"How did this fellow end up here? Oh right, I was the one who sent him the message last time. Has he not found anyone yet?" Yang Xiaoyou frowned as he looked at the burly African American man.
He was a leading figure in the Neutral Chamber of Commerce from Golden Bay, and that police officer Lin Min, who had always targeted Yang Xiaoyou, had also joined the other party's chamber. They had run into each other when buying pastries last time; it seemed another key combatant, Revy, had been kidnapped and they had sneaked into the Chinese Empire together.
Yang Xiaoyou never expected to meet him in a place like this.
"Kidnapped? The Common Unity Party... Well, since they're here, if it's not the Common Unity Party that kidnapped Revy to threaten him, then they're probably looking for someone to collaborate with the Common Unity Party. Tsk, Chapter 387: What a miscalculation. Asking the Tongtang Party Headquarters for help is less practical than going directly to the Radicals. Not understanding the situation here is truly a pitfall." After a brief pause, Yang Xiaoyou began to understand why this armed smuggler from Vietnam was present.
However, back in Vietnam, he had managed to gain the upper hand even in one-on-two situations. Even if they had gained some experience and made breakthroughs after their encounters with him, accumulating strength over time...
But his own rate of improvement was on a crushing level. Even if they had reached a formidable stage similar to Weimar and were stronger than ordinary individuals at the Momentum Level, they were no longer on the same tier as him.
"To be honest, I initially wanted to bring you into my group, but you're really not suited to be here right now. So, I can only apologize." By the time those last three words left his mouth, his voice lingered in the air while Yang Xiaoyou's figure had already vanished into thin air.
Where he disappeared from, dirt sprayed outwards like bullets, and the bushes beside him collapsed outward in a radiating pattern!
Yang Xiaoyou had indeed admired those two members of their chamber back in Chapter 387; compared to their strength, their character was also reliable and met the criteria for joining—quite rare.
Unfortunately, at this moment, both of them were on opposing battlefields. Moreover, this time he hadn't concealed his identity; being in an adversarial position and having seen him made the choice quite simple.
No matter how confident Yang Xiaoyou was, he could not allow an opponent at the Momentum Level to lurk around him.
There are thieves for a thousand days but no defenses against thieves for a thousand days!
Bang! Bang! Boom!
As soon as Yang Xiaoyou opened his mouth to speak, Duh instinctively felt a wave of deathly threat wash over him. After so long in the field, he had faced life-and-death situations more than a dozen times.
Yet never had he felt death so close!
Without a moment's hesitation, he instinctively raised his arms in defense while simultaneously pushing off the ground. The tree trunk beneath him snapped under the force of his push, and he shot forward like an arrow released from a bow. He lifted his right leg and slammed his knee upward into the air.
He had completely abandoned defense, choosing instead to exchange life for life, attacking in place of guarding!
When a martial artist reaches a certain level, their offensive power far exceeds their defensive capabilities. Even against a stronger opponent, if a vital point is struck with full force, it could lead to either death or serious injury. Instances of the weak overcoming the strong happen frequently on the ever-changing battlefield.
Moreover, old injuries and hidden wounds carried from the battlefield often linger for a lifetime. Generally, unless it was a life-or-death struggle, even those with superior strength rarely fought recklessly.
Duh was betting on that slim chance of attack, hoping to make this terrifying opponent value their own body and consider their injuries. As long as he created an opportunity, he had already decided to escape immediately. He believed that with his own strength, the opponent would not press too hard.
However, while his choice was correct, any other being of Yang Xiaoyou's caliber would likely have chosen not to take that hit head-on, instead looking for opportunities to wear down their opponent without injury.
But clearly, Yang Xiaoyou was not among them.
Suspended in mid-air and maintaining forward momentum, Yang Xiaoyou faced Duh's fierce attack without any intention of dodging.
In that brief moment of intersection in the air, Yang Xiaoyou's right hand casually pressed down, firmly pinning Duh's fierce knee strike in place, rendering it immobile.
Only the groans from both their bones and the tearing of fabric along with the swirling air currents indicated that the underlying force was far from what it appeared on the surface.
While it seemed like an even match between their arms and thighs, both sides were acutely aware of the disparity in strength.
At the same time, Yang Xiaoyou's left hand traced an eerie trajectory as it slipped past Duh's blocking arms and directly pressed against his throat.
Although desperately grabbing Yang Xiaoyou's arm in an attempt to cushion the impact, the overwhelming force of the knee strike made it clear that an arm could not withstand a thigh.
