"Looks like it's the same kind of thing as the new database entry Tyrant, with some skin issues! It's charging out!" As Lucas and the team, who had already prepared for a retreat, began to withdraw in an orderly fashion, a figure emerged from the smoke.
The Horrifying Figure burst through the gaping hole created by the explosion, its massive form and force shattering the already broken walls even further.
Chunks of concrete flew everywhere, creating chaos in the scene.
After charging out, it paused momentarily to let out a roar before speeding toward Lucas and his team.
It seemed that even in this monstrous form, it had not forgotten its original purpose or who had driven it to this state!
This had become the last remaining obsession of its Heart: to annihilate all intruders!
As it gradually picked up speed, each stride was equivalent to several steps for an ordinary person, and its running speed was surprisingly fast, despite its clumsy appearance.
The ground trembled with each of its strides!
Any abandoned Containers or other obstacles in its path were effortlessly smashed aside, as it charged straight toward its target!
The members of Lucas's team and those from the attacking group at a distance all turned pale.
Even Yang Xiaoyou's expression darkened significantly.
He wasn't a babysitter; if Lucas and his team failed to prepare properly and made mistakes, they would have to bear the consequences themselves!
But now, things were different. Whether it was the defense team led by Lucas or the offense team led by Fein, they were all acting according to their own instructions!
Although he had noticed something was off, he only gathered them to prepare for evacuation, never expecting the situation before him!
Ultimately, the hardware boost provided by his brain was still far from the traditional strategies and understanding that Mo Wenfu and Fia possessed.
The current passivity could be deemed as his negligence and responsibility. Although no one would blame him for this "unforeseen accident," Yang Xiaoyou would still take on his responsibilities and do everything possible to ensure everyone made it out safely!
Then, his entire figure seemed to transform into a streak of black light, constantly using momentum to bounce and swiftly dart through the chaotic abandoned warehouse toward the front.
Lucas heard the unmistakable rumble approaching from behind while leading his team at high speed toward the exit. As long as they could get rid of those damned obstacles, they would surely shake off that deadly thing once they reached the waiting convoy!
“Damn it! What the hell did this fellow inject? Isn’t it usually the case that multiple injections cause conflicts? Get lost! Move aside!”
However, just as they rounded a corner past an abandoned container, several Stragglers lurking there took the opportunity to pounce!
Their positioning was particularly lethal, effectively splitting the team apart as they passed through the turn, preventing them from using their ranged firepower on a single target—visibility was cut off by the corner!
Originally, there were only four or five Lickers left, but now three more emerged at once!
Under normal circumstances, with manpower and range advantages, it would have been no problem to deal with three of them without taking any damage.
But in this environment, once their formation was disrupted and they rushed in, the power of their firearms would be reduced to its absolute minimum!
They could only rely on melee capabilities to engage those armed-to-the-teeth killing machines in close combat!
In their home ground, where they could fully unleash their characteristics, it would not be like the tragic fate of the first three that Yang Xiaoyou had eliminated using the terrain and blind spots. There were even one or two that had not yet shown themselves, lurking in the shadows and watching with keen eyes!
Even if they could win in the end, the losses would likely be significant. Moreover, the rumbling sound in the background constantly reminded everyone that if they delayed any further, an even more deadly trouble awaited them!
Three Lickers. Initially, they seemed to be quietly lying on top of a nearby Container, but at this moment, they suddenly launched their attack, catching everyone off guard.
One of them was even lying on top of the very Container that everyone had circled around, and as soon as it revealed itself, it was almost ready to pounce directly into the crowd!
However, while still in mid-air, it was violently knocked aside by Lucas's powerful figure. The tremendous force caused even the Licker, which was much stronger than humans in terms of resilience, to emit a painful crunching sound as it rolled away with Lucas.
"This one is mine; don't let the other two get in! Finish it quickly!"
The people present were all well-trained individuals. Trusting their teammate's abilities, they began intercepting the two remaining Lickers that could still be targeted with Firepower, while quickly adjusting their formation to ensure they could gradually unleash their maximum Firepower.
Lucas, the muscular black man, took a huge risk by engaging closely with the first Licker that had emerged. His legs wrapped around its waist with an agility that belied his size, effectively immobilizing its lower body.
