement but kept everyone's attention at its peak. After all, besides that mysterious fellow, Black September itself was equally terrifying. The tunnel, although not wide, appeared to branch out in many directions, and no one knew what traps or mechanisms lay within.
That mysterious fellow had Lickers clearing the way and had already scouted as they entered, but Hakim's group couldn't afford to be reckless.
"I've requested support; now we just need to protect ourselves. Time is on our side," Afifah spoke up from her position at the edge after hearing their conversation.
"Support from Official sources is good, but that's for cleanup work later. We can't rely on them right now. Initially, I planned to bring a friend along, but unfortunately, he got delayed by other matters and I didn't expect things to escalate so quickly here," Hakim said as he led the way forward. Although he had sustained some injuries, perhaps due to having obtained what he wanted and being in a relatively safe environment, he started talking a bit more.
"Bringing friends to a place like this could endanger them; both of these fellows' leaders are still unaccounted for. It's better if you don't involve anyone else," Lucas remarked nonchalantly while keeping watch behind them.
Hearing this, the two Mossad agents looked somewhat grim; in such an environment, their mission took precedence. Their captain was strong, but even so, his fate was uncertain.
"Haha! Don't think you're the only ones who have faced viruses head-on; my partner has also confronted them directly. Not only is he a Survivor from Kapa City, but he has also participated in several large-scale infection investigations. His strength is such that I've never seen him go all out; however, he's a White House Correspondent and has too much on his plate this time to come along," Hakim replied with a laugh at Lucas's words, seemingly unfazed.
However, at that moment, Yang Xiaoyou beside them couldn't help but show a dead fish eye expression. If what this Interpol agent said was true, then his friend...
He touched his chest, which still felt a bit tight, and sighed. The injuries from last time had not yet fully healed.
Just then, a light appeared ahead of them.
"The exit should be up ahead," said the uninjured Mossad team member, finally revealing a glimmer of hope on his previously gloomy face.
After all the sacrifices made, reaching their goal would be worth it.
But seeing the bright light ahead, Yang Xiaoyou frowned. His perception and calculation abilities were exceptionally sharp; according to the route they had taken, they should still be underground.
Upon reaching the illuminated exit, everyone discovered that they were in a vast space that had been extensively hollowed out, far from the narrow tunnel they had started in.
The reason for the light was that the ceiling, over ten meters high, had been opened up to the surface, revealing four large windows with thick metal bars.
In this expansive area, there were several exits similar to the one they had entered through. Moreover, on both sides were structures resembling stands, making it seem like an ancient underground sports arena. Given the dark red dried blood stains on the ground, it could also be a gladiatorial arena.
At that moment, in the center of this Gladiatorial Arena stood a man in a gray trench coat, facing away from them.