Then, the two of them shot forward like cannonballs, forcibly reversing their momentum and crashing into a sturdy tree ahead. The bark splintered off in waves, and countless leaves fell from the vibrating trunk.
With Yang Xiaoyou's physique gripping a burly Black man, the contrast was striking.
"I can't match that kind of resilience, but can I not compete with a human? Taking a hit isn't such a big deal," Yang Xiaoyou thought to himself, feeling the tremendous recoil in his right hand.
Just as Yang Xiaoyou was about to exert more strength with his left hand to finish off his target, he suddenly frowned. A hint of dark energy flickered across his face, and beneath his healthy, smooth skin, capillaries seemed to surface briefly before returning to normal.
"Of all times, now? Tsk, you’re lucky," he thought. He could have easily taken down this fellow with one more push. Yet, unexpectedly for Duh, Yang Xiaoyou withdrew his hand, and Duh slowly slid down against the tree trunk, exhausted.
Although that deadly left hand had left his neck, Duh still dared not move recklessly. With just one glance, he had been completely overwhelmed by Yang Xiaoyou's shattered superhuman attack and had instinctively countered it with his defense. The terror emanating from his opponent was clearly on another level.
In the face of absolute power, all schemes and tricks were meaningless. Just from that single impact, Duh felt as if his entire body might fall apart; even thinking about doing anything was beyond him at this moment.
Yet as he looked at the fleeting dark energy on Yang Xiaoyou's face, a glimmer of understanding crossed his eyes. "Too many killings have led to backlash from the malevolent energy? It seems your original nature is much closer to peace and has a strong aversion to slaughter."
Gently calming the increasingly solid malevolent energy within himself, Yang Xiaoyou unexpectedly glanced at Duh. This fellow had only recently reached this level of awareness; it was rare for someone to understand these things.
In truth, it was mainly due to his own body’s Flesh and realm still being somewhat lacking. The power of his inner persona could only match his own strength. The uncontrollable part continued to absorb this malevolent energy, and combined with the issues he had accumulated over time, it had been activated after clashing hard with Duh.
During that period of self-cultivation, he had avoided stepping on even an ant. Now that he had broken his restraint to this extent and faced these issues, Yang Xiaoyou felt both speechless and on the verge of tears.
From time to time experimenting with the parameters of that fusion of power had gone too far. Those Special Forces Operators chasing Fia were nearly caught in one fell swoop by him.
"Tsk, those bugs I ate really seem to be quite nourishing; they’ve boosted my inner persona’s power so much. But the uncontrollable part has only increased," Xiao You thought with a frustrated expression.
Alright, perhaps with a bit of grit, I could manage to take down one more opponent. However, it was clear that targeting the fellow in front of me was not worth it. The Revenant's Wolf Tooth was significantly stronger than the Blade I had initially killed.
After spending most of the time merging my power, if I were to kill again, it would only stir up my violent urges, which could lead to complications. This was likely due to the current level of mental Consumption I was experiencing, contributing to the backlash.
Moreover, it wasn't just Wolf Tooth that remained.
"Live or die," a hand pressed heavily against Duh's head beside him. Yang Xiaoyou looked down at the limp Duh with eyes devoid of any emotion.
"Of course I want to live. Do you need my help? You can have it; after all, my relationship with them is merely a simple cooperation. If it comes to it, I can always find a weaker local tyrant," Duh replied. He wasn't afraid of death but didn't want to die without reason. This temporary ally clearly wasn't worth risking his life for.
Besides, he felt no intense conflict with this seemingly refined young man.
"Well, that fellow who came should be with you. Deal with him." Yang Xiaoyou glanced around and stated without leaving any room for negotiation; this was not a discussion but a demand.
"I'll do my best, but in my current state, even at my peak, I might not be able to handle them. They have three experts at Momentum Level. Third Brother is dead, and the second is severely injured, but the one leading is the strongest. I sense something quite strange about him, both in terms of power and techniques," Duh admitted candidly, his dark face showing no signs of distress.
"That's fine; as long as we can engage him, I'm not able to kill him directly, but I can restrict his movements." After Duh agreed, Yang Xiaoyou seemed unguarded as he turned away, exposing his back to Duh. He then walked over to the group of 'people' he had dismembered earlier and casually picked up a handgun to fiddle with.
Watching Yang Xiaoyou's back, Duh felt a twitch at the corner of his mouth but had no impulse to launch a sneak attack. Only through confrontation could he truly understand the terror that lay ahead. To be continued...