Flashes of internal training materials crossed his mind. The Licker still operated based on a Human Body power model; its most lethal weapon—the tongue—was also the strongest muscle tissue in a Human Body!
When forced into a corner, it could employ joint-locking techniques against humans. However, he had to remember that they were products of a virus; close combat would geometrically increase the risks!
By locking onto the waist of the Licker, he kept himself close enough to prevent its large upper limbs from effectively striking him. He focused intently on the grotesque bloodied mouth on its hideous head. As it slightly opened its mouth, he anticipated its movements and swiftly shifted his head and upper body to the side.
A blood-red shadow nearly grazed him as it shot past onto the floor behind him. Seizing the moment of vulnerability during its attack, he plunged his dagger forcefully into its brain from below its jaw and began to twist it violently.
According to the training materials, the opponent's brain had degenerated significantly. Although its skull appeared large, there were not many critical points inside; he needed to maximize the spread of damage!
The Licker, having sustained such a heavy blow, began to thrash violently. However, it had no effective means to deal with the pesky insect that had tightly adhered to it and entered its blind spot.
It could only press its chest down towards the ground, performing a piston-like motion in an attempt to crush the annoying bug beneath it. The violent collisions caused Lucas's entire body to creak under the strain.
Even with his physique, directly clashing with the Licker's strength put him at a clear disadvantage, but for the sake of his teammates, he had no choice but to do so.
It wasn't until blood began to seep from his mouth and nose that the Licker's struggling power started to noticeably wane, eventually collapsing in exhaustion.
Meanwhile, the Hivemind Team experienced their first significant loss during this operation. Divided into two parts, the members who had not yet rounded the corner were unable to provide firepower cover against threats from their blind spots.
After successfully incapacitating two of them, the thinning Bullet Hell was ultimately caught off guard by two others that had been lurking in the shadows, rushing into the crowd.
At that moment, one of the Elite Members, nearly at the threshold of success, mimicked Lucas's actions and forcefully shoved one of the Lickers aside. The remaining members on this side coordinated their efforts using close-combat gear to suppress the other Licker with all their might.
However, they were still significantly weaker than Lucas. While trying to delay it up close, one of the Licker's broad forelimbs pierced through his bulletproof vest, eviscerating him.
Yet even in that moment, he clung tightly to the Licker, managing to hold on until it clawed him twice before he was finally thrown aside.
The remaining members who had been freed unleashed their fury upon the Licker. Ultimately, in such dire circumstances, they managed to eliminate all five Lickers that ambushed them at the cost of one life.
Even though they resolved their immediate troubles quickly enough, there was no time for the survivors to mourn their fallen comrade. As they approached another corner ahead, a terrifying figure hurled a Container aside with brute strength.
The Container hit the ground with a deafening clang that reverberated through the floor.
At this point, there were no more obstacles between that monstrous beast and the group!
The Brutal Tyrant Creature, still steaming from the initial explosion, wore a cruel grin on its face, and its exposed muscles began to tremble with excitement.
After clearing away the last obstructive barrier, it surged forward once more, accelerating towards the group.
The visual impact of its massive form, combined with the residual force of the Container it had just discarded, created an overwhelming sense of pressure for the team members who had just endured a fierce battle.
If they continued to navigate around the Container in front of them while the creature charged directly at them, they would surely be caught in no time!
Given this situation, it would be better to utilize the relatively open environment and their prepared battle formation for one final stand!
“Spread out! Every one of us needs to escape if possible. If the data is accurate, we won't be able to break through its defenses!” With the Licker no longer lurking in the shadows, the threat to each individual had diminished significantly. By separating now, they could maximize their chances of survival.
Lucas, although not always the sharpest tool in the shed, showed his decisiveness in this moment!
A true warrior can only unleash their full potential when standing on the battlefield!
The others, having been promoted to official members, possessed unquestionable professional qualities. Upon hearing Lucas's command, they did not hesitate or dither; however, deep down in their hearts, they felt a twinge of regret for that voice which had fallen silent since earlier.
After all, it was impossible to guarantee that someone could always command them as if they were on-site.
Just then, as the massive figure thundered forward with booming footsteps, a black shadow darted sideways across the makeshift barrier formed by Containers. It was like a reunion of classmates seeing couples torn apart during this festive season—what a thrill!
