Chapter 527: Unexpected Developments
"A premeditated kidnapping? A skilled operation that leaves no trace? Hurry, merge those two cases together. I don't want to get caught in the crossfire of these big shots fighting; just give the other side an explanation," the newly appointed Police Chief said, feeling a wave of despair wash over him after hearing about yet another case from his subordinates. Then, a flash of inspiration struck him.
The case in the suburbs involved the Common Unity Party and illegal firearms, making it politically sensitive. The public narrative was vague, and ordinary citizens were unaware of the true nature of the situation.
Despite this, as the local police chief, he felt immense pressure. This position seemed cursed; in recent years, several police chiefs had come and gone, as if some inexplicable event occurred every few months.
He had thought he was lucky to take office after so many unpredictable incidents had already happened, believing he could enjoy a period of calm. Little did he know, he too could not escape this curse.
Now that he had grasped a lifeline, he immediately mobilized nearly all available police forces, even calling in traffic officers to conduct a thorough investigation into the second case, which had some leads.

As orders were dispatched, the entire Z City began to stir.
"Tsk tsk, with such commotion, are they using yesterday's group as scapegoats? What a tragic bunch; they have decent skills but lack internal channels for information and chose such a poor time," Yang Xiaoyou mused as she watched police cars rush by from her window. A hint of intrigue flickered in her eyes.
Initially thinking that group was made up of Radicals, it now seemed otherwise. Otherwise, with their current capabilities, they wouldn't be used as scapegoats.
"Where did this strange group come from? Oh well, having them draw some attention isn't bad," she shrugged after scratching her head. Her gaze swept over the few individuals still devouring food in her home.
Yesterday, they had taken advantage of the Virtual Docking System to train for an entire day. She hadn't monitored them during dinner, and they nearly wrecked her house.
After tasting the sweet results of their training, even the more rational ones among them had become obsessed with it.
Having just completed their biggest test, now seemed like a time for relaxation. Yang Xiaoyou wanted to hang out with Menglu and Feng Lin but decided it was best to avoid Qi Qiusheng for a while due to yesterday's misfortune.

But that place had clearly been bought by the Silver-Haired Princess, and she should still be under house arrest. There was no way she could be out here.
Given the relationship between their parents, both sides would likely want to avoid meeting each other as much as possible.

"Uh, interesting. So are those police cars outside looking for you? Is this your hideout? Instead of hiding in the suburbs, you've chosen to conceal yourselves right in the city—quite an impressive choice." Facing the spring knife pressed against his neck, Yang Xiaoyou appeared unfazed and looked at him with curiosity.
"Shut up! Knowing too much won't do you any good! Hmph! I see you're studying hard; don't make things worse for yourself!" Upon hearing Yang Xiaoyou's words, the young man's expression darkened even further as he growled lowly.
He then raised his hand and struck down on the balcony railing with a knife-hand strike, creating a fine crack and causing visible damage below—a striking visual impact.
"You idiot! He's clearly testing you! Damn it, get him over here!" At that moment, another figure emerged from their side of the balcony. His face was smeared with some strange paint that gave him an edgy appearance. It was obvious he had come out to check on the commotion but hadn't expected such an incident to occur.
However, that student across was already part of their kidnapping plan. After all, living in such close quarters with so many people made it difficult to keep their activities hidden from neighbors. The lower floors were also rented out rooms; there were plenty of issues down there as well.
They had done this kind of thing before; each time they successfully obtained the ransom they desired. For these nobles, death was their greatest fear; they usually preferred to settle matters privately.

Hearing such noises made his mouth twitch uncontrollably. He decided this place would be a good spot to lay low. The fact that a single student on break lived next door was already a significant factor, but now even that seemed problematic. Could all the unexpected events not converge at once?
"Hey? Are those people outside your neighbors? That's odd; your neighbors seem to visit in a strange way." As Laiwei's voice fell, she emerged holding a large bowl of Ramen and spotted the three peculiar figures on the balcony wielding spring knives. She blinked in confusion.
Bai and Foreman were exhausted from their trip to the countryside.
