Although autumn had already begun, the air in September still carried a hint of heat.
Liu Shaoqiang, who had grown accustomed to waking up early for exercise, naturally awoke while it was still dim outside, seemingly unaffected by the late-night conversation from the previous evening.
However, just after he woke up, he caught a whiff of an enticing aroma. Looking up, he discovered that the frailest classmate in the dormitory, Yang Xiaoyou, was currently devouring a large meat bun while occasionally gesturing at something on a laptop.
"Ah? You're awake! I was going to bring some for you guys, but I found out these buns aren't very filling, so I decided to buy my own," Yang Xiaoyou said with her mouth full, chewing rapidly.
Her anxious demeanor, as if afraid someone might snatch her food away, left Liu Shaoqiang—who usually maintained a cool exterior—feeling somewhat amused. He couldn't help but feel a bit surprised that his roommate had woken up even earlier than him. However, seeing her engrossed in her laptop led him to assume she was just browsing the internet for entertainment.
After freshening up, he exchanged greetings with Yang Xiaoyou and prepared to head out for his morning workout.
Feeling slightly guilty for finishing off all the meat buns, Yang Xiaoyou reminded him as he was leaving, "There are a bunch of elderly ladies practicing their routines down at our campus. If you want some peace and quiet, you can go to the East District; the environment there is nice and it's less crowded now."
"Thanks," Liu Shaoqiang replied gratefully, which was rare for him. He had planned to wander around looking for a comfortable spot to practice later on, so this advice saved him quite a bit of trouble; he could start right away.
However, as he left the dormitory, he vaguely sensed something was off. Had that fellow also started exercising?
He quickly shook his head in disbelief; perhaps they just happened to cross paths on their way to buy breakfast. With that thought in mind, he jogged toward the East District.
Meanwhile, in the dormitory, Yang Xiaoyou continued typing away on her laptop. At first glance, the screen displayed what looked like a 3D mechanical structure diagram resembling a game. But upon closer inspection, one could see the constantly changing parameters.
This was data she had brought back from taking Liu Lianyue to their branch office.
Now that she had obtained the Anti-Lock System data, she could take advantage of her time at school to make final modifications and improvements.
With the first-hand practical data obtained from Myanmar, further analysis could be conducted on several other critical points, including Mech load, Human Body load, and cushioning.
Currently, the only thing that Hive Security Company lacks is a special resilient alloy. After the disbandment of Thor, they managed to acquire some of their data, but perhaps due to the overwhelming challenges faced later on, the materials that were once top-tier globally now seem somewhat lacking when compared to their application in mechs.
It is feasible to produce them, and even participate in actual combat without issue. However, the frequency of replacements in high-load areas and the pressure on logistics would still be considerable.
Although due to his brain's computational capacity, Yang Xiaoyou could continuously absorb structural companies for research and development aspects, he ultimately felt powerless regarding the alloy segment and could only find ways to source it from elsewhere.
"Almost there. The first generation of Mechs is out, and their frontal combat capability is still superior to others. Well, as for supporting weapons, we only have what's readily available from Thor. It might be a bit monotonous; the additional flight devices can barely ensure mobility, and I doubt we can expect air superiority aspects. However, the potential is still there."
"The last classmate hasn't arrived yet. I was planning to take you all out for dinner tonight," he said with a chuckle after resolving lunch together at noon. Upon returning to the dormitory, he noticed that their final roommate had yet to show up. Wang Xincheng smiled wryly.
As the only local among them, he felt a desire to break away from his parents and prove himself.
"The last one should probably arrive this afternoon. You find a good spot for dinner tonight; I have some things to take care of this afternoon," Yang Xiaoyou said with a smile to Wang Xincheng after tidying up a bit.
He had just received a text message that Girl and Feng Lin had already arrived. Both had chosen business foreign languages; well, it was Menglu who made the choice while Feng Lin just filled it out habitually. She had been missing all summer, and it seemed there were significant opinions about that; now that she was back, she would naturally need to do some hard work.
As for agreeing to dinner plans, there was nothing wrong with that. This was the last chance before school started again, and Menglu and Feng Lin certainly needed to bond with their roommates.
"Hey, off to accompany your girlfriend again? But honestly, if I had such a beautiful girlfriend, I'd want to be with her too," Wang Xincheng remarked with a hint of envy. Since childhood, he hadn't even held a girl's hand; now that he was in college, he felt eager for new experiences.
"That's not it; we're just ordinary friends—purely platonic," Yang Xiaoyou replied. "Well, she already took a flight out today." Thinking of Liu Lianyue made him feel somewhat strange; sometimes he thought Liu Lianyue might be too indulgent towards him. Occasionally teasing him didn't seem like much either; he hadn’t gotten too upset during that incident on the subway.
If it were someone else in his position, they probably would have been furious by now.
After finishing, he waved his hand and walked outside, ready to embrace an afternoon filled with the life of a strong man.
Given Qi Qiusheng's level of affection for Meng Lu, it was only natural for him to escort her the entire way, while Yang Xiaoyou helped carry Feng Lin's things.
Although Feng Lin initially picked everything up effortlessly with one hand, being a girl, she still appreciated Yang Xiaoyou's assistance during such moments.
Feng Lin had no objections; she simply followed behind, her clear eyes watching as Qi Menglu chattered away in a teaching tone to Yang Xiaoyou, who was carrying her luggage.
She talked about how there are many bad girls nowadays and how one should not be deceived, along with trivial matters like not getting lost on the large campus.
It seemed as if she wanted to spill all the words she had bottled up over the summer, leaving Yang Xiaoyou with a pained expression as he endured the lecture.
To be honest, helping carry luggage was an easy task, but being lectured in front of such a large crowd felt quite uncomfortable.
The magnetic effect created by Feng Lin and Qi Menglu together was much stronger than when Liu Lianyue was around. At this moment, the concentrated attention on Yang Xiaoyou was exceptionally intense.
Then, just as they were about to reach the dormitory area, Yang Xiaoyou furrowed his brows and paused, slightly annoyed as he glanced in a certain direction. He spotted a sneaky fellow hiding behind a tree, secretly taking pictures with his phone while wearing sunglasses that obscured his face.
It was the girl who had been caught peeping in the restroom—the younger sister of that student from Huangpu Military Academy whom he had confronted.
